    kind of bummed.....started reselling but it looks like my first batch of eight tix will go for a loss, even though they were very good seats. i am counting on my adele tix to cover my losses. i have been emailing ticketmaster and they said once the show is back on, i can exchange for better seats. have you ever done this? i don't want to ask them "can i still resell them". do you know if i will still be able to resell tix if i exchange them for better seats? thank you so much.

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад

      Can’t win them all unfortunately 😭 for upgrading tickets, you need to find seats you want to exchange into, contact Ticketmaster, and then they’ll approve the transaction. Normally there are requirements around doing so though (new tickets need to be at or above the current cost you paid, tickets need to be available, and they need to get approved before finalizing)

    Hi, I have a question. I bought two tickets for a concert through another person's account and that person transferred my tickets to me. I already have my tickets in my account, but I want to sell them because I will not be able to attend, but I do not have the option to sell the tickets, how can I do it? I only get the option to transfer the tickets. the concert is in December and I can't request a refund due to ticketmaster's policies, what can I do?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад

      So the simple solution would be to sell your tickets on a different platform (example such as Stubhub) and list them as mobile transfer tickets. When they finally sell, you will simply need to initiate a ticket transfer to the buyers email address to complete the sale

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +1

      Yes! Verified resale tickets on Ticketmaster are all 100% backed by Ticketmaster since they are the official box office of the event. That means your tickets will be given new barcodes when you purchase them so only you can use that ticket. I would recommend trying to buy tickets for day 2 first but otherwise go ahead and purchase resale tickets directly off Ticketmaster

      Depends what your best case experience you’re looking for is. Front row VIP seats will cost 1k+ easily each so are you just trying to get to see her close? Or do you want to be close enough to see her sweat? LOL. Price range for the event is $83-$556+ so at 556 you can potentially find floor orchestra seating, or for a VIP experience the price would likely double up. This is extremely difficult for me because of the new tax thing. I dont know how to file taxes and my last resort would be telling my dad because I know he would be extremely upset. If worse comes to worse I would just not be getting any money because I am scared to get the money and screw up my taxes with the 1099k. • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  Год назад

      First off, there’s nothing wrong with having sold the tickets on Stubhub. I would NOT recommend cancelling the order as your penalty will be extremely high and much worse off than had you simply fulfilled the sale.
      In your case, if you do have a SSN, by law you would be required to add it in since all sales need to be reported when they are over $600. You may need to have a discussion with your parents to basically own up to the fact you sold the tickets unfortunately.
      The tax side of things is not as complicated as you may think it is, and I’m sure your family would be able to help out or they can find an accountant who can do it for you.
      Worst case here is getting the order cancelled because then you would owe an extremely large penalty which would be much worse than the alternative of delivering the ticket order and having a small amount of work to do come tax filing season. Let me know if I can help at all further

      It ranges, as you could purchase and/or sell tickets either 1 day to 1 year in advance depending on when tickets go on sale and what you expect ticket prices to do. I would say in general tickets are resold early on since that is when a lot of buyers are willing to pay top dollar for an event, though there are plenty where prices will rise over time so it’s better to hold on before selling them

      Ahh yikes!! Yeah there’s no direct phone numbers anymore which is really frustrating, so you almost need to rely on the contact us button at the bottom right on the ticket page when you open it from your desktop.
      To be able to sell an experience ticket like that, it depends on how the tickets are being delivered to you. Will the ticket be will-call pickup, mobile delivery, hard stock? For will-call, the only way to get those sold easily would be if you are able to change the name on pickup for the tickets (try to contact the venue to see if they are willing to do it instead of trying through TM).

      Well if you are limiting yourself to only reselling the ticket through the same platform you purchased it, that can lead to problems. There’s no guaranteed way to know if an event will or won’t enable resale until after the general sale takes place usually. As long as the tickets are transferable though, you can always look to list tickets on a different platform such as Stubhub or tickpick as an example

      I have not done taxes for selling tickets, but I imagine it's just like any other home business. You can write off a lot of your office costs and home expenses on the Schedule C. You will pay taxes on the net profit or not pay taxes if it is a net loss.

      To verify the bank account, did you receive two small deposits from Ticketmaster 3-5 days after entering your bank account info? It should be two deposits that came from Ticketmaster into your bank, generally between 0.01 and $1. Those are the amounts to use to verify yourself. If you are having an issue then I would recommend deleting your bank account info and typing it in again and waiting for the deposits to arrive

I didn’t realise while buying them that I can’t print them or pdf them (or can I?) anyways, I have sold two, but the website I used to sell them, requires a pdf, as they wont release the buyers details. Can you help? Great content btw.

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +1

      Mobile tickets essentially require you to transfer them via Ticketmaster directly to the end users email address. If the marketplace requires PDF tickets, your only workaround would be to screenshot your seats but even then you have two risks. First being the barcodes are rotating so screenshots are not eligible, or the buyer complains that they are receiving an incorrect format. You should reach out to the ticket exchange support centre and ask if they can update the delivery method to mobile transfer. With that, you’ll be able to fulfill and complete the sale

    Wow you had an awesome year for sure I think the move to GTA really helps. Here is the states many guys really struggled this past year. Summer concerts were just ok the best show of the summer was the dead and company in Saratoga. Baseball in Buffalo was very good also for the yankee series.The Bills opener was a monster then with 4 home games after December 5 many guys lost money on the season and yes there is the Sabres.College football was even down compared to previous years. Big time golf events turned out pretty good but overall the move to mobile tickets has really affected guys bottom line. Long gone are the days of the 70s and 80s before stubhub and craigslist to bring out a nice day without much of an effort. The game has changed and it is never going back but with some street sense a guy can still scratch out a payday every now and then.

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +1

      It worked out a lot better than I had ever anticipated, super grateful. GTA has been treating me nicely so far, though we just got hit with so many cancelled and non-ticketed games now so the next couple of months are going to be rough.
      I would love to learn the golf circuit a little more, it sounds like a great time tbh. Mobile ticketing has been rough across the board on everything, definitely hurts the ability to flip tickets fast. And fees are a killer on online resale, if there was a good alternative away from it I’d be all over it too.
      Dead and Co is one I try to follow every year but there’s definitely nuances that I don’t keep up with, sounds like you know your markets well!

      You can’t buy in bulk as like you said, there are limits in place per account. With that said, if you are able to work with several people at one time to all purchase tickets for the same shows at the same time, then you have a way of adding several tickets at once to an event

    I bought f1 tickets off ticket master they say will call on the tickets. Can I sell the tickets? How?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +1

      When you purchase them, was will-call the only delivery method? Double check the tickets in your account and see if there is an option to change the delivery method to mobile or hard stock, or see if they are able to be transferred out. If the answer to the above is no, then you would only be able to sell the tickets if you can list on an exchange that allows for a will-call or local delivery. You can also contact the venue to see if they will allow you to change the name on the order for pickup. If yes, then you could find a buyer privately or use an exchange that allows will-call delivery (such as TickPick) and then list the tickets that way, and update the name for pickup once you have a buyer

    I have noticed that a lot of teams require you to attend a certain number of games or you could lose the season tickets. They mention that you will lose your season tickets if they figure out your a ticket broker. How do you get around these issues? Also, if you are from a different part of the country, it sounds like teams will consider you a ticket broker and may cancel your tickets. Have you ever had these issues and how did you address them?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +3

      Many teams have regional restrictions to prevent those attempting to resell tickets. As a result, your best measure is to be able to use a local address if available to you. There are other means of doing this as well but just requires a little bit of research 👀 as for having tickets and then potentially being identified as a broker, you should maintain a strong relationship with your account manager and do not sell your tickets through the official resale marketplace of the team to prevent yourself from being tracked

      Normally it’s something that is done relatively soon after the tickets go on general sale. You can always contact Ticketmaster but they will come back with a generic response saying ticket resale is determined by the artist or promoter and varies from each event. Normally if resale isn’t turned on within 2 weeks of general sale, then it’s normally unlikely they will activate it

    Cool video! Can you explain why the number of tickets bought one month greatly exceeds the number of tickets sold the next month? For example, in November you say you bought 2200 tickets, but in December you only sold 538 tickets. Is this because a lot of the tickets you bought in November were for several months out or are there a lot of tickets you bought that you were unable to sell? How often do you run into the latter situation? Thanks again for the video!

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +3

      Exactly! Some months I’ll purchase concert tickets for events that are 6-9 months in advance, but they won’t sell immediately the next month - they’ll basically be sitting in inventory until they do sell. This both increases my overall inventory count but also hurts my cash flow. If you keep buying more than you’re selling month after month, eventually you’ll run out of cash 😂 which can and has happened to me before. Whoops…

    • @thumbsuprun

      Good question! It depends both on the artist themselves and the cities they are performing in. Using data from Spotify listens for different cities, along with population and where the artist is originally from all tie into that decision. The venue they are performing in and seating capacity size and ticket price are also factors I take into consideration when deciding on which locations I want to purchase in. In general you could say LA, NY, Chicago all will do well, but it’s not the whole story. The more data you have and can parse, the better

      For postponed events, you’re correct that there will be some ticket holders who will request a refund and those seats will come available. However, they may release them as verified fan tickets to allow new ticket buyers to purchase them (though no guarantee). Should new seats come up though, you would certainly be able to try and upgrade your seats to move closer. Technically all sales need to be taxed by the govt so suggesting anything else would be the equivalent of tax avoidance 😅 and then if you sell a ticket well below market value then you may actually be losing out more by trying to avoid the tax vs just selling at market and paying tax on it in the first place

Do you think this can work out for me and how long do you think I’ll be waiting on the list? Is it even worth it?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +1

      Great to hear!! Absolutely that sounds like a good plan, just keep in mind prices are quite high face value so the margins keep getting tighter each year. With that said, the wait list is long and you should expect to wait at least 5 years or more before making your way through.
      Your better option will likely be trying to jump on the wait list and get access to half season seat packages. They should continue to offer them for next year to wait list members (non renewable packages) so that should give you a taste of what it’s all about and see how the pricing works/if it makes sense for you. If you do become a raptors SSH let me know, as I am one as well 😁

      It really depends on your price point you lock into and if you have the ability to create your own client list and sell tickets locally. You lose out on big margins by selling online (10-15%) so just need to keep that in mind

      @@thumbsuprun it says I have to pick the area I want to sit in when I am able to purchase the tickets. I want to be in the lower bowl should I choose lower bowl sides or lower bowl ends ones aprx $3300 and the other is aprx $7000.

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад

      If for personal, that’s entirely up to you. If for resale, it’s hard to justify a 7k/seat cost but there’s definitely people willing to pay it so really comes down to your risk tolerance.

    I have a question. So I went into my account on Ticketmaster waited in the queue and stuff to buy tickets for stray kids Maniac world tour and they were sold out or bought by scalpers when I went to buy some so I went to vivid seats on my dads account and my stepmom ended up getting two tickets for $434 but people are saying I’m supposed to transfer them to Ticketmaster so that I can actually go to the concert. I’m really confused if I do have to transfer them how do I do so?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +1

      The tickets you bought on vivid seats - were they mobile tickets (ie did they transfer the tickets to you via the Ticketmaster app) or are they mobile screenshot tickets (just a QR code that you can view on the vivid seats app)? If they are simply mobile screenshots then you can just show those at the gate when you arrive for the show - you won’t be able to transfer those to Ticketmaster as they are simply images

    • @Orcahoon

      If they were mobile tickets, then it’s possible the seller didn’t transfer the tickets yet. If they did, there would be an email from Ticketmaster for them to accept the tickets directly into Ticketmaster

      A great problem to have! Unfortunately I’ve been running into the same issues. Quick books is fine for the most part but it obviously won’t be useful as an inventory management side. But in terms of running reports and just tracking your basic total costs and sales, it should get the job done

      I am sorry that you feel this way. I agree that ticket brokers certainly reduce the ability for others with less means to be able to purchase tickets to their favourite events. Therefore my channel exists to help teach both individual fans as well as those looking to profit on how to obtain these tickets at face value. I would highly encourage everyone to better educate themselves in the art of purchasing tickets. This is not a secret, all of the information for buying tickets is accessible publicly. Should you have any other questions or comments, please reach out to me and we can have a chat 😁🎟

      Queues are generally all luck based - sometimes you get in early and other times you don’t, so the more chances you have with friends and family all trying to get through the better the odds things could work out in your favour. Learning how they work also helps as well.
      The main difference with a broker is that they’ll spend a lot more time looking to optimize their workflow vs a standard event goer who buys tickets maybe a couple of times a year. Arming yourself with as much knowledge and experience as you can enables everyone the ability to get on an even footing. Best of luck with your next ticket purchase, feel free to reach out with any questions you may have

    Thank you so much for the videos! Learned so much from you. I was hoping if I could get your advice in my situation. So I bought two extra member presale tickets for the BTS concert in Vegas to resell. However, the transfer and the resell option in ticket master are both greyed out.
    I know that in Stubhub, an option to resell is through mobile transfer (and this the deliver option of what the resellers are currently doing). My concern is though I'm not quite too sure if my tickets would even be transferable in the first place. Have you or know anyone who has come across this type of situation? If so, what is the work around here? I really dont want to get stuck with 2 extra unsold tickets 😞

    • @thumbsuprun

      No issues with reselling these tickets as mobile transfer - Ticketmaster has already stated that the transfer button will be enabled as of March 4 (today!) so just give it a few more hours and then it should open up transfers. Once it’s open, you’re free to list and sell the tickets as mobile transfer. If Ticketmaster also enables resale directly through their platform, then that will be another option for you

      They were due to come in mail. But I though that I could sell them if I switched to mobile. But apparently a can't sell them or transfer them. The buttons are grayed out. I called them and they basically say I'm screwed and because there is a delivery delay that won't be lifted until the 20th. And that she doesn't know if they will be transferabke.And that I can either print them or use the mobile ticket. But I won't even be in Vegas anymore. Can anybody tell me what I can do now that the tickets cannot be mailed. I will be out $1000...I'm scared to list them on StubHub if I can't resell them. Won't I get a penalty if I can't transfer?

      I’m sure it was well over 20%, probably higher tbh without going through it. It’s the big wins that make up for a lot of the loser sales. Season seats you’ll generally have a significant portion sell below cost/not sell at all but you can make up for it with the high value games
