I'm not sure which is more impressive; the fact that you got that Redbud out by yourself or that the shovel didn't break. Nice work!!😄
Fiberglass shovel handles are great.
I was waiting for the break too! 😬
Lol, remarkable! I was hoping that the shovel will not break....it would have been terrible.
I was expecting Aaron to show up.
same...
Love those safety hugs while the tractor moves....
I loved seeing Benjamin running through the trenches. What fun memories he will have of the property being developed.
I experienced shades of Stephen King's The Shining watching him run through those trenches. I guess I'm more claustrophobic than I thought, lol.
I was thinking that would be fun for Benjamin to go running around in...and then he did!
That did look so fun!!
That was great!
every boy's dream! trench running! so fun for Benjamin
Thanks for not editing out your struggle with the redbud tree. I’m sure many of us have had that same struggle. “Super Woman” beat the beast! The progress you’re making on the property is amazing.
Yes! I really like how she shows issues that she has as well. That and that segment just gave me a good laugh. 😂
i could watch videos like this (random transplanting, seeing the new lay of the land, Laura just talking about their vision, a Russell sighting) over & over until the end of time. i find these types of vids you guys do so therapeutic and just so inspiring to get out into my own garden, it's like Laura is a coach saying "you can do it!"
I know! Right? Watching this channel has made me tackle my own garden ... Much earlier than in previous years.
Yes, this was a super satisfying video to watch!
I definitely find myself staring at my garden thinking, "She does it...Yes, I can can do it too!"
@@joannecraft-lane8660 Me too but now random snow has hit Scotland and I'm running around worrying about plants - a brand new experience for me teehee.
“That redbud owned me” nice work Laura!
Actually Laura RULED the redbud! GOOD GIRL!!
mercedithbooth7240 You should visit Greece around end of March and go up the mountains to see masses of redbud trees ,Cercis siliquastrum.
They flower after tulips have finished in gardens.
Am I the only one that heard the theme song for the movie Rocky as Laura finally beat the redbud tree?💪🏻🏆Looking good!💚
Dum......... dum duh duuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhh.... Lolz
My go to quote when I master something tough- "Yo, Adrian, I did it!" 😁
Feels so empowering to get back to strength after forced hiatus via pregnancy or injury. It's taken me 5 years following getting crushed under a low-boy trailer but it feels SO good!
Best comment ever!! 🤣🤣🤣
@@katiekane5247 someone ran over you?! 😦
I chuckled out loud watching Laura dig out the Redbud! 🤣
I lol at her it was great to see her giving it her all 😜🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Me too😂
YES YES YES!!! I actually thought it was hilarious when she was on the left side of that redbud, body turned backward, giving it everything she had!!
I spit my softdrink all over everything in front of me!
Just for the laugh, I had to watch that a second time!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Me too!! Especially when it pulled her right down on her behind!😂
Me too! Been there, many years ago.
Good morning Laura. I couldn’t help but have a hard laugh at your struggle uprooting that redbud......sloooowly...plop on the bum. And all the other lunge poses 😂. Too funny. Flashbacks of my younger years☀️☕️
Same! Younger me for sure! Current me: "honey!!!! Come show me your manly muscles at work!"
Being an old gal I have discovered Epson salts bathes, massages and a good chiropractor are a Gardener's best friends. It will all be worth it.
Yes girl! I just tested it and It made a huge difference on my sore muscles 2 days ago!
So true!
Fresh mulch always looks so nice.
I was just thinking the same thing!
Laura’s tree aerobics reminds me of every time I dig anything in my yard! Clay soil life 🤣🤣
Me too! Pick axes are not uncommon for us!
Laura, you are a BOSS!!! That was so impressive to watch. Anyone else see beauty in all the chaos?!? This is so fun and inspiring to watch, thx for sharing. Also love how much Benjamin is part of the team now :).
I thought I was the only one who looks crazy, completely determined not quitting to transplant! That actually made me admire you a lot more lol!
Thank you Laura for validating my digging methods 🤣 I have completely overhauled my back yard, dug up several overgrown, neglected 20 year old shrubs to put in prettier things. I have used a few of those shovel techniques a time or two! As always, thanks for being so transparent and candid! Can’t wait to see how all the new areas shape up!!!
I laughed when I watched because when I was Laura’s age I did exactly that more than once. Still try but just too old now to accomplish it. Enjoy theses videos so much.
I used a towel to drag 50lb bags of rock through my yard yesterday and I looked like Laura digging that red bud!! I can relate to the struggle, cause the struggle is real!!
I don't know how you manage to get a video out every day, but I'm here for it!
Me too!
That's called Dedication!!
Laura doing splits digging up a redbud made my day lol
I what to know Aaron’s comments when he saw that video of you digging up that tree?
I love how Benjamin comes out and just seems to instinctively start helping. The new bed is going to be fabulous, thanks for a great video to start the week. Going to reach 80 here, just outside of Detroit and you know I will be out everyday!
Does anyone else find themself speaking to Laura during the video, whether it’s an encouragement, a question, or even to tease? Lol! Thank you for another great video!
Haha yes!! It’s great though! So glad I am not the only one. 😉
@@briannapatrick5863 👍🏻😝♥️
Yeeaas!
I so wanted to grab my shovel and go help.
@@joannecraft-lane8660 lol!!!!
LOL you go girl! First the red bud then the tractor bucket .... LOL I was trying to not laugh and brush my teeth 😅
Laura is a spitfire that's for sure! So proud of her!
You taking out that Red bud was so endearing OK, entertaining! You need some sort of You Tube award for that. Really should be saved for the blooper roll. I just LOVE watching your videos!
Laura: "Oh!" (surprised she did it right)
Laura 2 seconds later: "Like a Pro"
🤣🤣🤣
Yep you never know how hard until you are in it!!!
What a delightful video!! I am so proud that you never gave up on that redbud!!! What a great example you will be to Samantha Grace! Thank you for a great start to my Monday!!! 💗. 👩🏼🌾🌻👩🏼🌾
Oh honey, NOooo. I was staring at the heavy equipment right behind you as you were trying to muscle that redbud out! I know the excavator was too big to help, but a backhoe could’ve done that job in about 2 minutes. I am lucky enough to have access to heavy equipment and always use it if I can to help in bigger transplanting jobs.
I hope your redbud makes it and that you didn’t get too sore tackling that job! 🤞🏽💪🏼
"The beastiest root ball..." delightful master gardener wordsmithing! I love it! And how many times have I been hauling on my shovel the way you did to get that baby out!? I relate, Laura! Thanks for sharing the trials as well as the joys. ~Jenn from Nebraska
These are some of my favorite types of videos you do. I'm interested in how people set up garden areas, the infrastructure & layers of plants, trees & shrubs they place in them to bring it alive. Thank you kindly for sharing 🙏 please take care of yourself Laura, that tree was brutal to move!
“I might even be sore today” says Laura only once...says me every day in the garden.
Listen I feel ever bit of my gardening each time!
i put a few daffodils to "mark" lines, pet graves, anything i want a reminder not to dig, but doesn't interfere with the lines. they're gone by mowing time, but refreshes my memory of the undergrounds. i am really enjoying all the upgrades yall are doing to the property. inspires me to go outside and DO SOMEthing!!!
I loved watching you and Benjamin picking up the rocks. Such a simple thing. You would both pick up rocks and then hold him gently while the tractor moved. Such a sweet, protective gesture to keep him safe. ♥️ Your videos are the best. Thank you for sharing with us.
Good morning everyone! Hope you all have a great week☺️
I can't think of anything more difficult than looking at an empty field and trying to decide where you're going to put a tree lol
Yay Laura! Your vision is coming together! You and Aaron will bounce ideas off each other and come up with an amazing garden space!
It was so cute to watch Benjamin helping you pick up rocks! He’s your little helper! I can tell he loves helping. And I felt for you when you were trying to dig up that red bud tree! What a beast of a root ball system it had!
Hysterical! I just went outside this evening and found my husband edging our front walk... I asked him what he was up to too .. and he told me “ he was just making things tidy”! You have another convert ! I live on Long Island in NY on a simple postage stamp piece of property but have applied all that you have taught me in this last couple years to create one amazing garden that is the envy of my neighborhood! Thank you so much Laura ! I feel blessed for having found your channel.
Russell never fails to show up. I think cats like to hear our voices. I can't remember if he was a stray or you already had him. Great video
She got him as a kitten after they lost Dexter (who was a stray)
I think cheddar was the stray who chose them. Not sure of Russell they had him already when i started watching. They did have a sweet kitty before him too though.
I wonder if No! still comes around.
@@Bamboo4U2 A while back she said that he ocassionally does.
Connie, I do not know what is going on with my RUclips. I commented 3 times telling you the story about Russell and it disappears after posting. Let's see what happens.
You digging that redbud out was hilarious! I’m reminded of when I dug out two ancient holly bushes that I hated...I looked like I got in a brawl by the end of that day! Thank you for your videos and the community you have created. I hope you know how much joy your work brings to others. ❤️🌻🌿
Laura just inspires us all to “ get after it!”! Thanks Laura!
Laura I must say you a lot like me as we do the most crazy things like pulling up a tree all on our own . 😉🙃 Have a great day with your family 🥰
Saludos from Chile
You are so blessed to have a husband who is willing and able to plan and execute the infrastructure shown in this video. Did you put out a video on the fence removale? I feel like I missed something.
Your Daffodils look beautiful. Excellent job on the tractor Laura.
Spring Garden Tour!
O M G LAURA!! My back was starting to hurt just watching you with the Red Bud! You are a worker thats for sure! I'm proud of you for doing it all by yourself!!! The mulch looks great!!!
It does. It looks fantastic!
Beast Mode; Laura you had me laughing out loud digging that Redbud the struggles are real.
Thanks for not editing this out, Benjamin's such a great helper!
OMG that redbud had me on the floor laughing!!! I’m SO a glad you showed all of that because girrrrrl, that IS me! I’m out there doing yoga and aerobics with my shovel trying to get plants out or transplanted and I SWEAR my neighbors/friends are laughing big ol’ jolly laughs at my antics! But, when I’m working at it, I REFUSE to let that plant or tree or whatever win! LOL. It’s like a personal competition. 😂😂😂
I love seeing your family. Benjamin and Aaron running through the trenches and Benjamin helping with the rocks. Aaron is always willing to stop what he’s doing and help you with a project. Y’all have such a strong work ethic. Benjamin and baby girl are lucky to grow up in such an environment. Thanks Aaron’s sister for watching the kids today!
Also, I love seeing the development of your grand plan for the property too.
It’s so sweet how Benjamin helps you ❤️ He will not only grow up knowing how to be a gardener, but with such an appreciation for the
Hard work involved ! Great Job !!
I absolutely love seeing the "in progress" videos of all the construction chaos that is going on. I love seeing the step-by-step progress updates of how things are progressing. Your property will look so beautiful, and you can always make changes later on.
Thank you for sharing the progress of the evolvement of your new property.
I know you weren't going for comedic relief, but watching you struggle with that Redbud had me laughing. I think we have all been there. Kuddos to you for not giving up, or calling in reinforcements!
Do you have any help in the garden?
@@SMElder-od5cl if you're asking me, I do not.
I had to chuckle at you digging up the Red Bud tree. I've been there because I am too hard headed to stop and ask for help. Now I'm about to be 64 years old and still haven't learned to ask for help 😕. My son gets on to me all the time. Positive side is I'm a lot more active than all the women I know..even a few years younger. I can still step on the truck tire and climb over into the bed of the truck 😳. That really spends my sons head around Lol. Have fun and God Bless.
Great video...yep you are an Oregon girl! Drive the tractor, love the babies and dig up the redbud tree!😅🤗🥳
Digging out that red bud was epic. I so enjoy the adventures with Laura. Always makes my day.
Hi Laura! This was an amazing video to watch seeing the trenches, Benjamin playing and helping, you digging up the two trees and replanting them, the daffodils, the mulch and listening to your ideas. Aaron is so right the way he's planning the infrastructure. It's so much better to have it done in the planning stages instead of doing it later, and much less work. I hope you were able to go back and mark where everything is. Thank you so much for sharing! Can't wait to see things come together.
You definitely got your stretches and exercises in with that Redbud. Maybe add a little mulch around it to help hold moisture. That way you could see it better and less chance of somebody running over it out there all by itself!!!
Such a fun memory to have of playing in the trenches! That looked like a lot of fun.
Benjamin is such a great little helper. He’s always helping Momma with whatever she’s doing. I think that is wonderful and he’s learning so much.
Everything is looking good even in the phase of tearing it up. It’s getting there. So excited for y’all. Thanks for taking us along to enjoy the process.
☀️🌿 Have a great week everyone!
Can't wait to see all your hard work pay off.
I love how you're so independent and just go for it. 😊 Just be careful how much you do. Cuz I always did whatever I wanted, a lot of times to prove I could, and now my body is broken. I'm suffering the consequences. 🥺
I love watching how you do projects! It reminds me of how we do them; just get'er done! And seeing sweet Benjamin helping reminds me of when our older 4 were younger & would help like that. They're older now & love helping in the garden & day dreaming with me about projects. It's so sweet! They're also helping teach their baby brother how to help.
Laura....the gal full of determination. That is why they have such an amazing yard! Well right now a yard under construction! It’s going to be beautiful again. It will be a treat to see it all finished. In the mean time we will enjoy the process and more of Laura doing what she does best!,
Do the old owners ever watch your videos? I remember saying that you know them, and I bet they are so happy that they found someone who loves the garden as much as they did! I bet they are so amazed at how much it has changed! I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
I just love your attitude. I think you and Aaron make an awesome team. I love that he is a future problem solver and but putting in the infrastructure it will actually get your beautiful creative ideas flowing, whereas you may not even think of an idea based on the lack of water/electricity. Go TEAM LA!!! I have to admit, I may have laughed a little harder than necessary watching you digging the tree, you reminded me of a cartoon character that way your body handled the shovel, at any moment I could see you being flung into the tree. Mind you, I have a very good imagination and a great sense of humour. QUESTION: What is the mulch made of? It looks great!!!
The mulch really did make it a defined area. Wow, what a difference. Looking forward to you filling it in. Thanks for posting.
To those of us who have been watching since the townhouse days....your progress on this property has been AMAZING!
Looking lovely this morning, as always! I love your long hair and am so glad you don’t tie it back into a pony tail.
My question: Do you partner with Unique Stone. I need a new wall fountain and, due entirely to Garden Answer, I immediately went to the Unique Stone website. Turns out I have a local dealer (woohoo!). I’d love to be able to give you guys credit for the purchase, if there’s a way to do that.
Thanks for making my life beautiful through the gift of gardening🌸💗🌸
You are such a HARD worker and tough girl! You always have such wonderful vision and your projects always turn out so beautiful. And your family is such a perfect family, with such stunningly beautiful children! Not to mention your relationship with your husband, you’re such a fabulous “team.” Your love and devotion to God has to be the key! God bless you all, Joanne 😊❤️🙏
I just need to know Laura, what brand of shovel is that, I’ve already destroyed one pitchfork and the season is just getting started 😂 good job for showing that red bud who was boss 💪🏼
I got my fiberglass handle shovel at Home Depot. After breaking 3 shovels in 6 years, the fiberglass handle shovel has held up to me and my much stronger son for 15 years.
Was coming here to ask that. I’ve only owned shovels with wood handles and so far I’ve snapped a few of them taking out shrubs and big hostas 🤬😂
I moved one last year so I sure know what you went through and it was one that just sprouted on the other side of our fence so I had to keep going back and forth within the yard to get to it and finally after cutting some of the roots too I got it and it’s displayed in the center of our yard in a new flower bed as it’s one tree I had always wanted and I figured it grew there just for me so although it was free, I surely worked for it and I’m 63! Kudos to all your hard work and honestly it’s you that has motivated me to do all that I do in our yard since I first started watching you!! Just love everything you and Aaron do!💐💗💐
Yay you are saving the trees.. the beautiful shade they give.. your babies will love getting out of the hot sun under all those trees
That poor Cercis...that was some brutal digging out. Fingers crossed your careful nurturing will see it through. But always worth making a planting hole in the new location before digging something large out. Can't afford to let the roots dry out.
Also hope you can get some stakes to demarcate where the power and storm sewer are. That transition into the new land looks very promising. Nice to end the geometric formality of the ex moon garden with a swoop of brick.
That was brutal! You expressed it more diplomatically than what I was thinking while watching it. Hope viewers don’t take that as an example to emulate.
@@anngriffith7932 it was hard to watch...but we've all been in similar situations when a plant surprises us and have to keep going regardless.
Whew! I feel you with the tree digging. I ended up with disc compression and ongoing problems with sciatica from several trees like that, so hopefully never again for you! Also got trigger finger. Orthopedic doctor said gardening brings him patients. Never would have thought it.
Teaching Benjamin to be safe around the tractor, kitties, and watching Laura struggle with that tree-great video! I often wonder if my neighbors think I’m crazy as I jump on the shovel trying to move plants around my yard 😆. It is amazing how mulch transforms a bed! Now you just need to remember where all the utility lines are. 😊
I was cracking up at all your positions with the shovel 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 and hoping that shovel didn’t break 😳😳😳😳😳
That was some good publicity for that shovel!
Right? I broke a shovel handle doing that, so was expecting to see it. Glad it didn't happen.
@@joannecraft-lane8660 I have too !!!!!!!! Landed on my butt and all I could do was laugh 😂
I so enjoyed seeing Laura on the tractor
Good morning everyone! It’s a good day for a good day! I just have to say that we are finishing up our veggie a garden and much of my inspiration for it has been gleaned from watching your videos Over the last 5 years or so. Thanks for living life out loud and encouraging others with your knowledge and willingness to have your space and projects out in public for us to witness. So truly thankful for you!!
Laura vs. Red Bud! 🏝 Laura, you are such a great example of determination and perseverance. After all that struggle with the Red Bud I would have been ! However, you went on to dig out another tree, re-plant the trees, move rocks and spread mulch. WTG Laura! Your energy level truly amazes me! 💚
Hope you had a beautiful Easter!
The amount of stuff you get done is so impressive. This would be at least two full weekends for work for me. And I’d be laying on the ground crying by the end of it 😂
Oh Laura, this video and the video of you wrestling 60’ of landscape fabric in the wind does my soul a world of good. For this is how I feel most of my garden projects are like. And I think, is it just me?!!! Thank you to you and Aaron for sharing your knowledge and experiences. I love your videos and i refer to them often as I plan new areas in my own garden.
Wow! That trenching work is massive! Fun time for Benjamin and cat peeking. What a big garden and great to be able to do as you please, and of course with the support of family and friends. Spring has really sprung. Thanks for the update and inspiration.
It's amazing how big Benjamin has gotten. And he is so helpful in the garden I love it. Good job Benjamin
Oh. my .lanta!
I SO remember how contankerously difficult digging up redbud trees can be. ( I'm pushing 60 now) those days of struggle were back in my youth.😂 I'm watching this video while resting from a simple transplanting of some pots into the ground!!😂
Old age and arthritis creeps up and hits you in the joints eventually. Ugh. Creatively...I understand how you come to your design process. It makes perfect sense. I honestly didn't get lost through your walk today at all. I'm seeing such amazing vision. Yes! Aaron's foresight with infrastructure...WHAT a blessing!!! (And loads of fun for Benjamin)
Girl...you're living the life👍❤️
God bless you guys!
I love how involved Benjamin is getting! So fun! An alternative title for this video could be "perseverance." That Redbud may have owned you, but you showed it who was boss!
Absolutely hilarious footage digging the redbud. I just planted my second one and decided I wanted to move it the feet. Now I'm glad that I let it sit for a few days before filling in the hole, so I just had to dig a new hole
Benjamin is so strong!! What an awesome helper.
Visions will come in time! Take your time and take all the time you need to plan. It sounds like you are going to have a major summer of remodeling , plus more to your house. After sideways and green grass it will be amazing!!! As you look back at the videos we enjoy you will realize what a major accomplishment you two have done already.
Everytime you mention giving plants away, a little part of me moves there to be your neighbor 😂
Teehee.
We need some " What would Laura do" merch. Love to see you all out there as a family. Your a force of nature Laura.
"Like a pro" is right Laura. You did a great job, after the mulch was down it looked amazing. Both trees actually. Benjamin the great helper 💖
Finally I see a project that looks like me in the garden fighting rocks and roots. 😂 I love redbuds!
If you can see it you can achieve it.. visualization is an important part of obtaining what you want. I have faith in you Laura. Thanks for sharing 😊🙏🏽
Yes I hydrangea plenty of them. My favorite
Using mulch and rocks to define a flower bed. Yes I've learned to do it. Thank you Laura!!
You are such an inspiration 🥰 so humble and modest, and the way you handled that mulch. Haha! I have never driven a tractor, that would be so intimidating at first. Way to go. I’m sure you grew up driving them though. So no biggie for you now. The tree placement looks great and the path idea sounds wonderful and cohesive to the rest of the plan. The more I watch and see the transformation the easier it is to see your vision. 😃
Next trip should be a day spa and a massage. That effort with the Red Bud was well worth it.
If you're like me, your creative energy is in need of some rejuvinating down time, enjoying the peace of the garden. Full on relaxation, then next plan. It's going to look fabulous. Fun watching your journey!
LOL- that would absolutely have been me struggling to get those trees out. Glad you finally got them both and I like the improv with the sawz-all!
Laura is hilarious!!! LOVE-LOVE-LOVE the plan for the new space and its connection with the exist. LOVE-LOVE-LOVE!!!!!!
This video was super satisfying to watch! And your high tunnel divided into two looks so darned cute out there!
Wow ... I totally agree with you on the first week of spring .... I waited all winter to feel this soar and I am loving it .... What's up with that ... ??? ... Hehee
I love that you drive the tractor. I grew up with my mom and myself doing all the landscaping and the front end loaders are so handy! Mom now has a skid steer which is so much safer and can get in tight spaces. I need one as our tractor is so light that it is tippy when the bucket is full. They dont make them like they used to! Also if you got a skid steer your paths wouldn't have to be so wide.
Love watching it all come together!
Everything looks great!
