Man, I would say your neighbors are pretty lucky because they are going to have such an amazing vista to look out at
I live near a few orchards and it's so beautiful! I love driving through that road.
Except the ones who get the compost view. I hope Laura plants something tall enough to block the compost view from that house. I’m sure she’s though of something.
@@IGmuse good fences make good neighbors... old ranch saying. Hence, the 6 ft tall, black fence they are installing... :)

& a bird’s eye view of Laura’s Garden Answer vids in the making!
🥰🌻🎥💜🌷🐱🥰
As much as we enjoy seeing these videos I can’t help but think how you, your children, and grandchildren are going to enjoy them thirty years from now.
Yes!! It will be so awesome for her kids and grandkids to be able to look back and see all the videos!
I bet they move to a different property. Maybe even to a different growing zone.
I was thinking about 30 years from now what it will look like as well and how they will be enjoying the fruits of their labour, so to speak.
I think the same thing!! :D
Laura looked in her element today. Back at it, digging, planting, watering, lifting. It is so motivating to see that.
I see it too! That motivation is contagious! Time to get my boots on and get at it
I thought the same thing!! I bet she is so happy to be able to get back into it!!
I know im asking randomly but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account?
I somehow lost my login password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@Ramon Corey instablaster =)
@Ty Jay Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
You guys are so blessed...I lost my spouse (due to covid) last month & am trying to get my interest in my gardens back...We always worked in them together. Oh and glad to see that Laura is able to get down on the ground & plant again.
Deep condolences
so sorry for your loss. Gardening is the perfect tribute and I hope brings you peace.
Send lots of love and blessings to you and your family Marvin ❤️
Sending prayers & love from Wisconsin, I hope your garden will bring memories and peace🙏🏻❤️
So sorry for your loss Marvin.
Aaron you can have your oranges in the Hartley!!
I was thinking the same. He can have a nice orange tree in there 🧡
Blood orange would be amazing
So exciting! I don't know about everybody else, but I cannot wait to watch this space come alive this year.
I love that we going to be able to see this new area unfold from the very beginning. We are clearing land as we speak for our new home on 6 acres. Starting from scratch in a new space is very overwhelming. Hoping to get some great ideas from you guys. I’m definitely planting some fruit trees!
I get totally overwhelmed with big empty space, I just don't have the vision like she does.
Me, too, Connie! We just bought 5 acres to build a home and are starting to clear areas. I’m definitely going to be getting ideas from Laura on what I can do with it. 😊👍
Ditto on 1.3 acres! Mine is split with a circular drive, so I’m doing the upper half where the house sits first and just mowing the lower for now. Splitting it into two zones makes it easier to plan and work, even though the whole thing will look continuous at the end - as if the driveway came afterwards. I am planting a few shrubs in both places so they’ll be the same type and size. Anyway, it’s the only way I could handle it in my head without freaking out - and also be able to afford it!💰😁
@@eurekamarijka Sounds great! Good luck! 👍
Yes! I agree. I took like a two month depression - it's winter break - and came back and Benjamin's strawberry tanks, the high top and the flower garden were all gone. Yeaks. So much changed in such a small amount of time. Fun stuff!!
Laura and Aaron, you guys should really look up the “bee dance”! How honey bees tell each other where to find a pollen source. It’s soooo cool to watch and learn about. It’s un- 🐝- ievable and amazing! 💗💕💗
Liz you are so right!
The waggle dance! I’m a Beekeeper 😁 #southernbellebeekeeper
I'm pretty sure Laura knows all about that; she has kept bees a couple of times, right?
Is this a book or film?
@@kimmiller4057 neither. Something honey bees do to communicate.
Best comment! I don’t know the life of a bee and what they do during the day.
Don't know you, but I was thinking the same thing. That was the cutest comment ever. Lol :) She could make shirts with that.
😂
"The Secret Life of Bees": great (real) book.
🤭🤭🤭😆😄😃😀
@@joyces.9021 how long before a subscriber sends her a copy? LOL. I just bought myself the book from my local goodwill. I haven't started it yet. I'm thinking this is a sign too though.
Luv the drone footage. It’s makes it so much easier to understand how u r planning the space.
Love those words, "Let the season begin".
You have no idea how much your videos help educate me! We’re planting a orchard this year too.
Good luck with your orchard!! I’m planting one as well and this video makes me want to get started on it now!! Lol
@@2acresevolving777 You too! It was very interesting to understand why she chose the spacing she did. Yes! I told my husband I needed to go to the nursery today. They flagged 4 for me to grab but now I’m thinking I need apricots for those blooms too. 😊 I had them pull one of the twist varieties so I can get two different apples in one tree. It’s kind of a new thing here so hopefully that works out well. What kind are you planting?
@@3wendyj I will be planting apples, pears, and peaches for sure, but I’m with you now I’m thinking of adding apricots!!
Me too! This video is very timely!
You worked that soil pretty easily.
And your neighbors must be glad that they have a neighbor like you and Aaron.
What a perfect video to watch at 430 in the morning when your 8 months pregnant and can’t sleep 😂❤️
You are almost there, wish you the best
Awwww. How exciting for you!!!
Awww, I remember those days well. Blessings to you and your new little one! 🥰
I'm excited to see your progress. I'm living vicariously through you.
You all are so blessed with your soil. Here in The Bahamas, we have a lot of sandy soil with rocks/glass.
Girl stop! You have amazing weather all the time... Except when those blasted hurricanes come along...
But....it’s the Bahamas! How lucky are u?! 😃
Laura - You look totally happy! Especially at the end. There is joy in that heart! Laura is planting and thinking about what the garden will look like in the future. Aaron is flying his drone and making fun fly-over-the-property-and-house videos. That is what is called a good day. =)
Love the drone shots! It all makes more sense to me to see the area from the top. Your enthusiasm is contagious!
💚💚💚Looking forward to seeing the fruits of your labor 💚💚💚
Eeeeeee 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I’m so excited for you too❣️when you were digging the holes the soil looked great 🤔 thank you for the fruit tree planting video 🌳🍎🍑🌻
Wow, that editing with the drawing and the overhead drone footage was great! This is going to be beautiful!!!
Not covering the trunk of the trees is the key to a good strong tree that people don't understand. Your Orchard will look beautiful in years to come especially in the spring.
Also not letting them fruit until a proper structure is formed. Some people deformed their little fruit trees like this. I personally wait for three years plucking off immature fruit then I let them fruit until their hearts content. I always thin because trees are long lived so proper pruning and care will bring so much reward for the future.
Thanks Laura for all you inspiration! Happy to know she is back to health enough to dig holes people !❤️

I am so excited for all of yous. You guys have worked your tails off and deserve everything that makes you happy. I can't wait to continue watching your journey. It's been an incredible four-plus years. You guys simply ROCK. Thank you for inspiring me daily.
It is exciting. Looking forward to seeing leaves on the trees. Your sketch of the area helped me see how it's going to look.
Besides the beautiful look of the trees in spring, can you imagine the smell from the fruit! I drive thru an orchard practically everyday (their apple trees are on both sides of the road) and the smell is wonderful. Then, don’t get me started when they’re cooking up cider, pies and other goodies.
I love your orchard set up near the possible shed and its use with your flower garden - great purposeful planning! I love eating apricot cross plumb fruits too. Here, in California, we call them "Pluots" (plu-ots).
This is so awesome. The development of this land by someone so knowledgeable to going to be amazing to watch. Looking forward to the dusty dusk summer nights where you, Aaron and the kids are out playing in it !
You two make planting an orchard look so romantic and easy!!!!! Once upon a time, my husband and I would pick out projects to work on together. It was just nice to work alongside with someone. It sort of takes the chore out of work. I can't wait to see your vision of this space.
How exciting watching the new property evolve !
Your positive attitude it’s just so contagious. I’m a psychologist and I just love watching you and listening to you, there’s never a negative word that you say. At least not on camera Ha!
Maybe the orchard area would be a good place to try your beehive again. The drawing was very helpful. It looks beautiful
Or let a local person who has a small property do the bee hives on your property. It would benefit you both.
It’s so sweet to see how you and Arron agree on things. Your insight on placement and planning are so inspiring.
The joy in your excitement is infectious!!! I am so VERY excited for you both! Thank you SO much for sharing this journey. Inspiring doesn’t begin to describe it all!!
How totally satisfying it must be for you and Aaron...planting your own orchard with your own two hands (and an auger, lol). 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
❤️Let the season begin!
Honey bees will go further if they find a crop and with 40, 000 in a hive you will get some come and visit xxx hope the spray is bee friendly :)
yeah, but if compatible tree is very, very far away, it's questionable if same bees that visit one tree will also visit the other. it's not like bees have plans of how to best pollinate this particular sort of plant, they just go around looking for food
She is very conscious about the pollinators. Love that about Laura.
@@mimosveta Yes but Lauras trees are in a good block so have every chance of bees finding them all :)
She has had bees in her gardens already.
So I'm sure they'll find her orchard.
But maybe she'll try a little bee keeping again.
That would be awesome!
They only spray when the plants are dormant so they don’t effect the bees.
This looks like the beginning of the best journey. I'm curious why you didn't fill the holes with water before dropping the root ball in the way you did with the Red Point Maples? I watched for Russell this whole video!
I wondered the same thing. I thought you always wanted to fill the hole and let it soak out before planting a tree. And WOW!! what an amazing orchard this will be :^)
The soil may be plenty wet enough from the melted snow.
I think in another vid, she said they sometimes fill the hole and other times they water after planting. Regardless, a new planting should always be watered in well.
This time of year, the soil is typically more moist. If it were summer, I'd completely agree with you.
@@cantor7723 also, I think because the trees are dormant, you don't want to drown them in water because they are not taking up water right now. I could be wrong...
Here in New Zealand, to help feed the newly planted tree and to help it retain some moisture during the summer months, we put a pile of daggy wool down in the planting hole, then place the tree on top and fill in with the dirt.😊🐑
Aw so happy for you both. It’s nice to see Aaron getting more and more interested in gardening. That right there builds TEAMWORK❤️
Awww the orchard and baby girl are gonna grow up together ❤. Benjamin is the big brother to both 😁😁. This is gonna be amazing. Apple Crisp are my favorite apples 🍎 😍😍
Thank you, thank you!!! My husband and I where looking to make our pasture into a fruit tree Orchard. I watched the whole video now I'm going to watch it again with my husband so we can get some ideas for our space😁
Also, think about what varieties of fruit you want to have, because one tree will produce a lot of fruit for you to deal with! Will you be preserving the fruit? If so, get varieties that preserve well. Will you have apples just for eating out of hand? Get a variety that will store well or one you will want to share or sell, as there may be more than you will need. These are things that may not be in the forefront of our minds when choosing fruit trees. You will(hopefully) have these trees producing a lot of fruit every year for a long time. Some years I am wracking my brain to think of something else to do with my sour cherries, even though I do love them! Also, depending on your climate, some years the blossoms may freeze and you will have no fruit that year. We sometimes have apricots and sometimes not, they bloom very early, while it’s still quite cold. Happy planting!
Can't believe people who thumbs down..they have a problem I think ..maybe they're a bit unhappy anyway guys you constantly amaze me with all your energy and enthusiasm just love all your videos..God bless
You should have a bee keeper put some hives on your property! 🐝🙂
Here I am thinking about what to eat for lunch, and Laura is thinking about what pollinators doing during the day and whether they going to pollinate her apple tree or not 🤣🤣🤣
Wow, can't wait to see them with blossoms. And shed will be adorable in the orchard.
There used to be an orchard around our house! My husband grew up in our home, my Father in Law planted cherry, apple, peach & pear trees! As the years past & the trees aged & they died. And my Father in Law as he aged couldn't care for the trees properly. But we all enjoyed cherry pies, cobblers as well as dishes made with the apples, peaches & pears! As you said we shared the bounty with our extended family & friends! Your orchard will be beautiful, can't wait to watch it grow & produce fruit!😃🍎🍏🍐🍑🍒
I want to fast forward and see the orchard in bloom !
I'm so impressed by how you've edited the video to show in great detail how the layout will go--including the crossfade between drawings and aerial shots! That's so much work that goes into that stuff. I see you flexing! ;) And I'm here for it! As always, thanks for sharing :)
So excited to see the start to the planting season!! The joy on your faces is priceless!
Hi Laura! Biostudent here! Bees will forage and collect nectar as far as they can, as they have other hives to compete with, as well as other species! So they would absolutely travel to the hypothetical tree you're talking about :D Fruit trees typically have lots of nectar too.
Perhaps in the middle of your flower garden would be a great spot for an open air gazebo.
True, they might need the shade if they want to sit there.
I'm in a windy area too, and when the fruit trees are in full beautiful bloom and the wind blows off all the flowers before they have been pollinated, my crabapple tree doesn't produce well that year. But if spring winds hold off then all is good. So now I put pots of flowers over by the tree first, as soon the flowers can take the weather. To make sure that there are bees around my tree right when the blooms open.
Chills! Crying tears of joy. Amazed by each video as to your expertise, teamwork, vision and ability to bring forth. Thank you so much for these incredible videos. Bless you all and everyone who watches!
For the last three years I’ve used the money my papa would give me for Christmas to purchase fruit trees as a living memory. This was the last year as he passed away at 96 years old in January. I purchased many more fruit trees with the last Christmas money he gave me and got a peach tree, 3 pear trees, an apricot tree, a nectarine tree, and two apple trees that are grafted with 4 varieties of apples. We now how a food forest thanks to my papa and a loving tribute to his wonderful, beautiful life!
So sorry for the loss of your Precious Papa. 🙏 How Beautiful to have a living reminder that he is Always with you! God Bless You!
Exciting day! Hard to believe I'm in the same planting zone as you. It's freezing, here. Brrrrrr.....
Same here. Im on the other side of Oregon from them and it just snowed last night
Have been waiting for this video. Planted a lemon an orange and recently a pear tree in our small North Fla yard over the past few years. Praying we can keep them pruned . Looking forward to seeing your orchard mature. Yes to Aaron sitting beside you. Your both have great ideas. We hear your voice may as well join Laura ! Blessings to your sweet family.
“Let the season begin” I love it! Makes me want to get outside and work in the garden
So Cool!!!🍊🍎🍐🍏
Your excitement is contagious! You guys are amazing!
And yes dont put up the shed put down the platform for the mini Hartley there that Aaron mentioned it would be so beautiful.. I didn't forget Aaron
" Let the season begin" !! Amen!😃
Let the season begin !! Your excitement is contagious...another month and maybe I can plant something !!
Yaaaayyy! So exciting! Can't wait to see your harvest season and the development of your land. ❤️
I so enjoy Laura and Aaron relationship. Soon we will have a shed with double doors to open up. With a pretty light fixture right Aaron that's what you want too. Yeah it's been on my list!! To cute!!
So lovely to see anything going in the ground.
The sketch drawing you showed helped a lot to visualize what the plans are for the area. I really liked the variety selections that you picked for the orchard area.
I know you’re not a fan of your soil, but my goodness, I don’t know what I give for somewhat rock free soil. 😍
Very exciting to be able to watch a new orchard grow from scratch. I have an opposite problem in my garden - I am taking over care of an aging orchard of old varieties that was planted by my grandparents and parents - 70 year old apple trees and 30 year old plum trees. A whole different beast that is! I just had them pruned for the first time in decades and boy, I spent 2 weeks just chipping wood. Do not neglect pruning! It would be so much easier if their growth never got out of control... Of course, I know Laura and Aaron won't make THAT mistake. :)
So excited for you guys, looking forward to the changes to the property. Thanks 😊
Can't wait to see the updates in coming years. You 2 are meant for each other!
Always a great video to enjoy.
The orchard looks great! Really looking forward to videos about fruit tree maintenance...spraying for disease, pests, fertilizing, etc!
Congratulations on your new orchard! What a joy growing your own fruit will be! We have apples, pears, and cherries, and I'm so thankful to the man who planted them before us. Hope you guys have a great weekend!
Yah! Spring has sprung at the Garden Answer household. Now I want an orchard. Thanks a lot. My hubby is not going to like you guys. Lol! 😂
This video is AMAZING!! You guys went to a lot of work to help us understand the way you're developing the new property. Lots of good fruit tree info as well. Thank you! It's ALL SO EXCITING!!
Yay! So excited for you. The plans look amazing! And the sweet thought of a she shed with a chandelier is just 🥰 lovely framed with blooms. Can’t wait to see this all come together. So happy to follow along this journey with you all.
I would like to thank you. I purchased and am about to plant my 2 first apple trees in my yard. I don’t have land like you do, but you still give me ways to try new things. I started flowers for the first year. Thanks for all your tips and advice.
Yes! The beginning of a new adventure!💚🙃
The parting drone shot, I didn't notice the trees you planted last spring along the fence where the vehicles were parked.
Did they get pulled out or moved? Aaron worked so hard and even had to replant some because of placement miscalculation.
I look forward to learning more about dormant oil. Linda Vater had a great tips video and mentioned equipment she uses to apply it. I've never applied anything to my fruit trees and have a new Honeycrisp I want to take good care of from the start.
You're right, what happened to those trees, I hadn't noticed 🤔
Loving to see your Homestead grow. Thanks for sharing. 🌻💕🌻💕
You are definitely a visionary....cant wait to see it come to fruition 🍊🍎🍃
Omgosh my husband and I have been waiting for this video!! We have so many questions!! What is dormant oil and do I need it on our peach tree? How often should we feed our tree. And do you have a problem with late season blossom frost and how do you handle that if you do? Thank you for any thoughts on these issues. 🍑🍎🍏🍑
@@annebrunner9698 maybe you could for me. I most definitely will look into it myself as well.
She said they will be doing that and making a video about it soon. Hang in there.
Funshine4u I understand your anxiety about it all, there are definitely a lot of things to know about having fruit trees. I have learned a lot over the years. Just googling it does not necessarily tell you what you need to know for your specific area. You might find more helpful information by going to your local nursery and county extension office. If you take Laura’s advice, but you live in New York in zone 4, or Texas in zone 9, you will not have the success you are looking for. Growing fruit trees can be rewarding, but it is also a ton of work and a whole set of knowledge and skills that takes a while to develop and learn. Best wishes!
@@cynthiafisher9907 thank you that is great advice, I think that may be worth making a call. We are so limited on space, so I want to be sure we are successful from the start. This is our first fruit tree. 😊
Thank you both for this awesome video ! How lovely to have such a nice sandy loam soil to work with!!! I am so glad you have this kind of soil.. There is a lot of this soil in the Central Valley of California and so many thousands of acres are planted there..
God's Blessings for for you and yours !

Have you seen Joanna Gaines garden shed? That’s my absolute favorite!
It's so beautiful when my peach tree blooms
Hi Laura and Aaron. Love your channel! I’ve always been taught not to bury the graft, but I’m wondering what are consequences of doing so and how does it differ from other plants like roses where you want to bury the graft?
P.S. here is my vote to get Aaron to sit next to you during your weekly recap ✋
I just looked it up and it said if you plant the tree to cover the graft, it will send out roots from the tree variety and you will. It get the dwarfing benefit of the root, you will end up with a standard size tree.
I’m loving the idea of interviewing bees 🐝 about their daily schedules & pollination preferences.
Question: has there been resolution around the neighbors RV/tent visible from house?
Allison Pilmer, I could see at the end of the drone shots under a canopy, behind their barn.
@@willowingchintz great eyes!!
How exciting. Especially watching the drone views on how much land you have and where things are at.
Hi Laura and Aaron! This was fun to watch! I really appreciated your drawing and the drone shots. It will look magnificent out there. Thank you so much for sharing!
Good morning! 🌻🐝
I am loving the development of the trees and being able to see how the area is transforming. Another thing that I love about orchards is you can stagger the fruit harvest to get fresh fruits of different varieties thoughout the season not just here and there.
This is very exciting. Love to see how this progress. I have a small backyard and can only dream and watch someone grows them with as much satisfaction. Thank you for the uploads ! I know it's very time consuming as I am always learning from you. ❤️❤️
I’m so excited! When I see people with lots of land all I can think of I had it I would put fruiting trees out. My grandfather grew everything and he lived in Oklahoma.
I cannot wait to see the fruit trees in maturity during the spring! It will be majestic!😍
🌱You are surrounded by beauty every where, and I’d love to see your neighborhood! This is so fun to see you both making dreams come true. Can’t wait to see it all come alive! Thank you Laura and Aaron ☘️💚🪴🧚🏻
We just started spraying and pruning our little orchard for the first time since we build the house a decade ago so that video on how you take care of fruit trees will be much appreciated 🌳🍎💕
How did you guys not hug any of them after you planted those sweet babies! Lol
So happy for you and the family! What a milestone💖💚🥰
Happy morning, planting an orchard is amazing
I am in love, Laura! 😍 You guys Are doing such a great job.
So happy for you & your family. What fun! Gorgeous classic plans.
Honestly, I would love to be a part of a conversation with Laura about what we think the life of a bee looks like!
