There were many perfect lines in the Waltons. One of my favorites was between Mary Ellen and Curt. "That's not much of a proposal." "Well, it's the best one you're going to get from me."
Well, to play devils advocate. Back in those days, many husbands had a mistress or mistresses and multiple affairs, many an open secret. Wives had far less control or power over their life and circumstance financially and as primary caregivers to children, which made leaving a marriage much harder. Many had to turn the other cheek and just deal with it, others believed it was a man's prerogative, and a normal occurs they accepted and still loved their husband's all the same. It was a very different time and world. For better or worse. It is much easier to see those times thru rose colored glasses, which as a species we tend to do.
Judy, you bring joy to my wife and i. In our early 50s but we both enjoy coming home from work to watch a few episodes every weekday. Best series EVER MADE.
I'm glad they let everyone's personality shine through. It seemed like that was the case but when people are acting, you don't want to presume what's entirely acting and what's expanding on one's own nature. Thanks for confirming what I felt.
I think what I love most about the Waltons is the love you all feel towards each other. It's even more special that it has lasted all these years later.
My Italian grandparents were together for 59 until his death in 1963. They were married in 1904 just outside of St. Louis Mo. and went to the St. Louis Worlds Fair of that year, made famous in the movie "Meet Me in St. Louis". Nana was back in St. Louis exactly 70 years later for another wedding-mine. I and my wife Nancy will celebrate our 50th Anniversary in July and we have already passed both our parents in the longevity of our union and hope to pass my grandparents as well.
Really enjoyed this, Judy. Thank you! There were so many weddings. I didn't realize. I'm streaming the series again with my 91-year old father and we saw Yancy's wedding episode the other day. The look on his face when he was at the altar. 😂 As much as I love the relationship between Olivia & John as well as Grandma & Grandpa I still love MaryEllen & Curt's lively relationship the best. I thought it was a good match for the reasons you mentioned in this video, and it was also nice watching Mary Ellen growing up into a more mature woman.
Ike and Corabeth are still my favorite couple. They were complete opposites but they always made things work. Now that I'm older I identify with Grandma and Grandpa. My husband drives me nuts but after almost 40 years we're stuck with each other! Happy Valentine's Day.
Good morning, Judy! Happy Valentines Day! I loved every single wedding on the Waltons. I think one of my favorites would be John Boy and Janet. Her aunt wanting to plan the wedding, making John Boy crazy was at times funny and the in-laws being put in jail. But it always in the end makes you cry when they float off to their honeymoon in the little boat they played with as children. Thank you for all the wonderful wedding stories! 🥰
I love Cordelia and Cody❤️❤️ They were so sweet together, and she was so good for him. Such a lively, vibrant and vivacious woman, so charming!! John Boy did a great job matching them up!!❤️❤️
All beautiful but Paul and Erin's had something special. Did I read that Mary McDonough actually wore her mother's wedding dress? And the emotion conveyed as John walked her down the aisle - could not be denied. Happy Valentine's day!
This was great!! I am a Bridal Seamstress, so I always love seeing the Wedding gowns. I have heard that Mary actually wore her real mother's gown for Erin's wedding. I think that is very special! ❣️
What a lovely segment Judy! I think the courtship and wedding of Curt and Mary Ellen was my favorite. Also the ceremony was on the mountain which was so special too.❤You looked beautiful! I liked Verdie and Mr. Foster and Jodie so I wish we had seen that wedding. Happy Valentine's Day Judy ❤
I remember when John boy got jealous of the reverend and teacher when they liked each other and got married ike and corabeth another great marriage all great marriages in the show
Ah, Mary Ellen and Curt - so many times these two made The Waltons a "Dramedy" "there's nothing wrong with the file system, a moron could figure it out." "Well, a moron must have designed it."
Such beautiful images and memories of love/ friendship shared on Walton Mountain . Happy Valentine's to you and yours too Judy..Thank you for the beautiful presentations.
I always found the episode amusing where Ben spontaneously surprised the family in the middle of the night telling them he married Cindy. What was funny is how he acted surprised that were all surprised and shocked and how he couldn't get that, LOL
What an apt episode. Loved your two weddings ❤ Valentines Day is special as its our daughters birthday and she's 18 this year. The weddings on Waltons Mountain have meant so much, giving us a sense of the commitment and love shown. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This was very special. I, too, had lost track of all the weddings and hints of weddings during the series. It would have been awesome to see Elizabeth get married in another special. Great retrospective. Thanks, Judy. Hope you and your husband have a great Valentine’s Day.
There were so many marriages in the show and then movies. I still remember Ep Bridges romance as well which may have led to marriage. Well I'm off abroad tomorrow with my wife for a week so may comment a bit later than normal Judy but will watch your videos even on holiday😊. Thank you for this segment and best wishes to you Judy from your waltonian superfan in a cooler England😉
Such a wonderful show was the Waltons. It always moved me and inspired me and presented such positive and warm vibes. The deep love that was shared between the family members was a template for the American family to aspire to. Thanks for your part in it Judy.
Very sweet video. My favorite wedding was the renewal of John and Olivia. So sweet. I loved the scene of grandpa and grandma dancing for their 50th anniversary.
Such a delight to see Judy, you are an absolute joy to listen to, you are a perfect narrator. Thank you so much for the beautiful walk down memory lane. What an absolutely wonderful show, my favorite of all time!!❤️
Wow. Well there were so many weddings on the show it is hard to pick out a favorite. I feel that of all the new characters added to the show, Leslie Winston was a favorite of mine. She is so cute and her smile is beautiful. Glad we finally saw John-Boy married.. With the number of times he was dumped, I didn't know if I was watching the Waltons or re-runs of Dobie Gillis. Though I think one of the best shows that spoke beautifully of lasting love was the one when John Boy took his Scottish lady friend to the sea to remember her late husband . While she and John were dancing she imagined that John was him (thanks to Earl Hamner and make up ). That's when you know that the phrase "til death do us part" is meaningless. If it's real, death can't touch it. P.S. I do remember Jim Bob dumping Jennifer Jason Leigh. I still wonder about that boy ! LOL

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY JUDY and how wonderful showing all the weddings even Erin’s made me cry, but all had special moments in their own way. Would love to see new episodes of the Elizabeth and Jim Bob, for the next generation, one can only hope. Anyway wonderful display, your such a delight Judy, thank you for putting the love that was shared on Walton’s Mountain out to us and sending you and all ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks, always, Judy! You’ve made another sweet gift to us. ~And, is Mary McDonough’s sister playing Patsy on the back of the motorcycle (in case that’s accurate, thought this community often enjoys those connections)? I also wondered if any of Earl Hamner’s kids or other relatives were in any of the church scenes during these weddings? Happy Valentine’s Day
Glad you enjoyed this one. No, the Eileen McDonough who played Patsy Brimmer in that episode was not Mary’s sister. Just coincidence regarding the same name. I don’t recall Earl’s kids being in any of those wedding scenes.
Thanks for sharing, I loved all the weddings. I do wish there had been another reunion about Elizabeth and Drew getting married. Love the Waltons I wish there were more reunion shows.❤😊
That deer-in-the-headlights look on Yancey's face at his wedding... priceless. Robert Donner played that character so well. Have a wonderful Valentine's Day.
What a creative and fun fun fun episode!!! ❤❤❤ I especially loved (no pun intended) all the weddings in the series and reunions. Perhaps my favorite is Yancey and Cissy. That Yancey! Only Cissy could tame him in the series and in real life 😅. But truly, ALL the weddings were great. Thanks again Judy!!! 🎉
Back then marriage meant something much different from what it does today. The ceremonies were so much more special and precious to watch.
Agree, the show is how I wish the world would go back to. Not perfect, but way better than today!
I thought Rose was a cousin?
Married today divorced tomorrow is about the size of it today.
There were many perfect lines in the Waltons. One of my favorites was between Mary Ellen and Curt.

I totally agree!! The Waltons is my all time favorite series. I watched it as a kid and now I still watch it in reruns.
@@judynorton2598 you’re as charming and lovely as ever
I thought you were the most beautiful bride in the weddings. Your dress was amazing, and the veil was so delicate.
Thank you :)
I'm glad they let everyone's personality shine through. It seemed like that was the case but when people are acting, you don't want to presume what's entirely acting and what's expanding on one's own nature. Thanks for confirming what I felt.
Good points. Ultimately it was a mix.
I loved your character. She reminded me a lot of myself lol.
Awesome!
I think what I love most about the Waltons is the love you all feel towards each other. It's even more special that it has lasted all these years later.
It really is the best part of it.
My Dad’s Italian parents were married 75 years!! And my mama’s Irish parents were married for 66 years ❤️❤️
Oh wow! That’s so amazing. Good for them.
Amazing, nice to hear about positive relationships!

I agree. I love those two on and off screen.

Thanks bringing back good memories about the weddings on Waltons Mountain; yes, Curt was a very strong man to handle MaryEllen, 😀!
Glad you enjoyed it.
The first Curt was the best❤ Jonesy was ok too❤
Thanks for this, hon! I especially loved the scene at the end with Grandma and Grandpa dancing so full of joy, and everyone watching them.
They were such a great couple.
Yes, very much so, and such a wonderful inspiration as well!

I love Cordelia and Cody❤️❤️ They were so sweet together, and she was so good for him. Such a lively, vibrant and vivacious woman, so charming!! John Boy did a great job matching them up!!❤️❤️
It was sweet to see a romance between an older couple.
Happy Valentine's Day, Judy & all her Channel Friends!
My favorite love story on the show was Grandma & Grandpa, aka Old Woman & Old Fool.
💞💘💞
Great choice :)
All beautiful but Paul and Erin's had something special. Did I read that Mary McDonough actually wore her mother's wedding dress? And the emotion conveyed as John walked her down the aisle - could not be denied. Happy Valentine's day!
You are correct, Mary did wear her own mother’s wedding dress :)
This was great!! I am a Bridal Seamstress, so I always love seeing the Wedding gowns. I have heard that Mary actually wore her real mother's gown for Erin's wedding. I think that is very special! ❣️
Yes I believe that was part of the interview Judy did with Mary. If memory serves me correctly the dress is at B&B or the museum in Schuyler.
You are correct about the dress.
A peach delight, greetings from Manchester UK❤️
Awesome! Thanks.
When I think of John and Olivia I think of my mom and dad. They too had an honest and loyal marriage.
That’s awesome.
