I couldn't get into this band at first because the most Gecs I'd ever seen in one place is like 5 MAYBE 6, definitely no more than 8. So it felt like ridiculous to say there'd ever be 100 together. But after listening to this on vinyl, I realized it's not about the amount of Gecs, but the overall quality of each Gec. And these two have the stuff.
I was born in the 910's in Byzantium and this song was one of my favorites! Hearing it again really brings me back to my days in the hamlet listening to the dulcet tones of the organistrum, a large instrument with a guitar-shaped body and a long neck in which the keys were set (covering one diatonic octave). The organistrum had a single melody string and two drone strings, which ran over a common bridge, and a relatively small wheel. Due to its size, the organistrum was played by two people, one of whom turned the crank while the other pulled the keys upward. Pulling keys upward is cumbersome, so only slow tunes could be played on the organistrum. Thank you 100 gecs for making my childhood rock!

I was born in a small village in Uzbekistan and when I first heard this song in 2004 it was a pivotal moment in my life. As soon as I put the cd into my walkman and felt the pulsating yoinks and boops through my headphones, i knew my life would never be the same. I was inspired to start a musical group with my fellow comrades. After much deliberation, we agreed on the name 100 Villagers. My friend Azamat was the only one in the village who had a computer, so we went to his house and downloaded FL studio and youtube to mp3 software. We began sampling every single skrillex yoink and wub we could find. I started saving up money from working at the vegetable stand and after 3 years we had enough to purchase Antares Autotune. This was obviously a game changer. We spent countless nights in the studio grinding and trying to make the dankest beats. There were many ups and downs over the years. Sometimes we would reach a state of total burnout, questioning if it was even worth it. "Will we ever reach success? Am I wasting my time?", i would frequently ask myself. But during those turbulent times of despair when I felt all hope was lost, i would look up at my framed portrait of DJ khaled above my bed and remembered that "we really are da best" and "i should make another one". This really gave me the hope and inspiration to continue on the path of greatness we were destined for. Now years later, after touring all around rural Uzbekistan, playing sold out shows and getting to play our music for at least 67 people, I can truly say it was all worth it. And all thanks to this song. Thank you 1000 geckos.

Lyrics: The Jensen's measure, or Jensen's alpha, is a risk-adjusted performance measure that represents the average return on a portfolio or investment, above or below that predicted by the capital asset pricing model (CAPM), given the portfolio's or investment's beta and the average market return. This metric is also commonly referred to as simply alpha. Assuming the CAPM is correct, Jensen's alpha is calculated using the following four variables: Using these variables, the formula for Jensen's alpha is: Alpha = R(i) - (R(f) + B x (R(m) - R(f))) where: R(i) = the realized return of the portfolio or investment R(m) = the realized return of the appropriate market index R(f) = the risk-free rate of return for the time period B = the beta of the portfolio of investment with respect to the chosen market index
I’m not even a fan of a lot of this band’s music, but this is straight up one of the dopest songs I’ve ever heard. It hasn’t gotten old yet, it hits every single time. Can you show me how to? POW 💥
it was 1980 and me and my wife were in the tavern while the lights went out...invaders...they finally found us. just as the first henchman broke in, the band started playing this song...as the song was starting, i was incumbured with primordial powers that cant even put into words here. large flahses of lights...holograms hitting the griddy...hallicuinating large trees...everything i heard was format shifted or distorted, "emojis on my grave" i thought during my last moments, but my wife comes in and saves us while saying "damn, they thought i was the dumbest girl alive". fast forward to 2023 and me and my wife are now on a farm living happily ever after. thank you 100 gecs!
People don't understand what they're really hearing. 100 gecs is secretly musically genius. The way they employ a variation of 4 common chords is in line with modern musical convention. Their use of upper extensions and haunting tones combined with abundant vocal processing replicates the best artists of today. Clipping and compression only serve to maximize musical effect. Their melodies subvert expectation and their use of dynamic range is magnificent. The storytelling and lyrical content manifest as robust explorations of the yet undiscovered gecs. I thought my ears had heard a treat with the first 100 gecs but they've really brought something special with 10,000 gecs. Now to convince the masses that what I tell them they're hearing is good even when it hurts their ears. This is why 100 gecs elicit in the listener profound feelings and experiences of not needing the government.
im 95 yers old and I really thank you for making music that reminds me of my wild youth! you have really brought me a tear for my eyes. Kindness can be felt in music where found in abundance :)
This reminds me of a tune my wife and I used to hum together back in the mid 90s, in a past life. Before we even met, we were connected by the chord of music running deeply in the human subconscious. Since reincarnating, meeting, and getting married, we often reminesce about those days while enjoying a nice dry rosé. Thanks Laura and Dylan for drawing on that chord once more, bringing us back to a moment before our very inception.
You two have way too much fun, and I am loving it honestly the songs help me get through life, even helps me with my ADHD sometimes your songs is what keeps me motivated. In a strange way that is.

Most probably a thin transparent cloth with Laura’s recording and the animations projected on top of it. Im almost sure it’s all practical (apart from some brief very clear distortions and takes over other takes with different blend settings or maybe brief uses of chroma keying here and there). But yes, it’s a fantastic music video, the effect looks wonderful and the way it’s all edited is great.

I am 16 years old and i dont like modern music! I just love my 70s rock! Thank you for this classic 100 gecs wish you a nice year for saving rock!
Cattle Decapitation released a new album this year. Rock is alive and well.
Wtf are you talking about
Therapist: W I D E Laura isn't real, she can't hurt you
Me: 0:05
I admit I was sceptical but I think it was a good idea for laura to transfer her consciousness to the internet! the hologram looks very lifelike!
this is unironically the best intro track this year
yes
Yum, the black seminole, donkey show, polaris, this is why >>>
Laura being a Hologram is truly the New future of Gec!
Where can I get me a Hologram of Laura ? I’ll pay anything for a Hologram of Laura Les. 🦎🦎
And Dylan! 🦎🦎
Laura doing random shit and Dylan just sitting there like some ancient forest entity is peak 100gecs energy
Can't keep count of all these gecs! Please take my dyscalculia into account and call your next album something along the lines of: "abundant gecs" or "plenty of gecs to go around". "Gecs for everyone!"
0:35 is that the fucking smile dog creepypasta
besides that, loving the star wars palpatine hologram type video
This was THE anthem for Post-WWII America. Your gram gram and pop pop did the horizontal lindy hop to this.
I love that Dylan's just a prop in this video
Soo good i have heard it 10 times since now

Real talk, yesterday morning I went on a drive in the rain and put this on for the first time. Within moments the song was speaking to my soul. I was headbanging on the verge of tears as I drove through my neighborhood. It was the most dangerous and free I've felt in a while. Thank you gecs.
I wish people still made music like this. I was born in the wrong generation.
What are you talking about you're living it right now.
@@Vivalzzy unfortunately nobody makes music like this nowadays...
I miss when REAL artists were around like 100 Gecs... Now all we have are these little kids listening to EDM and DUBSTEP 🙄
@@leshadiabet nobody is 100 gecs

Lyrics:
The Jensen's measure, or Jensen's alpha, is a risk-adjusted performance measure that represents the average return on a portfolio or investment, above or below that predicted by the capital asset pricing model (CAPM), given the portfolio's or investment's beta and the average market return. This metric is also commonly referred to as simply alpha.
Assuming the CAPM is correct, Jensen's alpha is calculated using the following four variables:
Using these variables, the formula for Jensen's alpha is:
Alpha = R(i) - (R(f) + B x (R(m) - R(f)))
where:
R(i) = the realized return of the portfolio or investment
R(m) = the realized return of the appropriate market index
R(f) = the risk-free rate of return for the time period
B = the beta of the portfolio of investment with respect to the chosen market index
1:58 this is why Laura got her tooth removed
最高にかっこいい😢
Also props to Dylan for finally taking off the chinstrap baldcap, let that glorious wizard beard flow
lmao the sicko mode type 808 goes so hard
they've once again made an album that you either absolutely love or despise down to your very core.
I remember the first time i heard this song... its was at my High School PROM... this was back in 1989... remember to stay YOUNG, kids...
YOOOO THIS SONG GOES SO HARD
i love how dylan’s just chilling while laura is going ham
This is why 100 gecs elicit in the listener profound feelings and experiences of not needing the government.
interesting analysis, I think I agree ...

Straight up sampled Skrillex's signature noises and mixed it with a variation of one of the most popular guitar rifts
@@FinnnAndJake I think it's more SICKO MODE than Skrillex.
I got the chance to mix this at my grandmothers funeral. Thank you 100 gecs for inventing turntables.
Anyone else hearing Last Resort by Papa Roach on that guitar riff?
Holy shit!!!! So sad I had to miss you guys in Melbourne due to my chronic pain. Seeing this makes me feel better though! Love you guys

Thanks Laura and Dylan for drawing on that chord once more, bringing us back to a moment before our very inception.
sicko mode 808 goes even harder here
You two have way too much fun, and I am loving it honestly the songs help me get through life, even helps me with my ADHD sometimes your songs is what keeps me motivated.
In a strange way that is.
laura continuing to show her range, love watching her grow
Посмотрел,встал из-за стола,подошёл к окну, закурил... Много думал... Плакал...

she's been showing up with bruises on her thighs hasn't she?
Such a classic, I’m glad my mom played this song for me when I was a kid so I could grow up with it
Couple of the gecs were my first friend's on MySpace. I'm so proud to see what they have become and how many more of them there are!
😂
Who shot this video?? i'd be delighted to have the chance to pick the brains of whoever the director or DP was. I can't tell if this was practically shot or not. please at least 1 of you gecs let me know how this was shot, it looks beautiful!
Most probably a thin transparent cloth with Laura’s recording and the animations projected on top of it. Im almost sure it’s all practical (apart from some brief very clear distortions and takes over other takes with different blend settings or maybe brief uses of chroma keying here and there).
But yes, it’s a fantastic music video, the effect looks wonderful and the way it’s all edited is great.
saw these guys in '92 at the denver airport, me and my buddies had a blast until they had to cancel the show because the music was so fire me and my buddies started a chemical fire. rock on 🤘
they just don't make music like this nowadays, all you hear on the radio is (c)rap music. thank you Mr. and Mrs. Gecs for keeping real music alive
