The Hebrew scriptures are not historical or scientific and paint a horrific picture of God condoning violence, rape, genocide and slavery. I remember fully understanding the concept of “ignorance is bliss” when car started having check engine lights. Not knowing my car had something wrong felt so much better than knowing something was wrong, that is, until it finally left one stranded.

The bereans were of noble character and poured over the scriptures to see if what Paul was telling them was true. Walking away from God because of bad theology is terrible. Great to hear. I’m in a charismatic church on the board. A fabulous church (around 250 strong) which embraces and cares for people. I’m completely open with the pastor (now a good friend) and fellow board members about my views on the Bible ie not historical or inerrant. I’m accepted and respected despite my views running against ‘doctrinal norms’. I’m true to myself and love my church experience.

I'm in the charismatic church and I think that's an absolutely idiotic thing to say. Goes against everything in the Bible. The bereans were of noble character and poured over the scriptures to see if what Paul was telling them was true. Walking away from God because of bad theology is terrible. I left churches because of such stupidity.

I've seen the double life. I'm only here to see what the other side is saying and it's a wake up call. The church is clearly failing people.

Great to hear. I’m in a charismatic church on the board. A fabulous church (around 250 strong) which embraces and cares for people. I’m completely open with the pastor (now a good friend) and fellow board members about my views on the Bible ie not historical or inerrant. I’m accepted and respected despite my views running against ‘doctrinal norms’. I’m true to myself and love my church experience.
How does it take people like you this long to figure out? I figured out the nonsense immediately. Nonsense: literal “NON SENSE” is how the bible could be summed up. Thats why ir has to be crafted perfectly for people at least once a week.
