Its not postironic, its hyperironic beause its hyperpop, but also postironic=postmodernist so hyperironic=hypermodernist which is a thing, in fact it is an art movement/style. I am too dumb/neurotypical to understand what it means from the Wikipedia page, but it kind of sounds like hyperpop/ 100 gecs could fit into it
My friends and I listened to 10,000 gecs full volume in the car the day it came out and none of us have regained our hearing since Billy Knows Jamie came on
The best way to describe 100 gecs is its a culmination of all the different songs that kids would play off of their iphone speakers in middleschool on the bus. Growing up in gen z, you were constantly exposed to really shitty pop-rock and alt rock on the radio. Then take the dubstep and LMFAO era of teh 2010s and mash em together. The romanticized nostalgia of that is the essence of 100 gecs and what makes everyone feel like a hyper kid listening to it. Some of the most whole some music out there.
My first impression of 100gecs was Crystal Castles and Sleigh Bells on crack, I think theyre more similar to them in the core than Hyperpop or PC music
I adore that they’re such Internet goons. To draw from RUclips poops, memes, and all the other weird stuff they draw inspiration from is just great to see. Nice to know that fringe Internet kids can make in this world.
