@@Nelex5000 did you understand the movie? To begin with he shot the Vietnamese woman with an "ugly face" aka his war face, which meant without any remorse or feelings as he did it, furthermore, right after all the traumatic stuff happens he sings a Mikey Mouse song with the rest of the brigade, which shows he became a soldier, joker throughout the move was no soldier, but by the end of it he lost it and became one, literally everything implies he lost it by the end of the movie due to loosing his friends and murdering a child as they all laugh. If you really think murdering a little girl and then walking away singing a Mikey Mouse song isn't the definition of losing your head, then dude, what is?
YES someone finally included Bill Foster in one of these types of videos. ‘I am obsolete. I am not economically viable.’ I was blown away first time I saw Falling Down. It is very layered of a movie, even it’s side characters have a lot shown rather then told. It has become my favorite film I have seen.
@@eeyorehaferbock7870 Yes I believe that the film has become more relevant over time. There is an epidemic of mentally disturbed people causing havoc on society. Prices seem to keep soaring on goods and services. The people who do the least work to help out country, society, and community are usually the least rewarded. The freedom of speech is becoming more of a dangerous thought. These are all scenes in the motion picture such as the Mr. Lee’s convenience store or the plastic surgeon’s mansion. I think I should do a long video dedicated to the film because I think a lot of people misunderstand it a lot of the time or don’t realize how important and deep it is.
@@Adam1Gee go for it. Personally I’d especially like to see an analysis of how the film shows that, as problematic as modern capitalist society is, acting out on racist, misogynistic, and generally violent impulses is ultimately a hypocritical way to react to it, as Robert Duvall’s character explains to Foster at the end. I’d say that’s what the movie was really about, and it’s also what makes it relevant in an era of rising authoritarianism driven by populism around the globe.
@@eeyorehaferbock7870 I hadn’t thought about that aspect of it. Every time I watch this film, I genuinely learn something from it. I knew the basic acting on impulse (typically emotional or retribution) leads to self destruction. I have the basic understanding and skills to make the video. I already have some notes and subtopics written down already.
Joker has a plan though a sick plan but devised nonetheless Dfens is randomly acting out on what he thinks is right.. its not sick its outdated theories of righteousness that clash with a world that passed him because he was working so hard he didnt see warning signs he needed to change.. it was too late for him However Joker knows the system he plans around it to get ahead Dfens momentarily got ahead because he shocked the system but because he had no follow through he failed As in his demise came by letting go as his final play wasnt he wanted to get away with something but get something that couldnt be obtained in one single play Hope my long explanation makes sense
I think age matches up actually. Joker is what, 20 years old in 'nam? And (actually forgot but) he is deployed in the 70s ? Falling down happens in early 90s, Bill is a 40-50 yo guy. I'm doing this out of memory so can't be too sure.
Falling Down is a one of a kind movie, there's something deeply moving about the film. Michael Douglas is the only person that could've given that role justice, the soulless look on his face the entire movie really somes up the way someone feels when they've officially given up on life.
The role of killer is put onto Jamie Foxx as its do or be killed (or his mother is probably next) Douglas acts a character driven to a mentality of his way

I wouldn't say so, the "literally me" is just a meme I guess, but there's some messages about these movies (maybe not drive tbf) instead of just being a mickey mouse superhero movie or whatever... Joker in full metal jacket for instance, recruited in vietnam, has a peace symbol in his jacket but a born to kill helmet (hes questioned in the movie also), the contradiction to me at least tells that hes fully aware of the situation and maybe doesn't want to be there. Pretty hard to put my thoughts into words as for falling down, foster is clueless but rightful in his own mind, and throughout the movie we can empathise with him a little, it's like an autistic child developing wrong thoughts because of the clueless influence other people have on him that indirectly have a negative impact on his mind. Again, hard to put my thoughts into words so take it as you will
