The Wiesel is a great little vehicle with tremendous capacity! I can envision a light cavalry troop with platoons of Wiesel 1 and 2 sporting 30MM auto cannon TOW missiles, and anti-ATGM systems. The Wiesels would be backed-up by CV120s. The Troop HQ would 3x Wiesel mortar carriers for indirect fire support. These are all light weight systems that can use lower class bridges. Their low silhouette makes them easier to conceal and find cover, but their fire power makes them very lethal if they are forced to engage the enemy as in a meeting engagement or counter-recon fight! Security is speed and stealth! IRT air drop the Germans should use the US Army Airborne system of specially built aluminum pallets and heavy drop parachutes! As demonstrated it is great for Airborne/Air Assault operations also!
This newer tankette has much potential for extremely lightweight variants including unmanned. A potential for high highly effective, high energy electromagnetic anti-tank weapons mounted on unmanned variants is both an effective and casualty limiting method for force multiplying applications. Add some explosive reactive armor and let the US 82nd Airborne have some! Maybe give the driver a machine gun (kinda like how WW2 tanks had one for the driver/co-driver) and keep a couple of AT4 launchers for the gunner like they have strapped on the sides of the Desert Patrol Vehicle (dune buggies).
They need to roll out a civilian version, would make for a fun range ATV. Along with being useful in the forestry service and Emergency response in some remote areas.
They mentioned the APC version of it. It has 4 passengers. However from other things I read it may not be in service and may have only been a test vehicle. Perhaps that info is out of date and it's in service now. I don't know.
@20:00 "Okay, guys, so here's what we do: we put the turrets back on and roll around shouting, "Ex-term-e-nate, Ex-term-e-nate!!!" from the loudspeakers, okay?"
It is definitely rational for the US Marines or Taiwanese naval forces to adopt the Wiesel now that they are starting to retire the bigger Abrams and are switching to the WW2 "island hopping" strategy. Think about it, if a war between China and Taiwan (or the Phillipines) is to break out and the US decides to get involved. The Marines can just parachute these babies (with the appropiate modifications) onto the islands that may be too cramped and marshy for normal armor columns to provide more substantial firepower for the naval or parachuted infantries. Even if the Chinese manage to send their lighter ZTQ 15 onto the islands, the Wiesel's autocannons and missiles are more than enough to knock them out while maneuverable enough to get away from the incoming artillery barrage
Why have British Paras and Marines not got these Fantastic Vehicles they are Brilliant !!!! javalin Anti Tank Missiles would be good on these Vehicles as well !!! The Mortar system version is Brilliant !!!! ; ))))

I am 6'2 and had no problem fitting into the Wiesel.
@@davidross1839 and now pls in metric soo the rest of the world knows how big you are.
@@Tankliker ca. 1.88 m
For the money the US can buy 15.000 Abrams or the Russians 15.000 T90 MBT Germany can buy 150.000 Wiesel Tank destroyers. So who`s our next enemy - you`re welcome
the tank needs a standing plate fixed to the back so some troops can stand on the back to move towards the enemy
It's not a tank......
Next time pls a video about the AAASC "Advanced Armoured Amphibious Shopping Cart".
Добро. Знание превыше всего.
vehículo altamente útil para tropas aerotransportadas, agregaría potencia de fuego y movimiento
Badass! Ukraine needs these
then they should buy some 🙄
Add some explosive reactive armor and let the US 82nd Airborne have some!
Maybe give the driver a machine gun (kinda like how WW2 tanks had one for the driver/co-driver) and keep a couple of AT4 launchers for the gunner like they have strapped on the sides of the Desert Patrol Vehicle (dune buggies).
Put a moderm 300hp 4 cylinder diesel in it - ❤
Is there an option to put the new 130mm smooth bore gun on it?
with every Wiesel video I watch, the engine replacement time drops by five minutes... I guess in 3 vids it'll spawn a second engine?
Has enough armor to defeat small arms. Still, a compact little weapons carrier.
They need to roll out a civilian version, would make for a fun range ATV. Along with being useful in the forestry service and Emergency response in some remote areas.
"There is no equal to wiesel in the world"
Some syrians="observe!" *shows a scrap metal wedge with remote controlled 12.7mm DSHKA*
Yes...... BMD!!!
From king tiger to leopard to weasel
someone yealous?
The Wiesel is pretty suitable of Philippines like retain,
Terrain, Gaspar and yes i agree, ideal for Philippines landscape environment.
Yep, good for the terrain here. Perhaps an active protection system just in case an anti tank team is around.
Good for Philippine terrain but it has to have air conditioning unit due to very hot and humid weather there.
Just make it remote controlled and it’ll be relevant again far into the future battlefield.
They have built a digital Wiesel with remote control
I have thought about a system like this many times .,I called it the Timber Wolf .
It was meant to support regular tanks and Urban combat .
DML
I have this question. Can the wiesel be a troop tranport too ? Like can be modified like one ? I do really love this small but lethal tank
They mentioned the APC version of it. It has 4 passengers. However from other things I read it may not be in service and may have only been a test vehicle. Perhaps that info is out of date and it's in service now. I don't know.
@@timthorson52thank you for your information
@20:00 "Okay, guys, so here's what we do: we put the turrets back on and roll around shouting, "Ex-term-e-nate, Ex-term-e-nate!!!" from the loudspeakers, okay?"
That thing is perfect...... Now all it needs is like a tow behind trailer that can carry like a squad of troops or heavier weapons
There are already Wiesel with MELLS ? And for transportation there is already the Caracal.
It's basically the great-grandchild of a Panzer 2.
Why have British Paras and Marines not got these Fantastic Vehicles they are Brilliant !!!! javalin Anti Tank Missiles would be good on these Vehicles as well !!! The Mortar system version is Brilliant !!!! ; ))))
well because they had scimitars and other vehicles, and now they don't. also because the same job can be done by something wheeled and cheaper, like, I dunno, a Humvee?
@@havoc3742 The Humvee can carry TOW but it can't carry a 20mm cannon. There is nothing like the Wiesel in the World. The Scimitar and also the Russian series BMD-tanks are much heavier. Two Wiesel can be carried inside a CH-53/MH-47 helicopter.
@@davidross1839 you're right, clearly they should've bought Toyota Hilux's, which can mount everything from heavy machine guns to cannons to rockets.
@@havoc3742 I mean if the armore is so weak that it doesn't bring any atvantage why even use armore? The HUMVEE series is somewhat of outdated in case the enemy can deploy even 20mm guns where ever they want.
@@Tankliker yes, but the point is, the wiesel is just as lightly armoured and it's more complicated, more maintenance intensive and offers few advantages over something like, say, a humvee, or other light wheeled vehicle in general. I only said Humvee because it was the first thing that came to mind, and Everyone knows what a Humvee is. and for the purpose and role the wiesel fills, it could also be filled with something like a humvee
hard to see, small and fast should not be underestimated
As the war in Ukraine rages on; these things could easily replace the MBT. Harder to see and hit, multi-role, easily maintenanced.......... these things are awesome.
The wiesal to me is what the evolution of a Brendan gun carrier could have been !
28:00 so it's not amphibious? Sounds like it could use a snorkel at least?
Love this thing.
