What are your thoughts on the ZWO
SEESTAR ?
@jeffjones2740 i prefer the Dwarf or the 6" Virtuoso. I was contacted by Zwo to review it and i declined.
Well, as I was packing up my Astrophotography rig including my iOptron Mount, Orion Refractor, DSLR eyepiece projection tube, eyepieces, calibration and ZWO tracking camera, Astroberry, Shoestring Astronomy FCUSB, Car Battery, 12v to USBC/USB Power Supply, Camera, Cords, and Laptop I decided maybe the Dwarf II would be ideal for a night like tonight. It's partly cloudy, no guarantee of a clear view of Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF. After reviewing the video of Tiago getting a successful photo of the comet with Dwarf II I figured I'll give the Dwarf II a try. I'll update the channel with my findings.
It's more or less that the spirit behind. Join us on discord to post the picture on the community pictures. I show them during live streams
recently purchased the Dwarf2 & your tips are great! and thanks for the filter adaptor links!! looking forward to more Dwarf2 videos from you.
Congrats!
How did you get the app. I have the dwarf but it’s useless because the app is not available on Apple App Store
You should track their webpage for news because they are releasing iphone version.
I read that you can use it through a weppage interface on IOS.
I just purchased one and am looking forward to getting it and trying it out.. I saw that it is possible to take gigapixel panorama shots. In a future video could show how to do that.
I will for sure 👍
Great video.. Lots of good information for me to use when my Dwarf II arrives..
Thanks and congrats for your new dwarf
Hi wondering if you can help my dwarf2 wont power on any ideas
You should contact them. Dwarflab
Any camera with a digital sensor has the same effect when the sensor get hot. Even with my DSLR when I take a long sequence of night photos with very long exposures will get hot. Dwarf ii uses the same sensor which will give the same issue.
The darks solve that. They were not working, now they are. They fixed it.
Such an Awesome Video Thank You!
Can I ask a question please? Is it worth to buy it or not? Because I’m 14 and love to explore cosmos etc. So buying it for too much cost is fair? This is the first to buy a telescope so.. If not this can u recommend other..
Yes it's worth it you also have this ruclips.net/video/r0YbWyATAsA/видео.html if you want to watch visually but then you need to buy a camera for pictures so the dwarf is a cheaper way to start and take everywhere with you
Thanks Tiago. I think given the very small aperture, you cannot set too high your expectations. Certainly The Horsehead nebula and Thors Helmut are really a bit beyond this scopes intended target range but you were able to see them which is impressive. Since it appears that it tracks to compensate for the rotation of the Earth, how easy is it to set it up? I’m asking because this would be a fun scope to take on trips and speed of set up is important.
super easy to set up Martin
@@DobsonianPower I might order one. This whole thing is no more expensive than a good eyepiece.
Precisely 👍but i will keep posting results and updates, now that it's worth it
Do I need both 49mm-48mm step down ring and 2” to 49mm adaptor when I use 2” optolong L-enhance filter in dwarf 2?
You need the 2 i have at the description
Thank you
If I would order it today, would it be here even before it is officially released? I ask because it is a pre order
I wish i knew. Some receive it already but more people buying. I'm afraid The answer only dwarflab can give
@@DobsonianPower Okay, thank you for your really quick answer :)
To the owner of this, video, how long did you wait for your Dwarf 2 telescope. I ordered mine 1st March. I applied for a refund cos it was taking way too long and an hour later, tracking information added, but the item has not been collected. What gives
Mine? More than 3 months and i was one of the 1st ones.
Hi from Canada.
Thanks for taking time to make these videos.
Greetings to Canada!
Welp, it seems real nice and interesting but the turn off is planets.
What is the problem with doing planets?
I’ve noticed another beginner auto scope that has the same capability and deficiency.
Is it the focal length?
Moon is good, sun is good, deep space is good, but not in between?
Thanks
Yeah. That's the truth to all of these smart telescopes. They can't handle everything and planets are too bright and too small for them.
@@DobsonianPower I know the sun uses a filter, of course….does the moon use a filter too?
@@robertadams2857 no
Why are the images so bright? Can the Dwarf App post process them ?
No it can't. You do it manually if you want. The brightness is the one you choose. This is youtube, i want brightness on videos and images. You can lower it if you want though
Thanks for info.....can you post more footage during daytime or more terrestrial abjects?.....time lapse mode?
For Astronomy you don't want the IR filter on, turn it off. The IR cut filter is for daytime use
exactly what I was thinking
IR cut filter is needed for planetary night photography in case of IR sensitive camera and also for emission nebula.
Incorrect you reduce star bloat with the IR cut
@Tarang Ban no ir only for planets. For astrophotography they modify cameras to take out the ir cut filter. For planets yes, DSO NO
Exactly. And also get rid of that pinkish tint typical on IR bands.
Hi! Wondering if you've tried Barlow lens or focal extender on the Dwarf II (possibly with adapters) to image planets or DSOs...
Yes i tried but it didn't work 😥
A telescope has to gather faint light. This thing being so small, I reckon that it is a novelty more than anything.
Can I attach a laser to the Dwarf 2 and use it like a guide for my push to 14 inches dobsonian?
uff i don't know but i wouldn't do it
Great video. Love the music.
👍👍thanks
Another question. It is a nice remote video camera.....but...can it record sound?
Nope. It's designed to capture far away things which we can't hear.
I wish I could have gotten a Dobsonian, and if life weren't as busy with work and family I probably would have. I just ordered the Dwarf II and am patiently waiting for it to arrive. I'm just happy that I'll be able to stargaze. That it's easier with less effort? I'll stargaze with a beverage. Thank you for your video sir.
Keep patient don't give up
Any thoughts about using it for a total solar eclipse video?
Excellent to capture it.
use dark, to remove hot pixels
The darks solve that. They were not working live stacking, now they are. They fixed it.
Didn't they fix it in the new firmware update?
Nope
So I just bought this telescope today, is it possible to view, Saturn and Jupiter with this telescope?
No smart telescope can give decent images of planets. You can watch a bright bulb and the moons though.
@@DobsonianPower Dang alright, hopefully I can see the Andromeda Galaxy. Thank you!
@noahsgaming9744 you can and it's one of the best objects in the dwarf 2. Orion nebula a good one as well
Thanks!
👍👍
They sent me one to review but having iPhone, I was never able to download the app as it’s for android. I’ve been waiting a few months for them to finish and release but as of right now, it’s a paperweight on my desk lol
I'll take it from you lol.. I downloaded the iOS app this AM
The controls for this telescope are too finicky for me. I'd personally be more into a smart telescope that uses a Windows PC for its "brains". Something fully automated for the best results. Like a home observatory that I can put in the yard, set it up, then leave it to do everything.
I'm enjoying your videos, and I might one (Dwarf II) in the future.
stay tuned ;)
This video is really value content.
Could you do video of planets and then run that through PIPP, AutoStakkert, RegiStax?
I did it already ruclips.net/video/CKKw9fQGJRM/видео.html
@@DobsonianPower really? That video sure doesn't look like you're using the Dwarf II 😋
@@KeithFeickert ah with the dwarf? Forget it. Dwarf and all other mini robot telescopes are not good for planets.
@@DobsonianPower never try, never fail? 🤷
@@KeithFeickert try what? To post process a ball of light?
Thank you.
👍👍
You will never get the best results just from what comes out the camera, you need to process the individual tiff files and stack them, results are far superior
My main purpose is not post processing, but watching live
Can you export the captured video frames from the Dwarf II to your desktop and use ASTAP to stack them ?
Yes, although i don't do it. I just watch it as is
What if... the device identifies the stars and merges the image with a internal recorded HR map of sky...?
The day someone build a device like that we will discover. As we did with Samsung ruclips.net/video/5IC1Pfj9ff0/видео.html
Taking darks gets rid of those hot pixels, you do this with astro dark mode.
Also as this is not a cooled camera gives hot pixels and the only way around if is cooling the sensor, which is why dedicated astro cameras have cooling to go way past 0 degrees
Nope. Before this firmware upgrade the darks were doing nothing live stacking and now they are working while stacking.
Nobody still won't answer if we get raw or jpg files?
Tiff
Ill bye 1 when it comes down in price and fix tracking, star where elongated bad and pollution noise.
The trend will be the opposite in my opinion. Price may rise in the future
Can the Dwarf track a comet?
The tracking feature is for terrestrial as far as i know. Astro mode tracks the sky
Tiago, I created a Dwarf II configuration for Stellarium, I created an entry for Dwarf II wide, Dwarf II Telephoto, and the Sony IMX415 sensor. I wanted to get a sense of what was viewable with Dwarf II.
Can you capture an image of "The Lost Jewel of Orion" with your Dwarf II to see if it matches my expectations ? The Sculptor Galaxy looks like it will be a a great target and "The Witch Head Nebula" may be may be a viable target too !
Maybe in the future. Now i will be 100% with the dobs for the comet

@@DobsonianPower Ah, legal! Parabéns pelos canais. Sucesso!
Thanks for the links to 1 25 to 2" adapters, have an optolong L extreme filter, which blows the uhc filter out of the water, but of course expensive
👍👍
