What a beautiful winter snug. I can' imagine that the large rooms of a chateau become a little much to bear at times. The details of the design are gorgeous. Having a small, cozy space must be a delight. The simplicity of good company, or not, a dog beside you, a good book and just being warm must feel like a guilty pleasure after 5 years without. Congratulations!
Nice to see you’ve got the Carolle Thibault-Pomerantz wallpaper book so prominently displayed! The Purnon paper looks lovely in the snug. What a cosy room.
The wallpaper provides just the right amount of visual texture. I'm so glad the base boards were attached to the wall and not glued. Lovely space for you all.

I'm now not so frustrating watching as I'm not really interested in watching a restoration of a museum or library for example. I am really interested in watching you two live there, enjoy there, making a life for yourselves there; like how would someone today live in a private huge chateau. I loved seeing you curl up as a family with your adorable doogie on the couch. It'd be fun to watch you making tea or coffee or cookies in your upcoming renovated beautiful historic kitchen with modern appliances and then watch the halls and stairs you walk through to get to this elegant snug place. well done this is just what the Doctor ordered another old saying, I love the books and was longing to leaf through so many but much better to sit and read them lucky you ...because I`m a women I would love a large pretty bowl of peony flowers sitting with the piles of books on top of the case in front of the window ...the right shade of pink and white and burgundy in the arrangement would pop in the beautiful shades of blue around the room if you could get silk flowers made with a silk blend material that would be perfect....France has so many stunning things to enjoy ...just my thought please don`t worry if its not your taste after all this is your journey and true I talk to friends about the stunning results with the hard work keep it up and let the pace be your pleasure so we also enjoy the videos...lovely work.

C'est sublime. La couleur choisie va parfaitement avec les tomettes qui sont de toute beauté. Bravo. On sent la douceur et le bien être nous envahir juste en regardant la pièce 🙂
Well done. A small dark room will never be anything but a small dark room so it was nice to see you use that to its best advantage. Extra points for painting the ceiling the same color - opened the room right up.
Interior Trim Carpenter here. You MUST glue your finish outs (When 2 pieces of base are connected together) and outside corners of your baseboards. Also, make sure to cut finish outs on a 22° angle. Just nailing is not adequate. Eventually, the seams and outside corners will be very obvious and will start to separate if not glued. I know your on a budget but it should be done properly for sure. Consult a professional prior to starting a project for tips, etc. I do love your videos!

What a cozy room. And I love your sweet precious fur baby ❤
Thank you - she's wonderful!
well done this is just what the Doctor ordered another old saying, I love the books and was longing to leaf through so many but much better to sit and read them lucky you ...because I`m a women I would love a large pretty bowl of peony flowers sitting with the piles of books on top of the case in front of the window ...the right shade of pink and white and burgundy in the arrangement would pop in the beautiful shades of blue around the room if you could get silk flowers made with a silk blend material that would be perfect....France has so many stunning things to enjoy ...just my thought please don`t worry if its not your taste after all this is your journey and true I talk to friends about the stunning results with the hard work keep it up and let the pace be your pleasure so we also enjoy the videos...lovely work.
Thanks for your message and suggestions. We are always open to new ideas and different perspectives. We're thrilled you're following our journey and encouraging your friends!
I love the idea of a snug room. It's perfect
Thrilled you enjoyed it!
What a cozy retreat!
Thank you!
C'est sublime. La couleur choisie va parfaitement avec les tomettes qui sont de toute beauté. Bravo. On sent la douceur et le bien être nous envahir juste en regardant la pièce 🙂
It is cosy for sure and relaxing.
That was our hope... thanks for your message.
The snug looks great!
Thank you!
Congratulations to this place for relaxing and snuggling and enjoying the warmth. 🤗
Thank you for your message - we're thrilled you enjoyed the transformation.
Well done. A small dark room will never be anything but a small dark room so it was nice to see you use that to its best advantage. Extra points for painting the ceiling the same color - opened the room right up.
Lovely to see how after all the battles you have finally some “normal” life-spaces! 👏🏻💪🏻
Thank you! Yes, little things that give us joy and comfort matter more than you'd think.
Amazing project that not many would take on, one day you’ll enjoy the Château as a home, however, we all love our little snug 😊
Thank you - we're thrilled you're following our adventure.
Hi Deborah, thanks for your message and advice. We're thrilled you're following our journey. Please be assured the skirting boards were glued (both to the wall and the finish outs), we just didn't video that part of the process.
I love how you’ve transformed those spaces - it looks so cozy and I see Madame Truffle very much approves too! 😉
Thanks for your message - she is, of course, the key critic...
You are both incredibly hands on and have created a very beautiful cosy space.. glad you are comfortable and warm.
Beautiful little space to relaxe❤️
Exactly! Thanks for your message.
I can understand what Tim means. Even though it is only a really habitable room in the chateau, it brings life into the house and makes your goals more approachable and tangible.
5:28 just captures everything! Loved this video. Felicity, you make us Aussies proud! Would love a video about how you gained all your construction knowledge. Did you work in the family business? Was it the topic of many conversations at the dinner table? You are a star! 💖
I am so happy for you, now that you have a warm and cozy place to relax. The finished look of the room is beautiful. I especially love the books and bookshelves.

You do amaze me Felicity how hands on with the tools you are, a real inspiration. Great great work.
And I love your cute doggie.
Thanks for your message Kate. We're thrilled you enjoyed seeing the transformation (as did Mademoiselle Truffe!)
The room turned out grand, and I mean GRAND! At first, I thought it would be too dark, but it really turned out so cozy and elegant. Love the dark blue with the brass. I'm so glad you now have a room to relax in after a hard day working on your magnificent chateau.
How wonderful! A warm comfy room to chill out in the midst of winter. Most of us take this for granted, but as we get older it's the little things that become so special. (Watching a movie together.) I hope there was a nice Aussie red to go with it.....
When in Rome... they make us drink French red here (although we do occasionally take the cork out of a bold Australian red!)...
Perhaps the red needs to kept for special wins in the footy!
Wise counsel... but what would we do in winter here when there is no footy?!
Hmm.... I'll ponder on that. (BTW Tommy will pull on the boots for his original club - Finley Cats - for the Good Friday match. A one off only. )
We hadn't heard. Wonderful. A great human being.

As always, I love the choice of the details. The antique brass was an excellent, elegant and perfect selection for the overall look and feel. The wall paper design, and color, was another compliment to the Chateau's timeless appearance and design approach. The Chateau's exquisite transformation continues! ❤❤❤ 🎉🎉🎉

I LOVE the whole idea of these rooms... interesting that you chose such a dark color, our. The effect is "snug"; so lovely, warm and enveloping. I'd stay there 😉 Congratulations looks awesome after so much hard work to get it right. ❤ Oh and the etymology lesson, j'adore. 😊
Thanks for your message - yes, the dark colours make the room warm and cozy.
Oui, merci de le souligner dans votre commentaire. Je ne connaissais pas ce terme anglais de "snug" et j'ai été ravie de l'apprendre en regardant cette vidéo.
