Tarisland is a brand-new high fantasy tab targeting MMORPG that released globally on June 21st 2024 on both PC and Mobile.
This game features a diverse mix of content for both PVP and PVE players including dungeons with various difficulties, solo boss challenges, world bosses, challenging raids, PVP Battlegrounds, PVP arena, large open maps with collectables, a cutscene rich main questline, a theme park full of mini games and a bunch of cosmetics for players to collect.
At launch the game currently has 9 distinct classes some of which can fill the roles of tank, healer and DPS and the game allows you to freely switch between specialization instantly with absolutely no friction, which is especially nice for encounters with specs more suited to AOE or single target damage.
In this video I’m gonna show off the highlights of me levelling to 40 which is the current max level, forming a guild with subscribers of this channel, gearing up in dungeons, taking on the arena and finally facing the Merfolk King raid boss… A make sure to watch this video until the end where I’ll give you my Tarisland Pros and Cons list, some of which might surprise you.

What is Tarisland?
Tarisland is a cross platform PC / Mobile MMORPG that will release free to play in the west in 2024.
Tarisland features PVE content in the form of solo boss challenges, 5 player dungeons, 10 player raids, professions and quests.
PVP content is 10v10 battelground and 3v3 equalized arena.
Tarisland features 9 playable classes each with their own unique builds, specializations, talents and customization options.
Tarisland classes include the Warrior, Priest, Ranger, Shadow Swordsman, Phantom Necro, Barbarian, Mage, Bard, and Paladin.
Taisland features a large open world, seasonal content costumes, a non p2w business model and map completion involving reputation events, treasure chests and side quests.

Peon claims in this video that he was given the freedom to critique the game, but MMOByte claims that Tarisland devs were trying to bribe him into reviewing the game positively. Do not trust what you hear in this video; form your own opinions.

If you to do paid ads that's fine I get that this is your job, but it bothers me that you do a worth playing video on the SAME game you're getting sponsored by. I used to go to your videos to see your opinion on the game knowing it's 100% honest and just your raw thoughts, but when you're being paid by the game you're reviewing it's hard to believe your opinion isn't influenced differently. I've seen past videos where you are much more harsh on P2W games like this.
I was genuinely a bit confused that Peon didn't mention any pros or cons for the character creator. When classes are gender locked it's usually a big deal (rightly so) and overall the character creator is really basic overall. Lots of other games that have a way better character creator than this.

@@newjerseyjustin "the best" no, you can't get that from buying it with gold/crafting. If you craft the "best" gear you'll only be able to make the gear score equivalent of the top items but you'll be missing the extra stats provided by the set bonuses they have.
So? The game's biggest weakness is a distinct lack of pay to win, it's way too free to play friendly. Hopefully they can fix that with some more pay to win mechanics.
The great thing about Peon if you watched him for a long time is you get to know the voice difference between sponsored and a really fun game. 😂

You do get cosmetics for progressing in the game. As you get armor sets at item level 90, 100, and 110 you get a full set of cosmetics for your class.
I am guessing this sponsorship must have paid pretty well. Even people I didn't expect to take the sponsorship did.

Yeah the dungeons and raids are actually pretty fun, I usually don't raid and do dungeons in MMOs but I have cleared every dungeon and raid so far in this on my phone.
Some people just have the sheep mentality. Actually, It was a pretty decent game! has a god QoL feature and I agree with what Peon says about pros and cons. The important thing is we enjoy playing the game!

The review was very fair and even said he doesn't recommend it for hardcore players.
I was skeptical about the game at first but the gameplay and dungeon experience is challenging and fun. I like their take on resource management instead of mana systems, it has an emphasis on proper rotation to maximize your dps/heals/mitigation. The pay-to-win aspect is pretty light and will likely only impact world first situations. If you are playing casually with friends for fun it is a great experience. So far, I've never felt like there is any grind as a F2P player that I'd want to spend 5$ to save a few hours (or more) of grinding. You get what you need very quickly as a F2P player unlike most other F2P games. Edit: I do play on PC as a Phantom Necro Healer

This game has some of the worst animations and combat I have ever seen on a PC mmo. There are also like 40 basic UI, camera and movement things that are missing from the game

@@infernus6278 The gameplay is GOOD. Honestly I find the animations are fine. The UI does have the red-dot-everywhere-we-need-to-click-syndrome and can be very confusing on where to go for what. The camera controls with the mouse are *slightly* clunky and releases at times when you do not lift your button but has never once interfered with my ability to play in a dungeon setting. But the gameplay experience is GOOD. For me, I'm willing to look past visual aesthetics for a good game. But thats me..

There's no real pay to win in the game. You can buy gold but it doesn't even get you really anything. You must raid to get the good gear.
It's free. Go try it. It's actually really fun. I haven't felt any pressure to pay, which is for cosmetics so who cares. Best gear is from raids. Not a game that is redefining the genre but hella fun.
Raid mechanics are fun, progression feels good, game runs well.
The publisher might stink like old fish, but it's not actually as cool as people think to hate on this game. It just shows they are either biased or haven't actually played the game at level 40.

The PC client might as well be an emulator. Gave it a try, noticed dragging the camera doesn't lock the cursor but only hides it so the camera just gets stuck when the invisible cursor hits a border and even if not you have to find it again. Immediately uninstalled

Something’s I noticed while reading the cons list, you can disable the floating text on the settings, you just gotta disable the bullet text option, yes the arena is open 2 hours per day, but twice, something like during launch and dinner time, the world map can get much better if you click the “pin” button next to the zoom buttons and then check all boxes, so you can see everything on the map all the time, and lastly about the ultimates taking too long to use, it depends on the class you’re playing and how your inscribed stone is build, and btw peon wasn’t playing that ranger subclass correctly, you gotta stay still to increase stability and he was moving all the time and had no stability when using his skills so his dps was way lower than it could have been
The game also actually surprises me that it has a lot of QOL features that Wow players have been asking for years. The only drawback I have with the game is the environment still needs a lot of improvement, you can see rough and rushed texture at the edges of the maps and tons of invisible walls in the dungeon making the experience bad for me. Classes have balancing issues and server sync could be a problem too even though it shows low ping for my region. My character will get hit in aoe even though I move out of the aoe circle. That happened to me a few times in raid.

No visual progression, but you can buy cosmetics. Yeah. Something tells me it'll take them a VERY long time to implement visual progression through gear upgrades.
No, that's not true. You get free skins that actually look good with achievements, e.g. for clearing raid bosses with certain special tactics, challenge modes or for every 10 gearscore points. The GS110 skin looks great for example so yeah - there is visual progression, but you can't look like a clown like you would in the WoW leveling phase.

Yea the current wow transmog system is the best in the genre. Wow has faults but 90% of the coolest gear is in game. And you can mog your leveling sets if you don’t like it, but now you get pretty decent starting ones as a new player

I don’t understand how everyone in the comments can turn so quickly on someone who makes free content for them. This game looks like it’s targeted toward a younger audience and not for sweaty freaks who want to no life a game and then complain that they have run out of content.

because 1) his being disingenuous about the review 2) if you take a sponsor for Tarisland you're forced to say good things about it (Stix/MMobyte was offered the same sponsor but declined and showed the contract) and 3) Lazy Peon has changed....for better or worse for his reviews. as someone who has watched lazy peon since his wow Draenor videos (like over 7 years ago) his demeanor has shifted towards "accepting" garbage payouts for shitty games which in turn has him not being honest with his audiences/himself.

The game is generally enjoyable for me. Bosses have interesting mechanics, challenge modes are actually challenging and require significant coordination. Other than these things the game is extremely casual, leveling is really fast, crafting is simplistic, most daily or achievements are pretty easy to complete and p2w is very minimal, I haven't spent a dime and im consistently on ranked leaderboards and challenge modes with my guild. Gold is the main currency for trading and it's incredibly easy to get by just buying blue tools and selling the raw mats you farm. mmo is a mobile game that they ported over to a pc so they could play as well.
The negatives for me is most things not being account wide, especially things like the battlepass and monthly ticket. The battlepass is a one time purchase around 25$ and the ticket is daily, weekly or monthly, the latter being around 22$. Overall the game is not alt friendly in the slightest, no player to player trading(you can trade guildies through the guild warehouse but its extremely limited in both types of items and quanity allowed, other than that there is only a trade house that is similar to new world), to many currencies as well as lack of unique currencies(badge > ancient badge), 5 character creation limit(9 classes), time gate on crafting and bosses, bosses are rereleased with a harder version(dungeons to universal hall) and passed off as more "content", FOMO is huge because if you miss daily or semi-daily anything related to Arcane Realm, Dark Invasion, youll essentially be slightly but permanently behind, gear progression is simple(90 and 100gs are the same name), gear has little to no visual progression.
There's quite a bit more but these are just the glaring issues to me. All in all I do enjoy this game a lot, I did not expect to have to try in raids or there to even be a leaderboard, it scratches the casual itch for me but at the same time having hard content that while limited isn't totally braindead. I'm Ayame on NA server if anyone is interested in playing.
Without editing, I forgot to add. Gear so far in crafting is actually pointless to make because you can just get almost guatenteed gear from dungeons, raids, arcane realm and badge shop.

@@ayamehachimitsu No. Crafting is important because Random stats. You have to buy or do dungeon (daily reward chances) to get Bis items. Tempering also another way to say craft is a needed
@@Svensky Idk why you are saying no, all stats are random in this game, not just crafting. Crafting being random stats is one of the main reasons it's useless because easy content gives it to you and also ancient medal gear having "guarentees" of you being able to get all through dungeons>raids. Stats aren't even important until you have gotten into 98 gearscore content, by the time you are there, you have plenty of ancient medals and have done raids and arcane realm. Crafting is a waste of gold outside of proficiency gain for things actually useful like gems and bags. I never made any tailoring gear for equipping or tempering because I got extra gear from dungeons, raids and arcane realm. Maybe crafting is worth now if you just want to skip content entirely but all that saves you is time.
this game isnt as bad as everyone is saying. yes, it has pay to win, but name 1 mmo that you can't buy gold in (directly or indirectly). pay to win exists in every mmo

The pay-to-win aspect here is not as bad as say Ragnarok Origin or other similar mobile MMOs. The game is not THAT bad. Gated content is not a bad thing, I am not even sure why there are people who think this is a problem.
Literally this. My biggest complaint so far has been a LACK of pay-to-win, it's way too free to play friendly to be on mobile imo. I have had much more fun in better games like ni no kuni cross worlds, this is just too much of an even playing field to be fun or interesting.

I started this game after the first couple weeks and I'm glad I waited. No timegating at all for me... All the comments saying he shilled out havent played the game. I'm a PC gamer, wouldn't even think of touching a mobile mmo and I, like you was also of the mindset of "My favourite streamer said this and that so I dont want to play it" some of you cant deal with certain things and thats fine, thats your preference but its worth the price tag of free to find out. I went in thinking it would be a quick uninstall and now I'm end game raiding with a guild.

It's a high-budget mobile MMO disguised as a PC MMO, got to level 10 and uninstalled it.
In my opinion as an old WoW Player and FF14 Savage content enjoyer, Im having fun playing this game. I don't see a reason why not to take a "bag" if he was to do a positive review anyway. It would be bad if he had not fun and did a positive.
gotta make the bread somehow... but yes, it looks a bit empty though but very wow like in style mostly. FFXIV has epic raids and hands down better a raiding experience. Whether people say this review is super biased or not, I personally enjoy this game. I've maxed 4 characters and currently working on my 5th while I wait for the next raid to open up. This game is by no means "amazing" but it's also not the worst to ever release either. I'd personally rate Tarisland around a 6/10 with definite room to improve over the coming months. The PvE content can definitely get challenging with the Elite mode Raids (with Epic mode coming soon) and Challenge Mode dungeons as well as the Arcane Realm and Universal Hall respectively. The cash shop is purely cosmetic apart from the battlepass giving you a very small amount of gold every few tiers and the occasional Lucky Coin (which can be used to roll for another piece of gear inside the raid). The game also offers to turn gold into their premium crystals via Crystal Consignment (similar to how Lost Ark did it) where 1 crystal costs 5 gold and you can use those to purchase cosmetics and mounts. I also personally enjoy most of the crafting system in Tarisland. I like the fact that one person can't mass craft an entire set of gear, instead if you picked Forging then you're only able to make Helmets, Armor, and Gauntlets, whereas the Tailors will make the Leather Gauntlets (you need both), Boots, and Pants/Greaves .. Leaving Jewelry crafters to obviously make, well, jewelry. To make higher gear score/quality items you need items from the other professions so that means you'll need some gold to buy them off the marketplace to craft your items. The only downside to the professions, in my opinion, is that you have a resource called Vigor and collecting resources/crafting items costs Vigor and it takes a minimum of 15 minutes to regain 1 point of Vigor. However, with perks, you can get the time down to around 10 minutes per point.
If you really like mobile MMO's this is a great game, if you prefer PC MMO's then there's a plethora of better games.

Tab target and no visual progression are the biggest dealbreakers for me.
There is visual progression. Once you hit level 30 you will start to get named gear, once you hit item level 90 you unlock a full set of cosmetics for your character. Then at level 40 you get gear sets, once you hit level 100 you get another full set of cosmetics for your class. Then again when you get to item level 110 you get another full set of cosmetics.

I tried the beta and could tell right away it was a soulless shell of a mmorpg. Imagine you look at WoW for 10 minutes and jot down a list of what you think makes the game what it is, and then pay some devs to make a game that checks all those boxes. That's about it.

I played a bit but the requirement to log on each day to be held back due to time unlocking killed it for me.
That was actually just the first week. You can max lvl all at once now
you dont't need to log in everyday. You can skip one day for the big daily rewards and have the rewarde as per two days when you complete it. Some things, you have 3 days to complete them. Some things, you have one week.
i gave this game two hours and it bored me to death :( the combat and the quest proggression were really boring. The non-existent gear proggression is actually really bad.
This game could be really good with work on the combat to make it feel more fluid and responsive, the gear proggression is a must on every game! and the questing needs a complete rework.

Game is honestly pretty fun. The 1-40 doesnt take long so you can try out whatever interests you. Each spec has different ways to play it so theres different ways to play each spec to do completely different things. Its a bit clunky but if you arent here to be super serious its good
