The Courage to be Catholic

- This wonderful song is written and sung by Michael John Poirier, called "Light a Fire" My brother Mark, here in the video, I'm very proud of him. The bible says, "They presented these men to the apostles who prayed and laid hands on them." (Acts 6:1-6). The fact that the apostles "prayed and laid hands on them", gives the first indication that these men were "ordained" to a special task. In this particular case, to help feed and take care of the Greek widows who were being neglected by the wider community. Another clue to the deacon's role in ministry is found in the third chapter of St. Paul's 1st Letter to Timothy, which states, "Do not neglect the gift you have, which was conferred on you through the prophetic word with the imposition of hands of the presbyterate." (1 Timothy 4:14). In St. Paul's opening greeting to the Philippians, St. Paul sends his greetings not only to the bishops, but to the deacons as well. Thus, the Church has a well grounded biblical foundation for the ordination of deacon as part of the threefold ministry of Holy Orders.
May the truly Apostolic Churches be forever blessed! Non-believers see the light of Christ!
I am proud to be Catholic. Anima Christi!

“Pride cometh before a fall.” It’s an Old Testament proverb, it’s also a classic theme of Greek tragedy, and it’s a lesson we observe in our lives again and again...
It's a lesson some people never learn...
@cathofaithdef hello my friend! The song is called, "Light a fire" by Michael John Poirier from the CD "Be with us today" You can find it on itunes.
Thanks for the comment....But thats not the kind of courage I was speaking about in the title...

"When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called Religion."
~Robert M. Pirsig
@SETIat1420MHz , a few bad apples, show me any church without sinners...Is yours? And yes, there are many who take the Catholic Church seriously, including me. If you watch the video here, you will see the proof...., a church full of people...
@ebolingUtube I agree with HugoIStayHere when he suggests the media is for the people because most people share the media's viewpoint, but that is exactly why the media promotes it because people like hearing that kind of stuff, which is what you were getting at, I believe. The media gives one perspective, but the people have more than one perspective, as these posts illustrate, so the media cannot speak on behalf of all people.

"You can't convince a believer of anything; for their belief is not based on evidence, it's based on a deep seated need to believe." [Dr. Arroway in Carl Sagan's Contact (New York: Pocket Books, 1985]

@SETIat1420MHz haha :] yeah. peace!
Does anyone know what song that is and what band/singer?
@SETIat1420MHz no, it is based on faith. which makes us stronger as people. I have no problem with athiests, but I think it is ubsurd when they bash religion, (and usually the only one you see them bashing is Christianity).
@willthacheerleader18
"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion."
~ Steven Weinberg
That's a very thought provoking quote. People have done ugly things to each other in the name of religion (not in the name of God, for I believe God is love). And *every* religion has done ugly things against humanity. So is it not important to put your faith in the Saviour rather than an institution which can be corrupted?
@SETIat1420MHz these are quotes by authors and such. they are very deep quotes, but they mean nothing to me. I believe in God. However, I understand how some do not, and I respect their decision. I am a firm believer in the Catholic Church, and no one can change that. You are obviously a firm believer in athiesm, and I respect that and I am not trying to change your views at all. Many of my good friends are athiests. I just think it is sad when people attack religions or lack there of.
@HugoIStayHere To me, it sounds like the people responding are real. Obviously, there is a lot of misunderstanding. At first, I too thought you were criticizing all catholics and not just homosexual pedifiles of all faiths. I am glad you clarified that. But now it sounds like you are suggesting that only faithful lay catholics condemn molestation of boys and that faithful priests aren't condemning it. That's not what you mean, right?
In the U.S., 1 in 4 religious persons is Catholic. Doesn't take courage to join a club that has over 1 billion members word-wide. Some of my best friends are Catholic. They didn't need courage to be Catholic. They love the rituals and rites and traditions. They love the idea of being a Godfather/Godmother. If they ever get harsh verbal treatment for being Catholic then it just makes them feel that much more special and righteous. No courage needed.
Its Courageous to be a True Catholic
@SETIat1420MHz obviouslty over a billion people take the church seriously.
@SETIat1420MHz anyone can say anything. The proof is on the internet. With all the ramblings Adolf said, almost no one takes him seriously. Do you?
HELLO
There are all sorts of bad things in the CC - but they are not the reason for being Catholic. If there were no paedophilia in the Church, & no scandals, of any kind: that would not weaken the Church - it would be more obviously what it is, the one Church of Christ, which He loved, & for which He laid down His Life :) The Church lives, only because He lives for ever.
@willthacheerleader18
I have no problem respecting this position...
@stevesilvia i do read the newspapers and watch the news on TV and the internet...
I even read the bible and study religion...
"It ain't those parts of the Bible that I can't understand that bother me, it is the parts that I do understand."
~ Mark Twain
I even see what your trying to do...
Blame everyone else and excuse those who are truly responsible...
The Church and all of christianity need to face up to the truth of the cover-up that has been going on for years... So Wake Up!!!
@SETIat1420MHz since history says differently than what you say here, it is useless to try to defend what is clearly in history books. I ask anyone reading this to go and reread your history about this and you will see how far off mark that comment is...
@SETIat1420MHz your comment is wrong and miss leading. The sexual problems are within all churches, and public schools, doctors, and political leaders....You are just spreading gossip if you believe the problems are only within the Catholic Church. Wake up and read the news....
@SETIat1420MHz not true, I know "good" athiests who have done terrible terrible things. Religion has lead to many good things. The catholic church started education for the poor in Europe, hospitals, orphanages, etc. At the same time it has done some terrible things. It is not religion which is evil, but certain people twist their religions to be able to do bad things, therefore, they are already bad people.
@willthacheerleader18
"Faith is believing something you know aint true... A man is accepted into a church for what he believes and he is turned out for what he knows... I cannot see how a man of any large degree of humorous perception can ever be religious -- unless he purposely shut the eyes of his mind and keep them shut by force.... If Christ were here now there is one thing he would not be -- a Christian... If there is a God, he is a malign thug."
-Samuel Clemens "Mark Twain"
