This is my favorite song since I first heard it at my son's Catholic school when he was in kindergarten. He used to get so embarrassed because I always cry when we sing it at Mass. He is 40 years old now and I am at his bedside in ICU in Galveston and they are removing his life support. I played it for him now and I will play it again at the moment of his death. A few days before my wife of 42 years passed away a bald eagle landed in a tree across the river across from our back porch. That song was played at her funeral. A week after the funeral the eagle return but this time ok our side of the river in a tree just off my back porch. He is now gone. In over 30 years that we have been here no one has ever seen an eagle before.

I went to Catholic school and was one of the "A-TEAM" altar boys who always was pulled from class to serve funerals next door at the church. My fellow servers and I would joke if the organist and soloist would sing this song. I served about 40 funerals in 5 years with this song being played so I became "numb" to its words and true meaning. Fast Forward 48 years and when my mom passed at 96 it was on her list of songs to be played at her funeral mass. When it was sung in our parish's new larger church it resonated with me and struck my heart in a deep way that I balled like a baby. I still cry when it is played at masses and cried even at the funeral of an older neighbor in August. Makes me realize God has them in the palm of his hand and we should all rejoice
I was away from home in a different country when my Mom passed away and my parish Priest asked if i would want a mass for her where I was and this was the psalm for that mass, it was my mom's favorite psalm. couldn't stop crying the whole time

I believed that god didn’t love me and wasn’t real for a long time and one day I was driving up interstate 75 towards Detroit and out of nowhere I felt this feeling and this song started playing in my head, I did a lot of bad stuff the night before this happend, and for some reason I almost was in tears that morning thinking about that song that no matter what I did and poor mistakes I made as long as I admit my wrongdoing to the lord and am truly sorry for my sins I will be raised up on and eagles wings

My very Conservative mother is who fought for me to receive the same "grace" as any boy by serving at the altar, and who showed me what it is to stand up for one's beliefs by bringing me to anti-abortion protests at the age of 8. My dad passed away two weeks ago. I was able to play this song for him in his last hour. It is a very meaningful hymn to our family, and continues to comfort us in our loss.
One of my good friends last year died from suicide. We never found out why. He was half a year from graduating senior year, an Eagle Scout, successful student and had an amazing girlfriend. When we heard the news, our entire school felt a surge in our hearts. My mother couldn't go to his rosary because she was afraid to make a scene by crying too much, honestly she wouldn't have been alone. We played this same song at his funeral and all of the Eagle Scouts in our troop (including me) carried his coffin into the hearse as it left for the cemetery. This song always reminds me of carrying his casket. He was carried away in the arms of Eagle Scouts, raised on eagles wings ❤

I have never heard anything more beautiful then to hear all those voices singing this song. It was like heaven opening up with angels singing and the sun shining down on us.

When I was in second grade like almost 40 years ago my teachers 4 year old son would often come and visit. He was so adorable that our whole class loved him. One day watching his older brothers hockey game he fell and hit his head and passed away. It was so stunning to us a in our catholic school. I remember going to his wake kneeling down before him and seeing how beautiful he looked in little suit and tiny coffin and this song playing in the background. This was always my favorite song going to church. We used to sing it in choir and my mother would sing it in choir in the adult chorus. And when she passed away when I was 16 they sang it at her funeral. And this song crushes my heart every time I hear it ever since. And I am now 43 years old. Beautiful song.

One of my good friends last year died from suicide. We never found out why. He was half a year from graduating senior year, an Eagle Scout, successful student and had an amazing girlfriend. When we heard the news, our entire school felt a surge in our hearts. My mother couldn't go to his rosary because she was afraid to make a scene by crying too much, honestly she wouldn't have been alone. We played this same song at his funeral and all of the Eagle Scouts in our troop (including me) carried his coffin into the hearse as it left for the cemetery. This song always reminds me of carrying his casket. He was carried away in the arms of Eagle Scouts, raised on eagles wings ❤

I lost my father , the love of her life , married 57 years June 6th 2020. One year and a half after my mother. He was heartbroken with out her. When I was in second grade like almost 40 years ago my teachers 4 year old son would often come and visit. He was so adorable that our whole class loved him. One day watching his older brothers hockey game he fell and hit his head and passed away. It was so stunning to us a in our catholic school.
I remember going to his wake kneeling down before him and seeing how beautiful he looked in little suit and tiny coffin and this song playing in the background. Something I will never forget and I still think of him today
