Jerry, I am always happy to watch you shoot. The whole issue of muzzle flash at dusk and dark has been a concern to me. Especially with a ported barrel. Now I have seen exactly what the impact is for factory and some and the impact of some reloads. I will have to admit I was wrong. Thanks again for your skill and expertise.
When I frst started out as a LEO, we used revolvers in 38 in the mid 70's. We got some Super Vel 125 gr ammo for duty. That flashed so bright (about 4' fireball) that it should have been visible from space. Night shooting you saw the target then after the first round all you saw were blue and purple spots in front of your eyes.
holy shit...now I know why alot of old school officers always wore those huge Poncherello ( CHiP ) sunglasses with the mirrored lenses ...it wasnt a fasion statement, but a desperate attempt at not being blind
@joemarchinski914 That is exactly right! No joke and the smell of lead and powder back in the day, lmao! But for real you could be spotted 👀 if you where trying to hide so not good for military use.
About 40 years ago my buddy got a VCR camera and we made a shooting video in the dark. As I recall similar result's. Next time I am out camping I will do a little low light shooting with my carry ammo just to get the education. Thanks Jerry. NDR
To this very day ! The most memorable also informative gun talk I have ever had , was talking black rifles , specifically gas impingement versus piston drive . Present and sounding off with individual thoughts and opinion , Jim Clark Jr ( Godspeed Mr. Clark Jr. You are missed , never forgotten ) , Jerry and of course Kay , and in no particular order Bill whom never met a stranger. For nearly 45 minutes and honed in and clear as a diamond , four of , the most learned and experienced folks in the business. Talking only gas impingement versus piston drive , the individual , the environment it will live in , and why would a buyer purchase “A solution to a problem that does not exist, for you “. From that conversation , after years of thought and research I went gas impingement with a proprietary mid length gas tube . Of course , my only regret , I did not have the funds to get that rifle and then a superior rifle smithed by Clark and Crew .
Mr. J. Wow, You are so inspirational. You look wonderful, so glad You are doing Great! Thanks for sharing Your Knowledge, Confidence and Techniques. Been Watching You & Your Family for a long time. "Camera Doesn't Lie!" Merry Christmas🎄 & A Healthy, Happy New Year. Chris and Rick From Chicago ❤️
Jerry, you being your humble self, whilst just blasting off a few rounds so fast as if it was nothing and then saying “you know, it didn’t distract me at all…” just cracks me up. Keep up the fun work!
I shot a 44 magnum a couple of years ago for the first time. The muzzle flash was so huge, that you thought I was shooting from a cannon. I have a picture of it.
Had an AMT .22 magnum Automag. Beautiful gun. Shooting it once at night I was shocked being blinded for nearly a minute. Got rid of it the following day.
The man shoots faster than I can hear. Had to watch the video on 1/4 speed on one round of shooting. I could have sworn he only did 4 shots but it was six.
One reason I used to favor the 45 ACP over the 9mm or 357 Mag for carry was the lower muzzle flash and blast. This was before flash suppressed powders were as prevalent. Now, I load a lot of Silhouette powder, since it allows me to match even the speediest factory +P loads carried by major LE agencies and do it without a huge fireball.
When I got my .357 Coonan one of the things I did was load up some slower burning powder to see if I could get that 'flash' on their adverts... I will say the flash from HS6 in that beauty is impressive!
Jerry, you are not only a badass it's obvious you're a good man. You can see in the videos how much you love your family. For those who don't know his wife and daughter are both get some goddesses. Merry Christmas to the whole family, i love the story about you delivering Lena on the range.
Subbed! Just was turned on to your work. Noticed you got hands just like my dad. Then realized you got our arms. Then I got told there are no craots in Louisiana. So I had to explain oyster beds.lol
In South Africa the duty ammunition is less powerful than the civilian loads mainly to reduce collateral damadge in a crowded civilian environment.Even rubber bullets are now reduced rubber .
Good info regarding the different powders. Having shot a few times at night in the past, I was shocked at how much the flash can flat out blind the shooter. Like anything with shooting, getting familiar with that through training is a good idea. After firing one shot in your home in self defense, in the dark, will you be okay vision wise, or will you be incapacitated for a few (precious) seconds?
Out at night, my friends 30.06 Garand would put out a six-foot long muzzle flash...but my 303 British Jungle carbine with that cone-shaped factory flash hider would put out a golf-ball sized yellow flash...
@@EarthAltar dang. That is crazy. I found some ammo at acadamy the last time that I was there. I can't remember what brand. Cause to me. You should not use your defense ammo at the range. Defense ammo is way too expensive to hit paper.
Great video as the argument of porting or compensating on carry guns is increasingly being debated. Hard to tell on video because frame rate affects how the viewer sees the flash. Personally I don’t think mussel flash is a problem in low light. I have used my Macro and Athena in low light and I believe the advantages out way any negatives.
Jerry, just wondering , with everything constant, why when shooting the same loads sometimes there is no flash and other times quite a substantial flash. Thanks
I think that's an artifact caused by the shutter rate of the camera. The flash is always there, but just for microseconds. If the shutter opens right before the flash, it shows. If it opens a split second later, the burst goes unseen. Like when you see a video of a new car and the LED lights appear to be flashing, but to the eye they are not.
Jerry , I have a question .. Do you have a semi auto pistol that gives you a problem of out running it ??? If so in competition has it ever effected your score
Exactly why i run shield plus performance center and critical duties. Lol. When people speculate, just know they're wrong. Most people don't understand physics.
Jerry friggen BURNED through that M&P10. I have one that's not ported, the 4.6in version, and it kicks so much harder than my P320 Xten, my G40, my G20, and hurts to shoot more than my G29. That being said, I wouldn't mind getting it ported now that I have video proof that it actually appears to help with recoil. And I've been using the Hornady 175gr Flexlocs since day one in it.
Never fails to impress. Can't get over how quick Jerry's trigger pinky is 😄
This is A+ content. Whoever is doing your editing now is worth the investment.
A day at the range with Jerry M is on my bucket list.

Hodgdon has a 110 gr 357 mag load recipe using H110 that will turn night to day even out of a rifle..
😂😂😂

You, Sir, are a Machine !!!😉👊👍🇺🇸
Fantastic content. Definitely a great reason to keep up to date on your carry ammo.
Not typically a Winchester ammunition fan, but their 9mm 147gr Silvertip HP is a very low flash, devastating on impact ammunition.

Love seeing the glow of the lazer through the hand. It's like the Terminators red eye glowing in search and destroy mode. 😎
When he drops the gettin some quote I die a look inside from laughing lol 😂
Get some!
I like it when Jerry learns a lot with us I don't feel so stupid 😁😆😉🐝
Some slow mo or freeze frame would be nice to see the contrast in the new vs old ammo tech
" I was gettin some, right there "
Love you, Jerry.
Thank you for another fine video Mr. Jerry

I could watch this all the time.
Jerry, you being your humble self, whilst just blasting off a few rounds so fast as if it was nothing and then saying “you know, it didn’t distract me at all…” just cracks me up.
Keep up the fun work!
I think Jerry was shooting so fast the next bullet blew out the muzzle flash from the one before it.
ONLY ONE wheelgun? Jerry, you're breaking my heart with all those damn bottom feeders!!
The only Guntuber I’ve seen on the inter webs who can mix freedom seeds and find the right caliber
I like ported as well, but never shot mine at night either. So thanks for the lesson. Cheers.
Dammit Jerry! You make it look so easy!
Admittedly, one of the coolest things about firearms
shooting a ported gun from inside a car and at close range taught me to leave ports off a defensive pistol.
Wish vortex would get in this decade with their pistol optics. They need to kick it up a notch
you have the best job on the planet jerry !
God bless you for sharing !
Very timely - thanks!❤
Great video. Thanks for doing this!
That intro is awesome! Get sum!
Greetings from Brazil! You're the best!
That was a nice demonstration.

You should shoot a M44 Mosin. They always have an impressive muzzle flash.
Some Hodgdon H110 in that 44mag will do wonders at night :D
I wish I could get some with one of my guns as good as you do LOL thanks for the video Jerry

Hell, I think Jerry could get off 2 shots from one round, before the bullet even leaves the damn barrel!!💥💥⚡️
Black powder revolvers are an absolute blast at dusk!
* pun intended

Outstanding video content from the Master ! 👍 If Jerry says ported barrels are the proper way to cheat then we should all Get Some !!!

Muy bueno tu vídeo saludos desde Argentina

I remember when ammo would spit out fireballs about a foot to 2 feet in diameter depending on what caliber and load lol
I know one thing, if I had a ported 10mm I would run the Hornady ammo in it. Thanks Jerry. Have a great weekend! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
@@EarthAltar I did see where you can shoot 40 through it. So, I tried it and it does work.

I just love watching him shoot! GOAT
Cool video
I feel reallyyyyyyy bad for the guy who tries to mess with Jerry when he’s carrying lol😅
The 2nd time he shot the standard barrel he was just as fast as the ported
Nice
I am so grateful for your accurate information!
4:38 bru for some reason I feel heavily offended 💀 🤣
Whoa please tell us more about your red dot revolver
Luv the T shirt
Good stuff... your "flashy" powder wouldn't happen to be longshot would it?
Could you imagine the poor bastard who tries to rob him at night. Jist blinded by the flash and still get hit a bunch.
You're the Man Jerry. M-L&R. 👍🇺🇲
And which gun , Taurus, Ruger( my personal favorite) or charter arms only because Taurus and charter arms are more in my price range 😂
goodness, gracious, great balls of fire!
I was waiting for a sub nose 357mag for the fire 🔥 show.
38 super automatic have an awesome muzzle flash.
*If only you had a low light high speed camera we could see the round illuminated an inch from the end of the barrel. I could be a NFT!*
Me: How many rounds do you think you’ve fired during your lifetime?
Jerry: Yes.
When it gets dark, Jerry's going to "Get Sum"
What powder did you use for thr reloads? Unique? Blue Dot? Power Pistol?
I'll bet a hearty port flash is better than any citronelle candle for those mosquitoes. 👍

How often do you “rotate” ammo out?
Jerry, what type of powder did you use for the 10mm reloads??

I like critical duty ammo carried it for years on duty
Marry Christmas

Have you had your red dot come of your 10mm while shooting
Jerry needs too get a 4 inch S&W 500 ,so you can See the muzzle flash fire ball in broad daylight.
this man was born shooting and practice why he sleep. i think we can all say we like to be able to shoot as well as jerry
Jerry , I have a question .. Do you have a semi auto pistol that gives you a problem of out running it ???

Guys, are you supposed to put the brightness up or down. Usually I only have difficulty with the sound.
at this point Jerry would roll a hi point. its not the tool. its the wielder

Sorry to see that they don't sell bug dope in Louisiana????? Although, the little jokers seemed to slow down a bunch after a bit of muzzle blast.
