I have a red hulk plush from McDonalds when the toys came out last May. I don't khow how I feel about Disney. Someone at the parks in a wheelchair and a defibliator was not given the disabillity pass. I got the hulk plushie before all this happened. As someone who has three disabilities, it broke my heart when I heard the news. I do want Marvel comics and Disney merch, but I feel I am gong to have to buy it used.
Wow that is really horrible and I understand. I would think maybe what happened isn't the reflection of Disney as a whole but maybe one or two workers that didn't know what they were doing? I don't know though.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture They changed tjir policy when it come to the parks. People have been taking advantage and that is why Disney changed the policy. You have to do an interview with a park memeber and you have to sign a contract that you cannot sue Disney. Thanks for understanding.
Normally Jerno doesn't push particular books as must buys. Red Hulk will go up but it will fall later when the hype calms down. The profit has sailed away on the book now. You needed it within minutes of the trailer dropping. If Red Hulk becomes a thing you genuinely like the price isn't that big a deal. If you want the book. The hype does hold but only very long term. The movie has the hype period but long term it works thereafter slowly. The movie does go on. But slowly.
I don't ever push books as a must buy, and neither did I push this one as a must buy. The title was tongue in cheek sarcasm people of people jumping into FOMO because of a trailer. I keep my point regarding movie hype very simple these days: If you're buying a comic after a trailer releases, you're probably buying it for the wrong reasons, and at the wrong time, and you most likely will get burned. Movie spec is not tangible and doesn't do anything for the intrinsic value of books.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture No, movie spec and the movie itself usually does bring in some more permanent fans. A lot are there just when it's hot, but some hang around thereafter.
@@noahidecomics Oh definitely. The MCU has created a whole new love for super heroes and the comics, especially with this younger generation. I'm going to make a video talking more in depth about this.
Hey Chris! Glad to see you back in action. I don't own that book and probably never will. Honestly, I don't think I'm missing out on anything. I mean, I'm excited for the movie but I'm done specing on MCU books.
Spot on! I can't count the times I've slapped my veins in mid hunt at the site of hyped comic or one on my want list. I give some credit to the movie hype as it helped me to reconnect with the hobby. I personally think it is hilarious and sad at how costly some of these books become. I know as a reader/collector I have been taken advantage of numerous times. I was lucky enough to get this issue in the back bins under $5. They also had the next issue, but I had it already and kindly left it.
Being excited for these characters in movies has definitely organically brought collectors back into the comics, but what we are seeing these days isn't that, for sure. I'm going to break down the evolution of this idea in a video real soon.
I’m just a collector. Been collecting since the 80’s. I preorder books at cover. I collect what I like. I don’t chase books. Half the time I’m digging in my long boxes to see if I have whatever the hot books is at the moment. I collected Red Hulk from its release. Somewhere in the low 40s(issue number). I had 4 copies and gave(not sold) 2 to my LCS. Have 1 graded and 1 raw copy. Not a flipper or seller.
the last Marvel films I cared about was Logan and the first Iron Man, and first Captain America and the Winter Soldier, but that's the extent of it, was done after those and feel nothing after those, so this movie doesn't mean anything to me, I'm happy for those that do, we all like what we like, I also don't Movie speculate, I just love the hobby and enjoy it and get what I like, never because of any movie news, that's a fool's errand. great video by the way as always.
I would politely challenge the idea that all interest "helps" comics. Interest for the wrong reasons can muddy a market and make it extremely volatile, and that's what we saw with comics, the stock market, and many other things during Covid, and that's what we are seeing with comic book movie spec. It's not sustainable and it's not helping the industry as a whole, because only a small group of people actually profit off of the "interest," while most people get burned out from playing into a game they don't understand.
I played the comic book speculator game very good in the 80s then had my azz handed to me in the early 90s when everyone and his mother dived into the comic book glut era! If you wanna play, play with money that doesn't dip into your bills. Get in and get out quick and don't melt down if the book keeps going up. Be happy you made some $$. Move on.
I just bought (2) 1:50 versions (1 being a 9.8 blue label and 1 of them being a 9.4 yellow label by accident) for my son a month ago for about $200/ea. So glad I stopped stalling and bought it for him. Should I sell right now and buy back later?
Thanks for commenting and watching. If you bought them for your son, did you buy them as gifts for him or to still try to make money on them? My overall response on this about when you should sell or hold or buy again is this: we have to stop treating every comic book like a stock that's really going to make people money buy moving them back and forth. Meaning, the ROI (return on investment) for shortselling one or two copies of this book probably isn't going to make a dent in your wallet to even take the time and the effort to move them around like a day trader. But, if you HAD to sell them, it's very likely that they will be worth more in the next few months than they will a couple years from now, when the movie hype is gone. BUT, they very well could intrinsically increase over the next decade.
@JernosComicsPopCulture Yeah I bought it as a gift but the 9.4 Signature series of the 1:50 I won by accident (I forgot about my bid on ebay 😅) so I'm going to throw that one up on eBay for $500 which is high enough it might not sell but if it does I'd be thrilled
It doesn’t really matter if the movie is good, it’s going to depend on how much money it makes. Depending on word of mouth, this movie needs to make over $1 billion dollars to even break even, not make profit. I personally think even it is a great movie, it won’t make that and will lose money.
Yeah that's a good point, but for me, I only care about it being a good movie, but I'm only one person. I hope it can do at least decently money wise, and have a decent fan reaction.
Nope, I will never buy another book around movies until the hype is long gone. The burn 🔥 is no joke😅 if i do buy a book ill consider your input over alot of these youtube fakers. I found you after a son of komics post ❤❤❤
