      @@fjalics Who are these other guys? Electrify America is a court settlement over dieselgate. The Charger subsidies are open to anyone. We also have the state run subsidize networks so that means 50 new charge companies with their own choice of hardware.
      No one is voluntarily investing in CCS at all. It exists due to government action or government subsidy. CCS is tiny because the companies making CCS cars are not building any chargers to support their own product.
      When the subsidies and state networks are all done, tesla laughably will be the largest CCS network due to how little is being spent by other car companies on CCS. CCS is dead, the salvation is they can swap CCS tips for BACS because they have the exact same wiring. You can use the CCS protocol over NACS just fine. Lemme game this out. The next version supercharger (V4) is already being installed in Europe and confirmed to have a longer cable. V3 Changers were paid for by Tesla, so it's likely that select V3 stations would be converted, to provide an open network similar to Tesla's phase 1 network, generally allowing state to state and coast to coast US charging, but not open global charging in high density areas. That would be reserved for the V4 charger's to be rolled out with govt incentives.

    Some Supercharger info:
    The V4 chargers are already rolling out with longer cables so the V3 retrofit was definitely just a pilot program to test the Magic Dock and App functionality.
    The Trip Planner onboard Tesla vehicles knows how crowded every Supercharger is and routes appropriately to suggest quieter locations.
    The charging port design Tesla uses is now open source so the only thing stopping other automakers from adopting it is their own unwillingness to implement it.
    Tesla hinted at exploring induction charging during their Investor Day presentation last week, though no word on this being added to Superchargers.

    • @starraidz791
      @starraidz791 Год назад

      Who cares if it’s open source why would anyone go to using Tesla’s when a publicly available standard is already there? A standard that is used by every single car manufacturer in the world other then Tesla. Tesla made their connector when there wasn’t a standard so it’s understandable why they were using it for so long. But they continue to use that old connector instead of switching to the standard which is just ridiculous. They already use the standard CCS in other countries so I can’t fathom why they continue sell Tesla’s in the US with their original Tesla connector. I guess they can sell more adapters 🙈

    • @taal223
      @taal223 Год назад

      Maybe because CCS is absolute garbage? Everyone hates it, women complain about having difficulty handling the cable.
      Tesla's Superchargers vastly outnumber all other charging networks and will be doubling over the next year. Any car company that adopts NACS will instantly have access to all of it. Not just those with Magic Docks. If we don't force them to now before its too late we'll be stuck with a horrible, anti-consumer "standard" forever.
      The only reason EU adopted CCS is because VW designed it and lobbied the government heavily. Ditto for Asia who's standard just so happened to be designed by Toyota and other Asian OEMs.

    Converting the industry wont happen over night, but in a few years. Ford GM, and the rest, will comply. Tesla could get even more funding, without the lines, till the rest or the car industry convert to the BEST. Make an option to upgrade my Chevy Bolt EV. Technically I've owned my bolt since 2019 and have never charged on a fast charger. Only at my home.......... For the last 4 yrs. Would make my Bolt more value for my once a year trips...

    Other EV makers could also do a "Google Messages" move and include charging extender cables with their cars, or at an extra cost too that would connect to the tesla adapter and give more length for their cars.

    • @dontbanmebrodontbanme5403
      @dontbanmebrodontbanme5403 Год назад

      But that wouldn’t be a google message move at all. When google did what they did, they made apple users feel the same pain android users did, by receiving an extra message, since they don’t know how to handle the new android message. By other EV manufacturers providing an extender cable, they simply make their cars more attractive to buyers, while not affecting Tesla drivers at all.

    Hah....I've never gone to a gas station and ever had someone in front of me take only 2 min. :-) Still, point made . . . a Bolt EV (as much as I really like the car) would really slow things down at a busy Tesla SC station. 55 kw/h is slow compared to most vehicles on the market right now, and fast charging ours takes 45 - 60 min if you drain it down low like you would on a road trip. It's a big reason we also own a Mach-E . . . which is still slower than the fastest SC sessions in newer Teslas (even if not by a ton).
