Not a movie and not a fan of Dean Cain, but for my money, Cain and John Shea have one of the most defining Superman/Lex Luthor scenes ever depicted. Early in the episode Luthor is hosting Lois and Clark at his tower (the tallest building in Metropolis), he goes outside and says, "I like that people have to look up to see me". Near the end of the episode, Superman visits him at that same spot and ends their conversation with this line: "Oh, and Luthor, if you ever need to see me (he levitates)...just look up". Luthor's smug face drops instantly as Superman flies off. He is so unbelievably pissed off, his ego is shattered. How perfect. It really nails in the simplest way possible why Luthor hates Superman so much.

The most iconic for me is Henry’s Superman’s first flight, I always get chills watching it, from the moment the ice cracks as he takes flight and the music kicks in, I am just smiling the whole time.
Another moment for me is when Superman smashes into Zod, taking him to the ground and yelling “You think you can threaten my mother?”. A son will always protect his mother, but even if you weren’t raised by your mother, you can substitute the word for someone else, we all have that urge to protect.
I still can’t believe when some people say that they find Henry’s portrayal to be unrelatable. I find Henry’s Superman to be the most relatable by far.
A fun thing I find about that particular shot with Zod is that just as he yells “Where is the codex?”, the sky cracks and then the codex smashes into him 😁

Your number 1 is unquestionably the best Superman moment on film, and in my opinion still hands down the best introduction/first appearance of a superhero on-screen to date. Seeing Superman go full-out on Steppenwolf in Zack Snyder's Justice League. The raw power was amazing. I think there is a common idea in Superman films to show a somewhat de-powered Superman to create stakes, but rarely on film have we gotten the opportunity to see Superman go full tilt on an enemy and just dominate from start to finish.

  • @AtomicBuffalo

At the risk of hair-splitting, my favorite moment is Superman kneeling over Lois. The score begins to recede as our viewpoint shifts from kneeling in close with him to a sudden wide shot where he's SO SMALL -- and we are, just like him, stilled by the enormity of loss. We're pulled even further away, behind him, the deadly rocky cliff in the foreground, the score fading away to silence. And then even further away, overhead, Superman barely a speck. TIME STOPS.
I first saw this when I was nine. This movie dropped me down a hole and introduced me to despair.
And catharsis. And other things about the power of film that I couldn't articulate then but would keep coming back to discover and appreciate.
And, you know, if Superman cries, I guess it's okay for boys to cry too.

Im gonna give my favorite moments of superman and some moments from animated movies and comics.
    Movies:
    Man of steel:
    1. Supermans fight with zod. This scene has amazing visuals. The avatar movies don't compare.
    2. Supermans scream but lois hugging him. I honestly don't like the fact superman had to kill zod, i dont like that, but i do like the idea of superman being very stressed from fighting a guy who basically has the same powers but he had to take him out so superman wins, but at a big cost. Of course, its Zach Snyders writing. But i do like how lois comforts him when hes had to do something he knows hed regret doing. Similarly to Johnathan kent sacrificing himself to keep clarks secret safe. Clark could've saved him though.
    3. Snyder cut. Superman fighting steppenwolf. Its such a savage scene but its fun to watch.
    4. Superman 1. I love the scene with superman reversing the earths rotation to turn back time. It reminds me of when the flash runs back in time on the CW to stop a tsunami and he reveals his identity to iris till its undone. Its so similar because they both had crazy stakes and both had a lover in trouble.
    5. Superman 2. Lois and clark sharing a kiss and lois having amnesia. This is a brief and the only time in any version im familiar with, that shows superman using a forgotten ability, amnesia inducing kiss. Its a weird power but its why lois couldnt remember what happened. And imo, margot kidder is my favorite lois, shes so beautiful.
    6. Superman: man of tomorrow. So far, my favorite animated superman movie. It displays discrimination and how assumptions aren't the right way to approach things but also shows how oblivious people can be when showed something they don't understand. Lobo is hilarious, and clark even defends the parasite which is quite respectful since parasite looks like an alien but is human and superman looks human but is an alien. Its generic but its really good.
    7. One of the comics. Batman and catwoman and superman and lois switching costumes and just having fun. I love the scenes with batman and superman playing baseball. Its so sweet.
    8. Superman saving regan. Its a short but very heartfelt moment. Regan is on a rooftop, drops a phone when trying to call her therapist and considers ending it, but superman comes in and just hugs the kid reassuring her itll be okay. Its small moments like this that are a testament to who superman is. Hes just a man who wants to help no matter the case and is the kind of guy who you just wanna hug. When i saw a video of this moment, it genuinely made me tear up.
    9. Superman saving a kid from an abusive father. I feel sorry for those who grew up in abusive households. And superman helping with this is such a good thing. Superman is a ray of hope and love. And he doesn't approve of abusive parents and when authors writw stories like this, it feels good because i like to think the author is bringing attention to mental health, as well as abusive parenting and how helping a child through their trauma is a sign of what it means to be a hero.
    10. Literally any sweet scene of superman hugging someone. When its just a nice scene to watch or read, its just so sweet! And i find it rather adorable that clark/superman still believes in santa claus even as an adult. It shows Martha kent and Johnathan kent being such loving parents to clark and its so sweet. Especially in justice league, the episode hearts and minds when clark invites martian manhunter to Smallville for Christmas and hes gifted a big Christmas sweater and he molds himself to fit. Its so sweet and it makes superman so lovable. If i could, id wanna hug him.

    Right on.
We share some. From Returns: The airplane scene.. This is probably my number 2. The eye scene though, you're right.. such a cool one. Not sure where I'd rank it, but honestly probably top 5.
My number 1 is MoS's first flight scene though. It's just beautiful. We get the suit for the first time. We see the power. And... we also see that he is learning. Going back and rewatching all the movies, I can't help by think, The Movie took a lazy route in just having him "train" in the FoS for all that time. Which I mean, doesn't make sense really. The human experience of becoming an adult, getting a job, living on your own, juggling friends and work, all that was just not there for him, but he comes back a fully grown Superman and is just loved by everyone. It just doesn't work for me. In the First Flight scene we see this is a guy who has no idea if he can do what he is about to do.. he fails.. gets back up and tries again. He succeeds and we see the joy in his face. And the music.. oh man. So good.
Oh, and the Superman vs JL.. either theatrical or ZSJL as both were cool. When he saw The Flash my theater blew up with excitement.
One that wasn't on your list that I think should be... the diner scene. "I've been working out". I mean, sure there is a lot of bad to that scene.. he says "I never saw trash eat trash before" or something like that, which if I were the owner/chef I'd be pretty upset. LOL He also premeditated that whole thing and it would be considered assault and destruction of property. BUT it shows his human side. And come on.. it is always nice to see a bully get what's coming. Similarly the MoS diner scene with the truck, but I think the Reeve version is more iconic.
And as you said, the shirt rip scene.. I don't think anyone did it better than any other though.. it is just a shirt rip after all, but all three of them get points for doing the shirt rip.

    • @Superfitcosplay
      @Superfitcosplay  27 дней назад

@@coldfire22 I love all of that. You are so right with the training and the flight. I was going to add when Superman sees the flash in the justice league movie. But I think I just need to leave it at an honorable mention, but the cinematography of that was so great. I did like the diner scene in Superman II but kind of rewatching it, it’s sort of feels mean at this point, but the guy got what he deserved hahaha. A bit of an abuse of power by Superman? Maybe. But it’s fine. It was only once. Definitely less extreme than throwing that guy’s truck onto a telephone pole in man of steel hahahah which I wonder if that was an homage to Superman II- that little scene.

    • @coldfire22
      @coldfire22 27 дней назад +1

@@Superfitcosplay Hahaha.. Yeah.. I don't know.. I think the Superman II revenge scene (perhaps too dramatic to call it that? lol) was worse than the truck, because the Superman II scene he could have seriously injured the guy. I mean, I'm in pretty good shape, but I've hurt my back doing the simplest things. LOL Imagine getting slammed into a pinball machine like that? BUt I think it was a homage to Superman II.. or Smallville. They did the same thing in Smallville Season 1.
And I don't think it was just once.. this is a totally different conversation, but man.. Superman II Reeve was flat out scary. So the diner scene, yeah. But then if you think about it, he flat out murdered.. not just killed but murdered Zod! (Murder being premeditated killing). He intentionally depowered him. Then he tortured him by crushing his hand. He then throws him across the FoS slamming him into the wall and then allowing him to fall to his death. He then lets an arguably mentally ill Non to jump to his death. And then smiles and watches Lois kill Ursa. LOL Dude was scary as hell!!
Sure, people will say "but in the directors cut they were alive". Come on. We all know they were killed in the movie. And that is fine. In the 70s and 80s good guys killed bad guys. It was just accepted. lol

@@coldfire22 hahahaha omg I have never looked at Superman II THAT WAY. LIKE YES DEFINITELY HE MURDERED THEM. BUT THE TORTURE ASPECT, THAT JUST MAKES IT SO MUCH WORSE HAHAHAHAHA. OK I don’t know why my phone just made this all into cap, but I’m not going back to retype it. Hahahahah. We can leave it for the dramatic effect.

@@Superfitcosplay Right?? lol Next time you watch Superman II, you'll see it all in a different way now.
I mention this when I see people crying about Cavill killing Zod. It's like.. yeah he did because it was the only thing he could do. He was Superman for a day. He had no idea about kryptonite, no real way to get them into the phantom zone.. so he did what he had to and he showed some remorse RIGHT after. Mean while in Superman II... LOL

its a shame they went with the handheld gritty look with Man of Steel, its hard to see what's going on most of the time especially with the flying scenes.
