The cleaning of the ackee isn't what makes it poisonous. If it doesn't open properly on the tree before being picked, that is what could cause it to be poisonous.
@evrytingkriss I was always told to remove it and any tiny seed because it could poison. Cleaning the ackee properly was a big thing in my family. However the most importantly thing was to make sure the pod open before. Also to check not to buy any force open ones. Sometimes I see some red part left behind but I ignore and me still alive 😆.

Yea, if she didn’t soak and boil her codfish right, then she didn’t need to add any salt to the dish, including when cooking the ground provisions. The salt remaining in the salt fish would be enough. 🇺🇸🇯🇲
Personally, I feel like black pepper is the key to bringing out the full flavour profile of ackee. I love ackee so much. I’m grateful for its existence ❤❤❤
Add loads of fresh garlic and pepper when boiling the ackee and salt to the ackee water and you will explode with flavors. Add black pepper when cooking it up. Then you got yourself a winner 🎉

Please soak or washed off the preseved salt off of the salt fish and then boiled it. Best to boiled the ackee in the same codfish water to get the flavour added to the ackee, made it much sweeter & nice to the taste buds after adding the fresh seasonings and spices, don't forget the habanero or scotch bonnett pepper, even the ghost pepper if you love it caliente. Eeh sah. Tekk you time. No joke.
