hey buddy, if you love to see America then you should check out the Wichita mountains in Oklahoma, a beautiful location and one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world with vast endless vistas and amazing wildlife

4:06 Andre, I used to work at Costco. They deliberately lose money on certain items, so that you are in the store.
For instance, you buy your car tires at Costco, and they are losing money on those tires, because they know you're going to be in the store for 2 hours and they will totally make their money back.
So literally the Costco membership is worth it, the very first time you buy a set of tires. You save more money than the cost of the membership.
The gasoline is usually cheaper than all the other gas in town as well.
Many items are far less expensive. For instance, at Sam's club which is Costco's rival, ground beef, is still $4 a pound
9:17 Andre, you have heard of Dunkin donuts, they are famous for their coffee, this is coffee that is supposed to taste exactly like that. That's why they call it donut shop, cuz in America you can't use somebody's actual brand name without permission
The words fancy and Walmart do not belong in the same sentence. Walmart is actually extremely low end. Hence why it baffles most Americans why Europeans consider Walmart a tourist destination.
Exactly, I nearly spit my water out laughing when he said "fancy" with Walmart. I guess someone needs to get him to watch some People of Walmart videos so he gets it. 🤣
The membership requirement is a pretty good buffer to keep the real crazies out of Costco.
If you’ve been to Europe, you understand. They don’t have megastores like this where you can buy everything in one place. It’s like when Americans visit their outside massive markets (like our farmers markets but significantly better) as a tourist attraction.
@@FirstNameLastName-wt5toCostco is in Europe
I think it's about criticizing the low end people, the magats/trumptards. 🙂
My Dad worked at Costco for several years, so here’s some facts:
1. Costco never marks up their products more than 15% above cost. They make their money on the memberships and other smaller income streams.
2. They pay their workers very well. If one works in retail, Costco jobs are highly coveted.
3. They are the second biggest wine buyer in the world. Their corporate wine expert goes to all the major wine events.
4. I think they’re also the biggest seller of organic and keto foods, if you are into health and fitness.
5. Their $1.50 hot dog and soda is iconic. The price hasn’t changed since 1985.
You have to add the rotisserie chicken as a huge bargain and soooo good.
Walmart's version of Costco is called Sam's Club and you need a membership there, too. Costco and Sam's Club are comparable.
Ah ok
There's also BJ's Wholesale as yet another option.
Walmart has cheap items for cheap. Costco has higher quality items at a very good deal.
For over 40 years, Costco has sold the hot dog with a soda at the food court for $1.50. They have also sold a hot ready-to-eat- rotisserie chicken for $4.99 for over 30 years. They refuse to raise the price of these items or lower their quality and it's fantastic!
That must be the first time anyone has ever said "Walmart seems a bit more fancy" LOL
Yes, Walmart is a regular retail store, whereas Costco calls itself a "club warehouse store". You have to pay a membership fee, and they sell items in bulk in a warehouse setting. Costco only sells a limited number of items and has far fewer options For example, in Walmart, if you want ketchup, they will have 50 different varieties, each one available in multiple sizes. At Costco, they will only have one or two options, and you will be required to buy two enormous bottles that will last you a year or more. But the cost is often substantially lower than the same amount and type of ketchup purchased at Walmart. It makes good sense for larger families, but less so for individuals buying just for themselves. At Costco, the store's back inventory is held on high shelves immediately above the items, rather than in a back stock room.
Normally, you need to be a member to get in, but it seems like they sweet talked their way in. Normally if you go to the exit, and tell the checker you need to go to the membership desk, you can just keep walking and go into the store without a problem. You will need a membership card to buy anything however.
Apple can kiss my...
Android user for life.
Ditto......DROIDS!
Ditto. Droid Family gather here!!!
Same. Hi Droid fam!!
I've never heard anyone describe "Walmart as "fancy." 😆Costco is a warehouse wholesaler where they sell items in bulk. That's probably why it feels more industrial.
Years ago. I read an article about a Dollar store opening in a small town. One of the new shoppers liked it because, "You don't have to get dressed up like you do to go to Walmart."
Those are coffee pods for a Keurig coffee maker. There are 100 pods that will make 100 cups of coffee.
Amazing deal right?
I love Costco and have been a longtime member. The cheaper gas alone will offset your membership dues. I have the executive plan and get cash back at the end of the year which pays for my renewal. You can tell the staff is better paid and treated well because it is reflected in the service you get there.
I enjoyed this.
That was just a brand of regular coffee for Keurig coffee makers.
❤ and blessings from CALIFORNIA. 🇺🇲
I’ve never heard fancy and Walmart in the same sentence before. 😂
Really? Oh wow.
Exactly. I avoid Walmart.
I've been a Sam's Club member for over 20 years. I like their produce, bakery and fresh products. I love shopping there. It's a great place to shop if you have kids. Diapers and wipes are worth the price of a membership.
The prices are above the products. People keep mistaking which price tag they are looking at.
Costco membership is so worth it. If you get the Executive Membership at $120 per year, you get 2% cash back in every purchase. My parents used to spend $8000 a year at Costco just on groceries, and would make enough on the cash back it’d pay for the membership and they’d have extra left over. Some pair that with the Costco Visa card with 4% back, and you have a huge incentive.
Hey Andre, this month my snack crate subscription is from Portugal I'm so excited to try all the snacks
when you checkout, you have to have your membership card for the machine. that's why they can't buy stuff. but usually you can get a temporary card called a 'day pass' that is active for that day only. this is sort of a 'test drive' for the store to attract new members. I don't know why they couldn't get one, they don't explain, but all the stores do it. so it's really good for visitors (from other countries) BUT you don't need the card to buy from the food court. and they won't kick you out for not having a card, the door greeter will just direct you to the customer service desk.
I'd guess it's because they aren't US residents.
The membership for Sam’s & Costco only cost like 60/65 bucks (per year) and you get a buddy pass to share w/ friends & family. The membership will absolutely pay for itself in a single visit
Edit: It’s actually $55 for Sam’s and right now till the 31st of July Sam’s has a half off deal on the membership so it’s only $25! Hope this helps someone out who reads my comment🤗
$55 for Sam's and $65 for Costco for their basic memberships respectively... and you're right one visit just about pays for that. definitely if you make a large trip.
@@mbourque You’re right $55 for the basic at Sam’s & from now till the 31st of July they’re having a half off deal on membership so it’s only $25! Just got mine😊 If anyone’s interested go for it!
I have a Costco membership and used to have a Sam's but, now have BJ's instead. I actually prefer the BJ's.
Dang, I just renewed my Sam's membership at $50!!
I finally tasted a Costco hotdog! It was SO GOOD! Quality, quantity, tasty, meaty, juicy, hanging off the bun! The soda was strong, cold, and not watered down! It was the best hotdog I’ve tasted in years!
Andre, the Blue Angels are flying over my house right now. They are here this weekend for the Cherry Festival here in Traverse City, Michigan.
Costco charges $60 a year. Costco is a warehouse store, meaning no fancy displays, while Walmart is a discount store. Costco also has discount gas stations.
Walmart has their version of Costco called "Sam's Club". I belong to that. Same exact concept! Also has the hot food .
Andre quick tip: whatever American food you try (especially BBQ)try it in person at a restaurant that makes it. For example those burnt ends are probably good, for a packaged food. Not meant to be anyone's first experience with BBQ. That stuff is mainly to reheat at home for parties or family meals.
Walmart's copy of Costco is called Sam's Club. The membership is $50 for the year.
Costco membership pays for itself in weeks and I don't even buy much. The gas alone is worth it. Costco is generally nice, clean, and welcoming with free samples and helpful well paid employees. Wal Mart is basically the opposite of all of that. Though Wal Mart has its uses it's generally unpleasant and to be avoided if at all possible.
Costco has a more commercial or industrial feel with its massive size and layout but their products are vetted very well and employees have very good pay and benefits. They are far superior to Walmart and Sam's Club. You should find videos about Costco and how they run their company. It's very fascinating and unique.
14:50
sometimes when we don't feel like cooking after being out for a long time. we stop and grab a whole pizza to bring home. it's around $10 at Sam's which on the way home for us.
"Cornhole" is a beanbag game that became very popular in the early 2000s. Cornhole is pretty consistently played outdoors, mostly by adults (in contrast to many earlier beanbag-throwing games that were mainly played indoors and by children). People frequently make their own cornhole sets, but you can also buy them.
The Apple iPhone is significantly more popular than any specific manufacturer's brand of Android phones; but there are multiple manufacturers making Android phones, and only one Apple, so Android phones are collectively more popular overall.
I think Macarons are more popular in Europe (particularly in France), than in America. However, as with many things, America probably has some flavors of them, that are not necessarily found in Europe. Like, somebody somewhere probably makes root beer flavored macarons, for example. And I'm *certain* there must be somebody in America selling PSL flavored macarons.
The $9 package of brisket is probably a pretty good deal for $9, but if you want it to be amazing like you're probably thinking, you'd need special equipment to cook it slowly at a carefully controlled temperature for hours and hours.
I think that's a box of 100 single-serving coffee packets, for one of those coffee machines that brews a single cup at a time.
Yes, the major national brands of disposable baby diapers in America are Huggies, Pampers, and Luvs. There are of course also store brands. Adult diapers, naturally, have a completely different set of brands (Attends, Depend, Always, Assurance, etc.)
We don't have Costco in my geographical region, but we do have Meijer, so I'm not complaining.
You can buy a one day pass to buy. Memberships are a GREAT deal. There is also Sam's club ( which is owned by Walmart), and BJs, which are essentially the same. I shopped at mostly Sam's Club due to its location. Like many Americans, i had a large refrigerator and a second freezer. The quality of everything is great including the bakery where they bake things themselves. I would then go to my local grocery store for the items that i couldn't get at Sams, or i didn't want to buy a huge amount at once. A lot of families share a memberhip. I bet if they spoke about wanting to buy, someone would have offered to let them use their membership.
I LOVE my samsung and gave my ipad away.
Your thoughts on the Red and Blue Solo Cups makes perfect sense actually. But we use them interchangeably for any kind of drinks.
I have a Samsung Galaxy 23S Ultra, and I LOVE IT. My family was split Samsung/iPhone - 3 of the iPhoners switched to Samsung this year!! You couldn't pay me to have an iphone.
I went to Costco today and saved $30 on items that were on sale and paid significantly less for items than they would be at the grocery store. You can cover your annual membership fee in 2 trips not 10. The Kirkland (Costco brand) diapers were $34.99 for 100. Pampers would be $44.99 for the same size package and Huggies were $44.99 for 75.
Andre, COSTCO is a "Members Only" warehouse store. That's why it looks "Industrial". Walmart has similar warehouse stores that are called "Sam's Club". Personal membership costs $60.00 per year.
Apple probably has the bigger market share in America, but Android is also very popular. I've disliked Apple my whole life, being a PC modder since I was little. So when it was time to buy my first smartphone, I went with Samsung Galaxy, and have been perfectly happy with them ever since.
OMG...the burned ends when I make roast beef....is the jewel of the meal. Tender with a smoky charcoal flavor that's to die for.
My mom had to get baby wipes from Costco just for my little brother when he was a baby. The deal for it is worth it. Especially when there is a sale. Also: the sizes are perfect for a family with active children. It seriously has helped my parents when I was growing up with my younger sister and our little brother.
The pizza slice is $2, and the hot dog is $1.50 and comes with a free drink with unlimited refills. So $3.50 total.
I can still go to my 7-11 and get 2 hotdogs for 1$ and a slice of pizza for 1.50. Those prices aren't really cheap, just cheaper than some places.
Walmart is NOT fancy at all. It’s inventory is typically cheaper or standard items. Plus, their stores aren’t always clean or tidy.
Where I am in the Midwest, there are two “wholesale” stores, Costco & Sams. Sams is actually owned by Walmart, but just like Costco. When you buy the membership they normally give you coupons that exceed the fee. Not that you’d want everything the coupons are for, but it helps. 🤷♀️ The brisket was probably $9 per pound.
I live 5 minutes from a costco....everyone and their brothers go there for the cheap but great food......
Costco seems like warehouse shopping. My son likes it because he has the room to store a huge package of paper towels, for instance.
You don’t need to go 10-20 times to justify the membership at all. There are many benefits to the membership and different tier levels. The most basic is $60 and the other is $120 for the year, but you get a percentage cash back on your purchases. If you don’t make at least $60 in cash back then they will just give you money back so that you really only paid $60 for the membership. If you go a lot, then you could make more back than you spent on the membership. People also can buy gas at many locations. You can also return anything for just about any reason. I’ve returned opened food items for a feel refund just because I didn’t like it. Costco is amazing. Oh, and can’t forget the cafeteria where you get a massive hot dog and drink for $1.50, and much more
Donuts is Donut shop coffee pods. They go into a single serve machine . Each pod makes one cup.
Walmart Fancy.... no, no, no, no. Costco just sells more bulk items, larger quantities for families. They also do sell some higher end brands, that Walmart doesn't sell. Costco can sell at discount prices because of their membership revenue.
Walmart is definitely not fancy. In Denver they are fairly trashy, but prices are lower than Target (next comparable store).
Costco is leagues above Walmart stores in terms of being a good and nice environment. Very funny to Americans phrase you made there, friend. Burnt ends are beyond delicious and while a bit charred are NOT burned. You need an American size fridge for those juice bottles, which fit in easily. The hot dog and soda special is $1.49 and has been that price for many years. It's a loss leader to get folks into the store.
Costco and Sam's are wearhouse stores and sell bulk items or large quantity sizes. I have only ever had an android cell phone cheaper than I-phone and works great.
As a single person, I buy sauerkraut, kombucha, and toilet paper. Sometimes I buy other things like popcorn and cereal.
If you want/need to buy in bulk, you go to Costco or Sam's Club. Sam's Club is a sister warehouse store to Walmart. If you don't have the space to buy in bulk you go to Walmart. There are just certain things that you buy at Costco or Sam's that make it worth buying (she gave the example of diapers) but we buy toilet tissue and paper towels there because it's cheaper to buy in bulk. I wouldn't clothes shop at Sam's but if I wanted to stock up on canned goods and freezer items, bulk buying is the way to go but also even just regular things you consume daily are a good choice because you know they won't go bad before completely consumed.
Just a fact, Nike is an American brand named after the Greek goddess of victory,Nike. Nike is pronounced _ny-key_ 😊
I don’t shop there often, buy I share my CostCo cards (we get two people on each card buy and one card for each of us. I find it really worthwhile. I also like the way CostCo workers are treated (part owners) and the range of first class products. Their Store Brand is Kirkland) and it is wonderful! The other brand name items are not created by the brand just for CostCo. They are Huggies, Ocean Spray cranberry juice but in more commercial sizes. I buy toilet paper every time I do go and keep a stash just in case after the US had the great toilet paper shortage at the beginning of COVID 19, also butter, a
Hi Andre, the confusing item of the 100 donuts or coffee was probably actually 100 K cups (for a Keurig - they are coffee pods that would make 100 cups of coffee). I don't think I would quite describe Walmart as "fancy" but sometimes it's not bad. Things can be pretty affordable, and they often have decent items. It depends what you're looking for. In general, I think Target is the nicer one, Walmart is fine, Costco is bulk items. As for the Puma and Adidas that you noticed, they usually will have some items, but not a wide selection. Inventory can vary.
I've stopped just for dinner before. One slice of pizza and a drink is all you need. I leave stuffed and don't even spend $3. There's literally nowhere else you can get that value. It's like stepping back in time.
Generally speaking Costco has better prices per unit. If you are regularly buying for 5 or 6 or more, you definitely want a Costco membership. The membership can also be helpful if you preserve a lot of food like canning or freeze drying. For just 1 or 2 people bulk perishables may go bad before you have a chance to use them all. "Kirkland", Costco's store brand is generally higher quality than some other store brands. I dropped my membership because I live alone and the nearest Costco is about 40 minutes away.
Costco’s cash cow is their membership fees. That’s where they make most of their money. The second biggest money maker (I believe) is the Kirkland Brand toilet paper.
Costco does not waste money on fancy displays but instead has quality products. Kirkland Signature is Costco's store brand (Costco started in the Seattle area and Kirkland is a more affluent suburb.) Unlike other store brands Kirkland Signature is always good quality. Their target customers are upper middle class so quality is important to them.
The donut coffee are pods for a Keurig coffee maker. It looks like it is a 100 count box of the pods.
Costco, Sam's club (walmart), and a few other places that look like this are what they consider bulk stores. They require a membership and sell at wholesale prices and sizes. I haven't seen many Sam's clubs around since Walmart started making super Walmart (groceries and items) but I'm sure a few still exist.
To answer your question about eating brisket from Costco as your first choice experience: no. Go to a restaurant and do it properly. Brisket is traditionally a low quality meat and it’s only by smoking it for 12+ hours does it become the sumptuous meat that you want to eat. I don’t know what kind of corners they cut to get the brisket to be mass market and sold in a freezer aisle.
It is 100% worth the membership. I am single and I get tons of value out of it.
As far as Walmart vs. Costco. Costco is a warehouse, so it's set up a bit different than a regular store. I'm surprised that you guys don't have more of these Costco kinda stores. If I was shopping and heard them...(No membership card) I'd help them with that. The membership is very inexpensive ($25 per year, not monthly) and it's a great place to get in bulk. I worked in our (California Redwoods coast) Costco when they first opened in 1994. Big $$ saver. Best of wishes to u and your family. I think you're an absolute sweetheart. Hope u make it over someday soon. Love 💕 and light 🕯️. ❤❤❤Nancy Kay
Walmart has it’s own version of Costco called Sam’s Club.
I have a Sams Club membership...which is basically the same warehouse style store...the membership is so worth the money. I have a family of 5 and a cat ...we literally survive because of the prices and huge amounts ... It saves me money and from having to do a grocery shop as often. I usually go once or maybe twice a month.
I watched the original video and they barely showed anything in the store... they only touched on a few things... there is tons in there and lots of costco specials that they never came across... like the $5 Whole Roast Chicken....
Memberships cost around $60. I shop at Costco 4 times a year- and get enough stuff for three months for a family of 4 and it costs me around $400- laundry soap, paper towels, toilet paper, coffee, sugars, flour etc. What you were seeing that has the donuts on the package was coffee pods that you put in a Kerig coffee machine. These stores are warehouse stores are are for bulk buying. Stores like Walmart are for smaller quantities of stuff. Business people- those who have child daycare centers, concession stands, or restaurants buy in bulk. They would purchase the 25# sacks of flour, 25# of sugar, sacks of rice and pinto beans, etc. So many of the people that shop at Costco are filling their business pantry.
Costco is great if you have a family, or are regularly supplying a group of people.
What Costco doesn't spend on decorating or clothing racks or any number of other fanciful fix-ups is translated to the lower prices they are able to offer the consumers .
That was a game called cornhole it’s a bean bag you toss into the hole on that board from 21 steps away while being in teams of two
if you have the money and space (in pantry and fridge/freezer) then costco/sam's is the better choice.. if you're limited on either money or space, then walmart is the better choice.
André the thing about the armed solo cup is there’s a song by Toby Keith who is a a veteran which you should check out his songs he’s even got American dedicated songs for military
A few more things:
No, Costco brisket should not be your first brisket.
Burnt ends are amazing.
The donut thing was actually a coffee flavor. They were keurig cups.
Try the green card lottery!
Sometimes I do just go to Costco to pick up food cause it’s affordable 😂
I have an Android phone too! Mine is a Motorola Edge+. I don't understand the hate on Androids, I've had no issues and it's very good quality.
** Work at Costco. And YES, we do have many people just stop in to try the Samples, and eat from the Food Court, for their Lunch Hour.
Don't feel bad. There might actually be people who divide up their drinks by color, so people don't get something they don't want. And when you have your parties, you can do it any way you want. You might look up drink markers and see what comes up. They started with wine markers that went around the stem of the glass and, of course, people ran with it.
Walmart has a store like Costco. It's called Sam's. There's a membership fee, but you get it back with cash back. So, you get your membership fee back the more you spend.
Better than costco?
@@european-reacts- In my opinion no. Sam’s has some items that are good, so if you coming to America, go checkout both. If you find one in one city, you are likely to find the other.
André, Walmart is not a direct competitor to Costco. Costco is for bulk buying. Walmart has Sam's Club, which sells in bulk much like Costco. You should watch a video about Sam's Club.
the costco lunch is definatly a thing. If you have a membership and some time - you don't even have to buy anything - there are samples being prepared all over place - you can just walk around and graze on samples. no need to buy lunch. Costco is an institution.
Walmart and fancy should never be uttered in the same sentence
Thats coffee pods for a kurig coffee maker
Not often but once in awhile when I’m there to get gas I will go in and have a quick lunch.
Andre, Costco has a store in Seville, Spain, that's not too far from you.
Rent a van and make it a day trip.
You only need to present you meenbership card/number at checkout, but not when entering so, yeah you can go and explore 😂
It’s $60 for a Costco membership and you get two cards so it’s worth it if you have a family
Burnt ends and brisket are amazing, but I'd suggest you get it at a restaurant. Pre-cooked/packaged food is never going to do the flavor justice
They do not check your membership to buy from the food court so yes, anybody can stop in and get something to eat.
love costco. i'll grab cornish hens or burgers to throw into my air fryer on days i just want to chill.
Fellow android user for exactly the same reason, cant figure out the draw
Here are a list of things you can do in Costco without a membership:
1) look around and try free samples
2) use the pharmacy
3) get an eye exam
4) eat at the food court
5) buy anything you want so long as you have a Costco Shop Card (their gift card) to use as your Costco ID at the register. seriously you don't even have to use the gift card to pay just to act as your Costco ID then pay by cash or credit. (the catch being you need someone who's a member to get you the gift card)
6) buy alcohol (only in 14 of the 50 states)
I wish I could have a Costco closer to my home the nears one is like 45mins away but we do have a Costco distribution center in town which people can work at.
When you see those large package of foods, snacks it is usually for field trips or snacks
For sports teams for kids or classroom a family reunions or larger family that pack treats or lunches ect….ect. They are not eaten all
In one day, unless someone is
Glutton for Punishment
I use samsung but that's only because it's more sturdy of a phone.
Cosco is like walmarts sams club the membership is cheap and its great for bulk and they have Nike adidas and other nice brands for cheap
We go to Costco all the time for the lunch. It's cheap and delicious!
You can go in and look around. However you can not buy unless you have a member that has a card and pay for you. Then you can pay them back. If you are an American, you can go in, look around, put stuff in a cart and go over to join right then.
Is now when we tell you there are two types of Costco? 1) Costco Wholesale (the Costco you've seen in video) and 2) Costco Business Center. Costco Business Center is, as the name would suggest, geared towards supplying businesses and has things from office supplies & furnishings to things ready for retail sale to food and appliances for the food industry and more. The $60 annual membership fee grants you access to either style of Costco.
The cup says Pepsi, but it is only the cup, they might have actually gotten Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, Orange, and root beer....
Yes, we do there just to ear. You can buy a whole pizza for $10
Its not doughnuts, its doughnut shop coffee pods! but a very good deal!
