My mom and dad played Johnny Ace, all the time. Never understood him until I came home from Viet Nam and my girl friend met me at the door with another man's baby in her arms. Johnny and I have been friends every since.
I know what it is like to have a woman slap you in the face like that
Johnny Ace can sing. I read abiut him in a book which spoke of the very early black music pioneers
such as bb king , bobby blue bland
little richard and tbone walker.
The book also focused on the "chitlin circuit" the route and places black entertainers frequented in the "south"
before intergration came
into the south. I am a "southerner"
and a black female praise God.
Johnny Ace has a beautiful singing voice and he was given or wrote very sentimental songs. He had a very clear and melodic voice. I
enjoy hearing him sing.
I had just graduated from high school when this song came out. I was getting ready to into their air force. YES. these are memories. I was 18.
Hearing at grams with my uncle's 1950_

The late great Johnny Ace
There is a timing glitch at 1:24 or 1:25, not on original 78 or 45!
I have an old 78 that is the originial without the "glitch". I was beginning to think I was the only one to notice this on Pledging My Love.
yes I were at that concert when he killed himself. City Auditorium Houston TX
Must have been a total shock
Don , that’s what they want you to believe. My father in law told me he was messing with a white women . The
Racist mother fuckers killed him and covered it up to make it seem like it was suicide . Gone way to soon.
