    The crazy thing when I was in optavia they talked down so much on weightloss pills, medication, surgery etc. And now that's exactly where they're headed! It laughable because at the end of the day it's all about making money. Beeeeecause it's an MLM!

      Optavia and LifeMD both need subscribers to stay in business. Optavia is giving people a way to get a legal Ozempic prescription (that their regular doctor won't give them). I think if you dug into the LifeMD's finances, you will find they are in dire financial straits so they are reduced to luring in customers with those Ozempic prescriptions. They figured Optavia was the perfect hunting ground for relatively healthy people who just want to lose a few pounds.

    • @randl7423
      @randl7423 Год назад +12

      That's what I would assume as well. They'll get a bunch of skinny, medicated reps running around social media claiming Optavia is the reason they look like that; meanwhile, it's Ozempic.

    • @kristinmay6985
      @kristinmay6985 Год назад +3

      💯 that Optavia is looking to make their reps have even more results. The fact that this is for reps who have been in the company a long time tells us that those reps need some new pictures and testimonies after they have plateaued on miniscule amounts of food. I feel pretty horrible for those reps. They are grifting others, but I don't think that means they deserve to feel they have to continue losing weight indefinitely to keep their businesses. It's a recipe for eating disorders.

  • @maymorning8504
    @maymorning8504 Год назад +118

    Given how unsustainable the Optavia diet is I wonder if part of the motivation here is to give reps the ability to continue losing weight without having to actually stick to the Optavia plan so they stay in the company and keep posting “motivation” pics to lure new people in.

      Well Ozempic suppresses your appetite, so it would make it easier to be on a low cal fasting plan. So both can be true. People can be using Ozempic to make it easier to not be hungry so that they can stay on these packets plans. I did a powder fast a few years ago and I was STARVING, constantly obsessed on food, and when I inevitably failed to stay on the plan, I went wild and ate everything within a mile. Ozempic makes it so you don’t even think about food. It’s not a “fat burning” medication, it’s an appetite killer medication.

    To add, I spoke about this whole thing with my mom just now and she said one of the most important part of a drs appt (she’s a 30+ yr registered nurse) is a visual assessment of the patient. She said a televisit basically takes that away and you miss out on so many clues about a persons health before even getting to the labs you need to have done. She said this is definitely not a safe way to get any prescription medication but especially one that has such a big effect on your body.

They need subscribers to survive.

    I have a season pass at my local water park. Yesterday, at the lockers, I saw an empty Optavia wrapper on the floor that I assume goes to one of their fuelings. To me there’s nothing more fun than a day at the water park, but all the walking, swimming, and standing in lines, with the sun beating down, can really take it out of you. It really troubled me to think about how someone may have been there trying to do all of that on enough calories to fuel a toddler. 😥

    • @XLindsLuvsPinkX
      @XLindsLuvsPinkX 3 месяца назад +1

      Not even a toddler. I read that toddlers need 1,000 to 1,400 calories a day depending on age, size, and activity level. I don’t know if she says it in this video, but at least one of the Optavia meal options is only 800 calories a day. Adult Female Maintaining Weight: 2,000 calories a day. Adult Female Wanting To Lose Weight: 1,500 calories a day. Adult male maintaining weight: 2,500 calories a day. Adult male wanting to lose weight: 2,000 calories a day. Now many in the medical field are saying THOSE numbers are still too low. It’s insanity.

      This.
      Usually, Ozempic does not cause many side effects (at least that's what my diabetologist told me)
      But because of the way semaglutide works, most side effects concern gastrointestinal issues.
      Personally I could not get about my day for about 2 days after the injection because I was vomiting so much and the other days I was nauseous
      A cousin of mine had gastritis from hell
      Another one could not get off the toilet for the life of him bc of diarrhea
      All 3 of us are t2d so it was prescribed alongside the guidelines.
      My Mom tried it to lose some stubborn weight but had such issues with her pulse and blood pressure that she is rather accepting that extra pounds.
      (There are alternatives. Speak to a Doc of course, those are just experiences of me and family of mine)😊

    My dad is on Wegovy for type 2 diabetes. It has been incredible for him. He has lost some weight (about 20lbs) but mostly it’s helped his blood sugar return to normal. It’s really the only thing he has tried that has helped him get his A1C back to normal. His doctor recommended he stock up on it because people are blacklabel using it to lose weight without working out. There are some side effects that cause major appetite suppression namely really persistent nausea. Dad is past that part now but apparently if you take it without having diabetes that nausea persists for the duration of the shot. And diarrhea for a couple days after getting your dose. Honestly, I’d rather be a little chunky than constantly sick and unable to enjoy my life and my kids.

      I've been on Jardiance for my diabetes which is a similar class of medicine and I've lost about 40 lbs on it. I'm down about 60 from my top weight over all. For me, I'd changed my diet. I exercised. I was doing everything right, but I wasn't losing weight. The meds broke through my insulin resistance and somehow the weight started falling off. I'm out of obese territory now and am just overweight.
      I can see how this would be super tempting for someone that has eating disorder tendencies. A magic pill that makes you lose weight and get your dream body has to be desirable.

    As someone on ozempic and slowly getting off of it, I can say right now that nobody on Optavia should even consider using ozpemic. In my experience, Ozempic makes you very full, and you barely eat anything. For example, when I was 2mg, I would take three bites of a hamburger and not feel hungry. I sometimes have to force myself to eat even if I was not feeling hungry. I know it's not the same for everyone, but that is how it was for me. I was also under medical supervision and had to see my doctor monthly to ensure I wasn't losing weight too quickly.
    My message is to please don't get on Ozempic unless you are prescribed by a doctor and are being supervised. And while you're on it, please make sure you are eating the proper amount of calories/nutrition every day.

      Beachbody is actually semi legit in their approach to weight loss - the only issue I had was their 2B program because I became obsessive with calories (it had us weighing daily which to me is actually unhealthy because water weight/retention) but their eating plans and actual approach is just calories and exercise… which is the true approach and makes sense. At the same time, no, coaches are not certified lol so I find it very frustrating because all a coach will tell you is “keep going” when someone genuinely has nutrition questions. They only have their own knowledge so I think the coach thing is definitely dangerous depending on one’s goals and knowledge!

    Hey Hannah! I am 10 years recovered from an eating disorder. My doctor told me I am pre-diabetic. I struggle with managing both without compromising either. I do need to loose weight but will NOT jump into diet culture because that would put me into a dangerous situation. I’ve heard many stories of women who used Ozembic solely for weight loss. You mentioned weight gain after stopping Ozembic. Every single story I heard, that is exactly what happened. A large majority gained even more than they originally lost. None of this sound s healthy to me and it actually makes me angry as I struggle with all of it.

      Ozempic if taken for weight loss is most likely a life long medication; my doctor made that very clear for the reasons you said. I don’t consider Ozempic to be diet culture, if you use it appropriately with a doctor. The biggest impact it has had is on my mental health. I have cut 99% of fast food. I no longer buy 4 variety’s of chocolate bars/packets when i’m shopping. That noise is gone from my head and as someone with ADHD i just struggled so hard with that, and usually lost. This infuriates me because I'm a diabetic, but fortunately for me I take other medicine for my type 2. However, this could be a domino effect of all these people buying up or getting prescribed Ozempic whereas those who need it will now have to switch to other diabetic meds which can cause a shortage of that drug. Diabetics no matter the type need their meds for the rest of their lives, some type 2 can get off their meds like how my grandma did when she was younger (in her 50's, she was diagnosed at 40), but when she got older she had to have it if she wanted to live. I will never be able to get off even if I lost an extra 20-30 pounds because I was born with gastroparesis which is what Ozempic helps with, it makes you have gastroparesis in a sense where it delays emptying your stomach. I seriously don't know how anyone loses weight that way because I sure haven't and again I was born with it. Recently in an article those who took Ozempic to lose weight eventually developed gastroparesis which sometimes developing gastroparesis first can lead to a diabetes diagnosis later on in life. Plus, this is a diabetes medication which is to help the pancreas with the sugar levels because that's where the control of sugar is contained and it makes me wonder if you're a non-diabetic and you take this stuff to lose weight (people who aren't specifically prescribed to take) then I would think you're overworking your pancreas and itay lead to it not working in the future which means you could potentially become a diabetic. I always feel that if you take too much of a drug it won't be effective anymore or it could lead to some damge to the body if it's not prescribed for you. People do not understand how they are harming others, but most importantly how they are harming themselves. This MLM should be sued or shut down before this happens and whomever prescibes these people who think they need to lose weight quick are not legit, greedy, and most importantly probably getting kickbacks for doing this which is against the law and is considered abuse/fraud...lol...I work as a third party in a medical billing center, we have compliance every year so this is what'l I immediately think of.

    I'm a french diabetologist. We also suffer from lack of ozempic for T2 diabetes because of this misuse. In France we are not allowed to prescribe Ozempic for non diabetic patients. However we have Saxenda (liraglutide) for these patients, and soon we will have also Wegovy, but obese patients have to pay for these treatments whereas as you probably know, Social security reimburses Ozempic for T2D here. So people tend to misuse and try to obtain a prescription for Ozempic to have reimbursement.
    Also... The "fuel" powders are so low calory. It's insanity. People are gonna lose weight very soon because of denutrition... As soon as they stop the program they will gain back even more weight than before. This restriction programme + treatment with GLP1a (Ozempic, Wegovy) is the recipe for denutrition and severe vitamin deficiency. Thank you for your thorough investigation. It got so bad insurances no longer cover it if it's not for diabetes, we have to get diagnosis codes or else the insurance won't pay for it and the normal price through good RX is around 1,250 for a 30 day supply. Even with the coupons they might bring it down under 1000 if they work at all, usually they won't. OZEMPIC also only works if you titrate up to a specific dose, so you'll get like five or six scripts at once, you might not even see full results until you get to a high enough result for weight loss, and as each stronger dose was needed we'd always run out, it was ridiculous. They need to stop using OZEMPIC as a fast weight loss thing, and using Optivia with that...ugh. Disgusting.

    Oh man I’m only on my short break not my lunch so I can’t watch the entire video, your still in the intro and I’m already hooked 😂😂 I just love your content and your personality, it always leads to a great watch. Oh well I’ll just have to wait til lunch break and watch it all then.

    Off topic but I just realized you tried all the Optavia fuelings while pregnant, and I just want to say you’re very appreciated for that. I can’t imagine eating that “food” that tastes so horrible while already pregnant and possibly nauseous. You’re a real trooper ❤️

    Here in the uk the latest information on ozempic is that supllies arent expected until mid 2024. A lot of type 2 diabets are no longer stable because of this, add in that the tablet form and similar injectable drugs have also been impacted by increased demand. We have been told by the NHS not to dispense any private scripts for it (not that we have the stock anyway) to try and ensure any supplies do go to the people who need it and doctors have been told not to start anyone new on it/similar drugs (even if this would normally be the best course of treatment) until this is all sorted out

    This is so disheartening. My doctor recently told me I'm pre-diabetic and need to lose weight, something I've found near impossible for the last decade since I'm highly insulin resistant (my body doesn't digest sugars properly). My doctor also told me she used to prescribe weight loss medicine like Ozempic to those with pre-diabetes but with all the drama surrounding Wegovy and Ozempic she legally cannot give me those now until I literally HAVE diabetes. Our country's obsession with weight loss is actively ruining people's health and this new direction for Optavia sounds deadly.

    It's 100% because all the other diet programs are making this change now like weight watchers and noom prescribing it now. It's horrific. I'm a clinical psychologist that specializes in eating disorders and this is terrifying. 🥴

      I watched a video about Noom from Mickey Atkins and it turns out that Noom has a similar approach of "put everyone on a super-restrictive diet regardless of what they actually want or need." Very concerning.

    I think you are right - As a former “coach “ when the ozempic craze started coaches were starting to worry that they would lose clients and some did to ozempic. Maybe it’s a way to if you can’t beat them join them 🤷🏼‍♀️

    This feels like a way to credit any weight from ozempic to optavia.

    Wow I'm in awe and disbelief that this actually be permitted!! So unethical and I completely agree that it's encouraging eating disorder. 🤦‍♀️ one answer why this is happening ....it's all about money and they always go with trends bc they know it works at the expense of people health, disgusting! Love you videos! Thanks hannah! Will be writing soon for a long time coming email on a horror story of mine. ❤

    Hannah, I’d like to add that there is now evidence coming out that some people are ending up with Gastro-paresis (stomach paralysis) from continued use from Ozempic. From your horror stories about Optavia, some people have had life altering side affects from being on the program for even a short time. Can you imagine ending up with diet induced injuries from both the Optavia and the Ozempic. It could seriously destroy peoples lives. And all to make a quick buck with an MLM. This makes me so sad and angry.

    Amazing video, Hannah. This makes me so angry and what I think is that this company is definitely giving Optavia a huge kick back for it financially. And therefore, for every client that gets signed up to just attempt to get the prescription, they get a cut. If denied, then they probably hope they'll just go for one of their Optavia plans. Also, I'm sure that for those who **do** end up with a script, it's just more weight loss and makes them look even better.

    I’m thinking it’s about better before/after pictures. Or maybe people aren’t sticking with optivia, so they’re thinking a drug that suppresses hunger would make these people not realize how little they’re eating and stay on their diet

    This is absolutely crazy. I work at a school and off the top of my head I know at least 3 women taking ozempic for weight loss only. One of those people I noticed drank a drink of some kind of drink every morning with the optivia logo on it. Weight loss gimmicks and MLMs are rampant in schools for staff. I’m from a tiny town in the middle of the US and I’m seeing and hear about this stuff DAILY

    I’m surprised to hear Hannah say she doesn’t get why Optavia is doing this. IMAGE. Simple as that. They want their reps to get on ozempic, lose a bunch of weight, and then post “I couldn’t have done this without Optavia” on social media and reign in new recruits. That’s why it’s a secret. They don’t want recruits to know weight loss is from a drug not their crap food.

    This reminds me of your other video where a trainer wrote in about training a juice plus consultant so she could claim her weight loss was the result of the products. She knew it would sell better if it looks like the product made her loose a lot of weight. Maybe they want top earners skinny because they sell more and they don't really care how that happens.

    Thank you for sharing these videos. I just recently found you and like your content. I am a coach with Optavia and really do like the fuelings and I have kept my weight off with the program. I don’t like anything about the Ozempic shot for weight loss. The habits of health by Optavia really did make you try to restructure your habits of health. With any weight loss program- if you aren’t watching portion control and moderation you will gain your weight back. Keep posting videos. It keeps us all informed.

    Hannah, have you seen the CNN report about stomach paralysis (gastroparesis) happening to folks using ozempic and wegovy? Might be something to look into. I doubt optivia will be sharing this new info with their consultants before they tell their downline to take it.
