I got the Anytone AT-778UV radio yesterday. Upon removing the cover I find that it is plastic, and the circuit board not shielded in any way. The circuit board looks very cheap, and the fact that it is not shielded means that RF can escape from it. Depending on what you drive, there could be a problem with your on board computer and the rf escaping from the radio. So there are a few nice things about the radio, but you may have to find a way to keep RF from radiating from the case. Leave it to the chinese to make a decent looking and working radio, but to make it as cheaply as possible. They could really corner the market by upgrading the quality about 150%.
Very good little Radio for the price - but Question from me is , when using a repeater how can you quickly listen to the input ?? any ideas, as its not been mentioned anywhere...
Go to frequency mode, type in the input frequency, then go back to memory mode, after an over just press the VFO and it will be on the input frequency.
Hi Great video.. By any chance do you know how to bring the repeater names on the screen? Mine only displays their frequency. Their names were added while programming using a pc.. probably a button press somewhere but as you know the printed instructions aren't that great.. Regards..Neil
Hi Neal thanks for that, I'm at work at the moment but I think if you press and hold the function button the option is in there, I will check later for you, it's a superb radio you've chosen very well.
I downloaded the Anytime software, and no way not no how will it work with my AT-778UV! I keep getting multiple error messages, the main one being "Wrong model selected"! I will give the Soviet version a try. It was also my thought that there may be a firmware incompatability issue between the radio and the Anytime software. Thanks for the video.
Have you ever used Chirp to program the At-778uv? I just ordered one and I'm wondering if I can use Chirp as I'm more familiar with it.. Also, I noticed the Russian version you used has a lot less settings that that other version...
Hi mate, Ive got two of these one is using V1 and the other V2 software is it possible to update the V1 radio to V2? as currently it states wrong model if I attempt to read/write with V2
I have been unable to write to the radio while the radio was widebanded - I mean when you perform the 'hold Funct & F4' button and choose altenative modes...... I see you were able to write the PMR channels to the radio - which Mode were you in to allow you to do this ? cheers in advance
Done it! I think the file i made was saved before I changed the mode.... i re read the unit after changing the mode... then updated the file... and wrote it to the machine.... all works a good'un now..... its all about the sequence of events and putting them in the correct order.... 🙌
Everytime i press the v/m p2 button it comes up error any ideas ? Also i followed your instructions to add some freq and it just says band error cannot write . I think its a faulty radio as its brand new .
@@knoxieman Sent it back to M/L after speaking to a sales rep who was convinced i was doing something wrong , i took a note of the ser number so i will see what they do, this is always a good indication of how a shop treats its customers .I was already hacked off when i bought a new 7300 only to find out in the invoice that the speaker was going to be 2 months before delivery might have been nice to have been told this when i dropped over a grand on a new radio .
Great video with the snow in the beginning. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thanks so much, have a great Xmas 😎

So this radio can be programmed to TX on 462mhz and 467mhz?

Do you know if it's possible to change the mic gain settings on these radios? Thank you
Hi no on my version that's not possible
@@knoxieman ok thanks for the reply. 73's
@@nigelb5341 open up the mic hole to 2mm and set band to wide in channel menu. Will change the deviation. It’s still going to be a little weak.

Why do we need that music in the background?
Great vid !! Could have turned off the beeping though !
hi, where can I get a *.dat file with all PMR an LPD channel frequencies to import in that software. Thanks a lot
Watching the Christmas special in Aug 2022
Hoping that there would be Crossband option the the next firmware
This may be a very stupid question, but, what type of antenna connection does this require
SO-239 on radio requires a PL-259 on cable.
Beeping everytime you press a button...fast track to madness..
Anyone know how I can flip the screen? I pressed a button (I think it was no 4) and now it's all upside down
The Russian link links you to software that no longer works as of 4-3-2021. Could be a firmware issue who knows. Sent my radio back.

Yes there are different firmware, a lot of people are coming up against it.

Never used chirp to program the radio as the software is super easy to use.

It should be possible, not tried it though
Also, will CHIRP work to program this?
Any chance you can repost a few links? "Wideband mod program and manuals etc available here". are broken. Thanks.
agreed! did you find it?
Google works wonders on all your questions.
Great video....I'll be buying one of those soon. Hope you have a Merry Christmas. 🎄
p.s. What was the animal at 13:27?
Looked like a small deer?
Ooh thanks, I hit and killed a small deer, had no time to react 😒

Hi yes I have heard some of the later ones have had an issue you will need to contact the seller.

Just wondering if this radio same as CRT MICRON as it looks like same radio
Yes very likely, they rebadge all the time in China, this chassis is used.for 4m radio and CB as well.
You show how to program the channel names but for the life of me I can't get them to display. Anyone know how to do that?
Its in the software.
Theres an option in the menu after holding down "function" to display either freq, name or channel .
Does anyone know if this radio has a Rodger beep setting?
No it doesn't
What the neck did you hit?
look the same as midland . BUT GOOG QUALITY ?
DBR2500
what kind of antenna do u use for this radio
Diamond I think
CORRECTION Wide band is 25 Kc Not 12.5 Kc at 9:23 (WIDE = 25 Kc MID = 20 Kc NARROW = 12.5 Kc )
What is "RDW"?
Receive Dual Watch. When enabled it allows you to monitor two different channels simultaneously.
