I was on leave from ministry when I heard a Catholic Church sing this. I heard God telling me that God was not done with me. I am back in ministry. Loretta and I married. Nine years later she passed from cancer. This hymn gives me strength to go on without her. I know my redeemer lives!
This was my former wife's favorite song. She passed away on October 30th of 2022. It was sang at her funeral. I can see why she enjoyed the song. It has become one of my favorites

Marian P., I know how you feel, for the past 6 month's I have been struggling in my faith and have fallen into depression. and am struggling with something that I know is wrong but do it anyway and have been for years, and years. Just today though God has healed my heart and soul. I am not depressed I am not sad. But in my heart and soul and body there is peace. and the way it came was by God. By just praying but not just a prayer. But I prayed from my heart and my soul and cried out to the Lord, and God has let me come back into his Heavenly family. So,what I would suggest to you is whenever you are depressed or sad or struggling or whatever. Go to God in prayer regardless of where you are or whats going on. because Gd is the alight comforter and he can help us, as God has helped me I know he can help you, all it takes is the courage to go to him in prayer, and stay praying and let God transform your heart, and your soul,and your body and life. Am currently in a mental health hospital as I've tried to end my life, when I heard this hymn on RUclips it has really helped me, knowing God is with us and will never forsake us, its now one of my favourite hymns, I just prey I will get better cause I've been in hospital 5 times in a space of 3 months. Fear is one of the most overwhelming darknesses known. This is such a powerful hymn describing that how ever powerful your fear and despair is, it is no match for Him. Have faith my brothers and sisters. God is never far.
You are right. You cannot stop fear. Only God can do that. But you can choose faith. When the fear comes up, consciously reject it and choose God, asking Him for faith. Say in your mind, "I choose faith." and keep your thoughts there until your mind follows. Peace be with you.

I came into my Catholic faith through my now wife. Converted after we were engaged so we could celebrate Mass at our wedding, and I could partake in the sacraments alongside her. It has special meaning because my wife, who passed of cancer (in 2010 at age 45--we had 5 children together, youngest was five when she died) , and I used to sing this together. This was my grandma's favorite song.....she passed away and I was crying so much......I was just a little bit mad at God but I said to myself why should I be mad at God when my grandma is in a better place because she prayed everywhere she went and she was caring for people even if she doesn't even know them. That's what I miss about here and also we have the same birthday and I would always spend the night at her house but the night before my birthday I slept at her house with my grandfather but when I would wake up the next morning nobody said happy birthday to me...Because when I wake up my grandma is always awake and she always said to me "goodmorning my little princess". But all of these years that she has been gone I miss her alot and still cry about her even though its been 3 years....and like I said I was just a little bit mad at God....but I'm only 11 so when she died I was.....9 or 8 so I did not understand......but she is in a better place......and for those who ever lost sombody in there family. I've been bullied since I was just a little kid. I wanted to receive love and attention but all I got was sharp words and worst...bruises. As I grew older I've held tons of grudge for the world and I've developed a taste for blood and destruction. I've done terrible and unimaginable things back in high school to show my dismay in the world, I wanted to reconnect with God but I had this doubt in my mind that maybe God is tired of forgiving me. It was early this school year when I felt like I just can't hold it anymore, I wanted to end my life...but I decided to stop by the church to ask forgiveness from God for the last time. I've texted few of my friends to accompany me in the church, but none of them replied except for this complete stranger (that I didn't liked) that I just met this school year. She attended the mass with me and she happened to saw my eyes glaring in tears. She talked to me and I told her everything, she hugged me while the church choir starts to play this song and I realized that God had never forsaken me, and never will. Since then, I started regaining my faith...I go to masses every Fridays and Sundays, quit my vices, reconciled with my parents and started to give spiritual and moral help for people like me. Me and that stranger have became best friends and eventually we fell in love. From a being rebellious and alcoholic student, I became a student leader and an active member of mayors council in one of the prestigious university in the Philippines. If you're suffering from bullying, depression, anxiety or any mental illness I want you to know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE, YOU WILL NEVER BE ALONE.

I heard this song like 13 years ago when my mom was about to die. We sang this in our 1st communion and I remember it still. my mom died in December 7. My communion was on December 10. I was still a child and in the day of my communion I wasnt crying at all but looking back now, I didnt smile at any photos. It makes me so sad. My mother passed away this past May. My dad made a tribute video and used this song (among others) to play at the “reception” after her funeral. It’s always been one of my favorites, as well as one of my mom’s favorites. I think I’ve accepted that my mom is gone, but it’s still hard, as I was pretty close to her.

First: I love this song. I had it played at my brother's funeral (sung by the choir director), and I hope to have it at my funeral. "Blessed Are They" by the same songwriter is also a favorite of mine. BUT -- and this is a huge "but" -- there exists good reason for some to despise these songs. The songwriter, David Haas, who I believe is also the male singer in this duet, was credibly accused in 2020 of sexual abuse of dozens of minor girls. After initial denials, he issued an apology. To the best of my knowledge, he has not faced personal criminal charges, but his music ministry faced a lawsuit. Multiple Roman Catholic Archdioceses, and multiple Protestant denominations, have banned his music.

Marian P., I know how you feel, for the past 6 month's I have been struggling in my faith and have fallen into depression. and am struggling with something that I know is wrong but do it anyway and have been for years, and years. Just today though God has healed my heart and soul. I am not depressed I am not sad. But in my heart and soul and body there is peace. and the way it came was by God. By just praying but not just a prayer. But I prayed from my heart and my soul and cried out to the Lord, and God has let me come back into his Heavenly family. So,what I would suggest to you is whenever you are depressed or sad or struggling or whatever. Go to God in prayer regardless of where you are or whats going on. because Gd is the alight comforter and he can help us, as God has helped me I know he can help you, all it takes is the courage to go to him in prayer, and stay praying and let God transform your heart, and your soul,and your body and life. May you go in peace my friend, and may God guide you and us all Amen!
Am currently in a mental health hospital as I've tried to end my life, when I heard this hymn on RUclips it has really helped me, knowing God is with us and will never forsake us, its now one of my favourite hymns, I just prey I will get better cause I've been in hospital 5 times in a space of 3 months. It has special meaning because my wife, who passed of cancer (in 2010 at age 45--we had 5 children together, youngest was five when she died) , and I used to sing this together. We met in our parish choir. So, we were both singers. She much better than me! RIP, Susan my once life love. May we meet again in Heaven.

This was my grandma's favorite song.....she passed away and I was crying so much......I was just a little bit mad at God but I said to myself why should I be mad at God when my grandma is in a better place because she prayed everywhere she went and she was caring for people even if she doesn't even know them. That's what I miss about here and also we have the same birthday and I would always spend the night at her house but the night before my birthday I slept at her house with my grandfather but when I would wake up the next morning nobody said happy birthday to me...Because when I wake up my grandma is always awake and she always said to me "goodmorning my little princess". But all of these years that she has been gone I miss her alot and still cry about her even though its been 3 years....and like I said I was just a little bit mad at God....but I'm only 11 so when she died I was.....9 or 8 so I did not understand......but she is in a better place......and for those who ever lost sombody in there family. I've been bullied since I was just a little kid. I wanted to receive love and attention but all I got was sharp words and worst...bruises. As I grew older I've held tons of grudge for the world and I've developed a taste for blood and destruction. I've done terrible and unimaginable things back in high school to show my dismay in the world, I wanted to reconnect with God but I had this doubt in my mind that maybe God is tired of forgiving me. It was early this school year when I felt like I just can't hold it anymore, I wanted to end my life...but I decided to stop by the church to ask forgiveness from God for the last time. I've texted few of my friends to accompany me in the church, but none of them replied except for this complete stranger (that I didn't liked) that I just met this school year. She attended the mass with me and she happened to saw my eyes glaring in tears. She talked to me and I told her everything, she hugged me while the church choir starts to play this song and I realized that God had never forsaken me, and never will. Since then, I started regaining my faith...I go to masses every Fridays and Sundays, quit my vices, reconciled with my parents and started to give spiritual and moral help for people like me. Me and that stranger have became best friends and eventually we fell in love. From a being rebellious and alcoholic student, I became a student leader and an active member of mayors council in one of the prestigious university in the Philippines. If you're suffering from bullying, depression, anxiety or any mental illness I want you to know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE, YOU WILL NEVER BE ALONE.

I heard this song like 13 years ago when my mom was about to die. We sang this in our 1st communion and I remember it still. my mom died in December 7. My communion was on December 10. I was still a child and in the day of my communion I wasnt crying at all but looking back now, I didnt smile at any photos. It makes me so sad. My mother passed away this past May. My dad made a tribute video and used this song (among others) to play at the “reception” after her funeral. It’s always been one of my favorites, as well as one of my mom’s favorites. I think I’ve accepted that my mom is gone, but it’s still hard, as I was pretty close to her.

This was my grandmother's favorite hymn she has asked us to sing at her funeral her entire life. She was an amazing woman and passed recently. My son and niece sang this at her service. The chorus of this song is on my Dad's headstone. First: I love this song. I had it played at my brother's funeral (sung by the choir director), and I hope to have it at my funeral. "Blessed Are They" by the same songwriter is also a favorite of mine.
BUT -- and this is a huge "but" -- there exists good reason for some to despise these songs.
The songwriter, David Haas, who I believe is also the male singer in this duet, was credibly accused in 2020 of sexual abuse of dozens of minor girls. After initial denials, he issued an apology. To the best of my knowledge, he has not faced personal criminal charges, but his music ministry faced a lawsuit. Multiple Roman Catholic Archdioceses, and multiple Protestant denominations, have banned his music.
