I've got this radio on the way, and I'm trying to get it programmed on the computer so I can start playing right away. I can't figure out what a number of the functions you can program to the buttons are, do you you know where I can find a list of the abbreviations and their functions?

I have just bought this radio. Really worth the money, just a shame that the programming software cannot be used to set this radio up, as the two are incompatable with each other.

It can you just need the right version of software for your firmware 👍

Just picked one of these up in the US but under the Midland brand, pn DBR2500. Same radio as the Anytone AT-778UV but with a readable manual (still confusing) and Midland labeling. Software is on the Midland website and they run specials. Got it plus the programming cable, shipped in the US for $107. RF watts measured in UHF was 5, 15 and 25 W measured, like the VHF band. Not sure why yours is reading low in UHF. One thing I don't like is that I programmed a channel with CTCSS decode (receive) and the unit still breaks squelch for RF noise even with no valid CTCSS tone. Wish it would display more alphanumerics too for the channel name. Otherwise nice small radio and no fan noise (obviously). Hopefully Chirp will support it soon.

Hello. I was just reading your comment about the Anytone at-778. Are you saying software for this radio is on the Midland web site?, if so, under what link. Thanks

I can’t stand the microphone on my (Retevis RT95 which is a carbon copy and manufactured by the same company) radio. The PTT is easily keyed on accident because the resistance is practically nonexistent, it has a very thin profile thickness which makes it difficult if you have larger hands (like me) and why ?, why ?, why ? Do so many Chinese manufacturers continue to install those ridiculous “mic hangers” instead of the standard button, on radio mics. My only other complaint is the volume and volume adjustment. Having to push a button to engage the rotary knob every time an adjustment is needed is ridiculous and the max volume produced by the radio is very weak. I had to install an amplified external speaker with its own volume control in order to obtain an adequate volume level.
Other than that, I like the the radio lol. But, until they make improvements in the areas mentioned above, I won’t be purchasing any more, nor do I recommend.

What amazon antenna would work for this? I want to use it as a portable backpack setup. Been using a Baofend DM 1701 with a group of friends backpacking.

You don't want something too large , you will need an adaptor cable to connect it, look for folding tactical antennas, Ringway Manchester has done reviews on here, folding antennas pack away easily and give good performance. The socket on the back of this radio is SO239 for PL259 plug so you will need a pl259 male to sma adapter, you will need to check what type male/female the folding antenna has, if you get a long cable you can strap the folder to your back pack and run the cable inside, the radio isn't water proof so you will need to keep it dry, on high power it does run hot also don't get the antenna near your head when using high power. 😎

Nice vid knoxie, merry christmas. When you do field test vid could you also let me know your mobile antenna set up? I'm taking my 2e0 exam 5th Jan and looking to set up dual band tx in car. Thanks craig

Thanks for the kind comment, the mobile antenna is just a generic dual band antenna on a mag mount, I don't know much about it other than that I've had it years, best of luck with the exam and I hope Santa brings you some nice radio related gifts. 😎

I have the revision II of this radio. On 1.0 SWR I get 24.75W on VHF, and 22.50w on UHF.
