I only recently started believing in God, and I have been praying for forgiveness for denying his presence.

A lovely little prayer that brings much peace to the heart is the Jesus Prayer. The church fathers teach that to call on the name of the Lord Jesus often has great power to keep the evils of this world at bay. The prayer is as follows:
'Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me (or us), a sinner. '
If you are praying for a group and use "us", the prayer just ends there. But, if you are praying for yourself you add the "a sinner" on. This helps reaffirm that though we sin, Jesus forgives that sin when we confess it to him and ask forgiveness.
I repeat the prayer many times during the day, but at night I count it off with a prayer rope as I lie in bed. I try for 1-2,000 before I fall asleep. On the nights I do this I have the most peaceful sleep.

I grew up in the Catholic Church, and I think this song planted seeds in my young heart. I rejected God and church for several years as a young teen (my parents forced me to go, so glad they did), but the seeds were sown, and my eyes were powerfully opened to the Love of God just over 10 years ago. I thank God for the foundation that was being laid growing up. Thank you Jesus.

But may I also add that many religious sisters were martyred in WW2 when they hid Jewish people.World War II happened because of the lack in tolerance. Maybe if we had more tolerance for each others views and didn't attack other people for faiths then we would be a better world.
It's amazing how maturity, wisdom, and an ear inclined to God's Word can change perspective. I heard this song so many times as I went to Catholic school. In fact, it was my 4th-grade teacher, Sr. Maria Edwina's favorite song. It means so much more to me now. I am not Catholic, but I am a follower of The Way. I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (July 12, Pentecost 7), we sang this as our Hymn of the Day. It is #574 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
I'm not a Catholic but as a member of faith - am a neighbour in the Anglican communion who appreciate this hymn. I am a church chorister as well!
I went through a test of my faith and it was this hymn - done by the Wells Cathedral Choir back in October - that carried me through the test of a hospital operation and out the other side and you in the US if you think we're backwards to needing a boost. We're not! Not in Britain. You hear their version for yourselves.

The night before my aunt died of cancer she said God was calling her in the night. This song reminds me of her.
This song always touches my soul. When I hear this song and think about all great souls like mother teresa, and how they touched and healed the lives of so many poor and suffering, with all selflessness, it makes me feel humanity still exists out there. When people leave all the hatred and anger behind they have accumulated/construed or been taught and selflessly love and care for others instead of waging wars/fighting over religion/rights of others, and truly care and love their fellow beings selflessly, that's when I see god in them. Maybe that's what god and saving is all about, loving and caring for the poor and needy and suffering, instead of spreading hatred and contempt in the name of religion. Love, live and let love, live and be kind to all.
Those who waste their time calling other faiths damaging and insulting names, are not following the bible. The bible says what ever we do to others, we also do to Him....

I went to Catholic School.There is something that stays with you. Every now and again its nice to listen to these hymns and remember how innocent we all were, sitting on a cold floor with our legs crossed. and we didn't know how hard life could be.
This was the entrance hymn for my mother's Memorial Mass last year. We sang it a LITTLE bit faster than this, because 1. it was a processional, and 2. Mom was a happy person, happy to answer the call of God. We wanted to express a little of that excitement and joy. I love the voices on this version, and this arrangement is really nice for relaxing.

We sang this song about 10 years ago in church. I invited my grandmother to spend the day with me. She told me it was one of her favorite songs. In 2010, my Gram sadly started to deteriorate. She was 92. She kept telling me she was tired, and wanted to go be with God. All I could imagine was this song! She was the epitome of what this song seems to represent. I miss her every day! But, this song helps me to remember that she was here to spread love, and Gods word, and now it is my turn!

I learned that the 10 commandments are here to make us happy. If you follow God and the 10 commandments, then you will be happy. God loves us, he doesn't want to burden us with rules. They are set for us. The devil is the one that tries to portray that they are bad. It's acctually very easy to follow, and it will make you happy. One time in a parish I attend, the priest walked up the alter for the mass to start, he was singing this. And all the parishioners was singing as though we're answering the lord. Every catholic, no matter if your a priest, sister, wife, husband. We all have a calling to do God's will in this world.

We have had so much technology that people always use they forget to love Jesus and everyone around them. God is good. God is love. Remember Nelson Mandela who is a legend and he was in prison most his life but he stood strong and still loved his enemies and I agree with him we should do the same as he did only the bit were you stand strong and live your enemies not the bit when you go to jail.

She was 90 years old. My family and I are heartbroken and grieving still. I had a nice Grandma who taught her grown children and grandchildren also great grandchildren to be nice and kind to everyone. They were involved in church and helped out with their neighbors.
