Adabi is a malay owned company, Babas is an indian-malaysian owned company, Yeos in a chinese-malaysian owned company... All of them produce delicious foods stuf like spices, drinks, souces and also instant dried noodle, just like maggi... This is the beutiful of Malaysia and we malaysian are so proud for both of you Jimmy and iChang, you help to promote Malaysia to other people... 👍😁
you guys probably confuse about this "oden" because most mas people think oden=steamboat, where oden usually must put radish, konnyaku, chikuwabu etc. While In malaysia "steamboat", or other countries called "Hotpot", method more simple, just prepare the soup broth (any flavour like tom yum, curry, herbal, chicken, mushroom, milk), then bring all the ingredients you want and throw inside, just wait it cook and eat, when finish and you want more, re-fill soup broth and repeat till you full.😁
Kasihan ichang terbatuk2 mkn tomyam oden versi malaysia.. Jimmy as usual.. Semua sedapppp je.. Hehe.. Tq guys for being Truly Malaysian.. We love both of u.. 😍😍😍😃👍
The left over soup. Throw some white garlic, lemon grass, mushroom, carrot, union and chicken.. now you have another tomyam dishes u can eat with rice 😊😊😆
I can see the disappointment in Jimmy's face when he does not have the permission to put Maggi in it knowing that how much he loves to eat all the time lol 😂
This is Adabi Brand, they have a lot of product such as nasi goreng paste & powder, bihun & mee goreng paste, soup bunjut, chilli sauce etc. Legend brand in Malaysia
Around the time oden got popular in Malaysia (when FamilyMart introduced it), I was kinda skeptical bcs clearly it's neither like the Japanese oden or the Korean fish cake soup but when I finally tried the Malaysian oden for the first time, I got why it's such a buzz. I think that kick of spiciness and flavour burst of Tomyam oden suit most of the Malaysians palate best.
Add noodles inside & it will become tom yum noodle.. To enhance the taste, u can put lemon grass, chilies, cilantro/coriander, some like to add vegetable like carrot, cabbage, mushroom, cauliflower, broccoli, tomato etc.. It will be a complete fullfilling dish.. 😊
Jimmy is not wrong, I've tried the oden paste with fresh yellow noodle and it basically almost instant noodle but healthier I think. Calories wise. It's not as cheap as instant noodle but an alternative if somehow you feel bored with instant.
During my younger day (but I am not that old), we called this type of dish as STEAMBOAT. They serve usually with two type of soups, tomyam, or chicken soup. After awhile, they rebrand it as SHABU SHABU (I know it is Japanese name too). With the same ingredients, with the same soups. And recently, they called it ODEN. As you see, tomyam flavour is a favourite kind of soup for these kind of dishes. For the technical detail, we can't say that shabu shabu maybe or may not as same as oden for Japanese perspective, we don't know. Everything is steamboat for me.
Adabi is a well known brand in Malaysia and Singapore. They have different kind of paste for fried rice and everything they also have instant ikan bilis, prawn fritters. If they sell it in Hongkong.. Pls try!
Originally plan to make beef udon, but switch to tomyam oden after watching this. I still have some leftover oden that i buy at family mart and add in some family mart paste in my leftover oden. My comfort food in this cold weather 🥶🥶😋😋
"They can forget me, for all I care. My soul will live on!!. Build strength while you can, for I am a story to accompany your drinks. I AM ODEN, AND I WAS BORN TO BOIL" BY KOZUKI ODEN 🍢
You can even add hard boiled egg, or quil eggs yummy! Oh and veges like okra, eggplant, Bokchoi, cabbage, radish and also all sort of mushrooms. That's my kind of oden 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Surprised adabi has gotten so adventurous these days. I do know the company well. After working with them for close to 20 years . But do know it's founder is always up for any challenge any time.
Yes ! It will go well with maggie. When the soup became more thick, you guys should add maggie, only the maggie noodle okay. We already did it at our hostel huhu. >3
In Malaysia, we have other similar dish like Oden but it is serve with thicker sauce. It is called Yong Tau Fu. The ingredient is almost the same as oden, all the ingredient that you use but added long kuew tiow, kangkong vegetable and more type fish cake. You should try to search for it.
LOL...I just ate this Adabi Tom Yam Oden for 2 days in a row 😅😅... now I want to try the Adabi Kimchi Oden flavour... Better eat with white rice or add noodles to the hot soup 😋😋... The left over soup can be reheat and more fish cakes or whatever you like 😍😍
The so called Oden is similar to what Malaysians call Steamboat. You can put any type of ingredients including veg, corn, etc. The left over broth you can add maggi noodles, seafood, eggs and veg so you will end up having tom yam noodles instead. And nothing is wasted. Or you can put all the above ingredients in the broth but without the noodles and eat the soup with white rice.
you should try the kimchi flavor.. taste even better, at least for me😬 i always have this paste at home in case we want easy and instant midnight snack 👍👍
Malaysian Family Mart do have the normal Oden broth but it's been overshadowed by the tomyam broth that not many people are aware about the normal Oden. But like Jimmy said, the normal Oden broth is boring haha
Actually, I think it 's pretty much the same of what you will find in FamilyMart.... Spicy , sour hot soup in a cold weather... I can realte to the feeling .... I tried eating Steamboat outside the cold night in Cameron Highlands..... Aweseome feeling !!!... NICE!!!! anyway, stay safe and take care.... Oiisshiii!!
I use a lot of adabi product in my cooking but never know about this tom yam flavoured oden. Since you introduced it and looked very satisfying, I'm going to look for it tomorrow. 😄😋
The Family Mart in my area used to sell both the "Original" (Japanese?) oden and Tom Yam oden, but only Tom Yam oden now. :( Once, I asked to mix the Original and Tom Yam and it was nice. I would add daikon if available and add udon to it too, which absorbs the umami. To neutralise or reduce the spicyness and sourness, I add some sugar.
Tomyam oden reminds me of lok lok where you find randomly in streets in Malaysia (lok lok truck) where it also have many different soup stocks like tomyam. Lok lok was popular back then so I didn’t think much when they made Familymart tomyam oden but it looked yummy either way XD 🧡
Adabi is also one of the most famous brand in Msia. I think all the instant stuff like paste or cubes that are made in Msia are the best! My favourite is definitely some instant noodles with fishcakes and meatballs in this soup! 😋
In Malaysia, ppl queue for Oden at family mart with Tomyam flavour!!! We tried and compared with the Oden in Tokyo, i would say Tomyam Oden is still my best fav!!! Sorry iChang and Jimmy!!! But you guys are still awesome laaaaaaa..
Family Mart that started the spicy Oden trend...it is a favorite with the customers...then people experimented with Adabi Asam Pedas paste mixed with Adabi Tomyam paste...and now Adabi has the Tomyam Oden paste...yeah!!! if you add Maggi to it...it really is very sedap!!!...tell you....
I guess Family Mart is the first to introduce oden to the Malaysian people. People like it so much, so they start to copycat it. Some do well, others actually looks more like some sticks of fish balls in tom yam soup and people still call it oden. BTW, *bersih dan asli* literally means *clean and original.* And for whatever reason, I looked *real oden* on RUclips and the first video that appears on my screen is a shotgun review. 😂
We like to eat "oden" (some call it steamboat, others call it hotpot) with different types soup base during rainy season when it's cold. We add vegetables and noodles too

Oden in Malaysia become popular because of the Family Mart Tom Yam Oden
It's funny how even Thailand (owner of tomyam) and Japan (the owner of Family Mart) didn't have tomyam oden 😂😂😂😂
@@melakee5321 I can’t stop laughing reading your comment 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Adabi got inspired by Family Mart, plus Malaysian loves savory spicy with a hint of sourness. Kind of asam pedas twist.

From my search from google kangkong is water spinach. In japanese it is called 空心菜。
i cant wait next video ,i like your video about malaysia food,👍
I like it.. 3 countries in 1 dish.. the absolute reason why we call it Malaysia boleh hehehe
Malaysian usually put water in the oden plastic, then shake it, 100% complete use of oden soup.

I don't know why we wanna call it oden. It's not even close to the real flavor. We should've retain it as steamboat
I think the one on skewer is normally korean fishcake, not tofu. But this is nice 😍
I like oden very very much. I hope you will show us japanese dishes as I am very curious.

This looks like shabu-shabu Malaysian style.
Keep the kuah(soup) and put in maggi . Sedap

In Malaysia we call it steam bot, the broth we can choose oden tom yam soup or regular soup, dip all the ingredients together in the broth
