Nikon has such beautiful and vivid colors. Question for the Z30 tho, how's the battery life while taking Videos? Is the battery detachable? Also, how's the video stablity when walking? I kinda stomp when I walk and I'm concerned when taking walking videos 😂
If you walk and video a lot, then this won’t be the camera for you. Under normal operation, or in my experience filming while standing still or taking slow steps, it’s fine.
Thanks! I'm finally upgrading from shooting photos and videos on my phone, a Pixel 6 Pro. It's excellent, but obviously a smaller sensor than the Z30 Please pardon my ignorance, but where will I notice the biggest upgrade? I shoot a range of photos and videos - portraits, landscapes, wildlife, food, and more. I'm guessing the Z30 will have better depth, better color, and much better video. I'm concerned that the Nikon software will be so much worse on auto mode. I had a Nikon DSLR, mostly shooting in auto mode (and occasionally portrait)
Thank you so much for watching the video!! Yes, the depth, color, and video will be noticeable...but I also think you'll see a huge boost in performance through auto-focusing. It's fast and intuitive! Also, the 21MP sensor will provide some great files to edit when you shoot in RAW! Thanks so much for watching.
I have to start by saying, I don’t have physical experience using the Sony ZV-E10, so take what I say with a grain of salt. But based on the spec sheet, it is very comparable with the Z30. The Sony is 24mp and has 425 focus points while the Z30 is 21mp and has 209. But the Nikon Z30 also has better ISO range and can shoot 4k 30p uncropped while the Sony ZV-E10 has a slight 1.2x crop at 4k 30p. Also, there have been a couple of reviews that concern me. One reviewer said that the Sony over heats after continuous use over an hour. They also stated that you can’t take photos while video recording, while the Nikon Z30 CAN take JPG stills while video recording. Another reviewer stated that the Sony ZV-E10 doesn’t have a physical dial/switch to toggle between photo and video mode which might be confusing for some. (There is a small button at the top). The Nikon Z30 has a switch that toggles between video and photo mode and has a really good ergonomic layout with all the buttons and dials you need. Also, the reviewer stated that the menu system is long and confusing, while I’ve always found Nikon’s menu system to be simple and intuitive. I’ve always found Nikon cameras to be practical with their menu and button layout, while being comfortable to hold in any orientation, all while maintaining high quality photo and video quality. Thank you so much for watching!
I purchased the Z30 a few months ago and for the price it does an amazing job, although the lack of in-body VR does bother me if I use a lens without VR. I purchased my one with the 16-50mm and the 50-250mm lens kit and would highly recommend the 50-250mm lens.
How is the stabilization when moving with the camera? I kept reading about the lack of stabilization within the camera. For some reviews there were complaints that it ruined
Correct, there is no in-camera stabilization that the higher tier cameras have in Nikon’s lineup. It was a bummer to hear for a lot enthusiasts. From my experience, I don’t run and film at the same time 😅 when I’m filming, I’m stationary or slowly taking steps. Under normal operation, you’re totally fine, but if you’re a film maker or expecting to run while filming, either get a gimbal or look at another camera. Thanks so much for the watch!
Nice video. I may have missed it, but how far away was the front of your lens from your face when you tested out the kit lens and the prime lenses? I'm sure you didn't move the camera for the tests, but how far back is the camara mounted? Also, how do you mount your camera? Do you have it attached to the desk with a mount or is it on its own tripod? Again, nice and informative content and I appreciate it.
Hey Mookie, thank you so much for the feedback. I'm glad you liked the video. So from where I'm sitting, my face is about 35 inches away from the camera. My camera is mounted to my desk by using the Elgato Master Mount which clamps on the desk, and the camera is about 24 inches above my desk. I hope that helps!
Thank you so much for this detailed review. I just learned about this camera today and am considering buying it. You may have just sold it to me, Bro. 😂 Thanks again.
My z30 comes out when I go out. Was looking for a ‘street photography’ camera for a long time. Not wanting to pay a ton of money for a couple years old camera like what people want. Bought the z30 for a bargain. When I’m out and about it’s the z30, if it’s paid work I use my z6ii.
I’m honestly still deciding between the Z50 and Z30. I could really careless for the vari-angle display…but these cameras are PERFECT for street photography. I like how you think!! I appreciate the watch 🙏🏽
Hey! Thanks for the watch! The weight was definitely noticeable. Not ideal for one handed shooting, and I would make sure to use both hands when using it. Gotta note, the deep grip on the Z30 did make it more comfortable to hold vs using the 14-24 on the Nikon Zfc 😅 Thanks again for the watch!
Hey! Thanks so much for watching. Just to clarify, you're asking if you can livestream STRAIGHT from the Z 30? Yes, but you need to properly set it up. I have done this before with my Z 5 and I want to release a video about it soon...but here it is in a nut shell: Z 30 > HDMI OUT > Capture Card > OTG Cable > Android Phone > RTMP Server App > Push to Live stream Service. I hope this information helps!
I’ve been using mirrorless full time since 2021…and I’m mainly a prime use and constantly switching lenses during weddings, etc. I haven’t had ANY problems with dust. I’ll maybe clean my cameras every other 6 months…but other than that, I’ve never had to stop shooting because I need to clean dust that came in from changing lenses.
Very true. Unfortunately I don’t have the luxury of an air-conditioned room. My room gets to like 92-94 degrees in my office when I stream with the doors closed. I just found when that LCD was flipped out, I had no overheating issues. But I see what you’re saying. That’s for the watch anyways :)
It’s easy for me to choose Nikon because I already have a variety of lenses and equipment for Nikon. I see hardly any difference between the Z30 and Sony zv10, there’s nothing that Sony’s camera offers that would make me want to jump ship. If you don’t have a camera, and you’re already considering Sony, just got for it. On paper, it’s got “better specs”, but in terms of usability and ergonomics, I think Nikon is better, both producing near same photo/video results. Nikon is cheaper also. But both are are great cameras.
@@TLDAcademy thanks for detail reply. Can you say how much time the full battery lasting for 1080p video recording of Nikon and heating issues while recording and how is 1080p indoor lighting quality and any autofocus issues. Thanks ❤️🙏
I would say that you could essentially use any camera to capture images of the stars and the milky way. Even a ten year old DSLR beginner camera. Having a tripod, a shutter release cable, the kit lens and patience can get you a lot of beautiful Astro images. That being said, I know there are more complex setups with the use of telescopes and using adapters with your camera bodies…I don’t know too much about that but to think the Z 30 is definitely a good start.
With the same price, Sony a6400 is much better since the autofocus and video are much more flexible than Z30. But the battery quality isn't as good as Z30 however Z30 don't have a view finder which gonna be a bit annoying for photographers
Not at the same price. The z30 is much cheaper so the z50 is the one a6400 is competing with. While AF is a tad bit better on the sony, the AF difference is also not noticible unless you're shooting in extreme low light which is not recommended often. The Z50 has better low light performance overall, better ergos, great kit lens, superb ergonomics, great touchscreen and layout and great DR.
I appreciate the feedback! I've always admired Sony's from the sideline. I've maybe been hands on with them once or twice and I feel like if I had started out with Sony, I'd be using them today, but at the time I got into photography, Sony wasn't that deep into the game yet. Things like menu system and ergonomics matter a lot to me and I just can't seem to enjoy Sony's experience.
Tbh, I was quite inconvenienced by the over-heating while live streaming with it. I did kinda solve it by keep the LCD screen open, but still. It does have that problem. Thanks for watching the video!
@@JantaSaree-gl1uq Z 30 still. As a Nikon user with Nikon glass, there is no incentive for me to use another brand. If I was buying a camera for the first time, choosing between the Z 30 and the a6400, I would still choose Nikon as the Menu systems aren't as confusing as Nikon and the Z 30 is much more comfortable to hold. At this poing, you go either way, on paper, they have their trade offs but you really need to just try it for yourself!
The Canon R50 is a much better offering from Canon compared to their past 'content creator cameras'. If you have Canon cameras/lenses already, then just stick with the R50. If you're buying a camera for the first time, I would suggest the Z30 as they compare pretty similarly in terms of quality. I prefer the ergonomics and usability of the Nikon vs the Canon.
Thank you for letting me know about the VR!! I guess that’s the work around yea? Just use lenses with VR. But thank you for watching! 🙏🏽
@@TLDAcademy there's stabilization in the kit lens though right? Does that help too? I'm new to this so clearly still learning how it all works
It’s an awesome travel camera 📷
I absolutely agree with you! Thanks for the watch 🙏🏽
Will u pls more about live streaming... Are u using camlink or some other pls explain a bit more
Is kit lens good for night street photography
I cannot seem to be able to find where they moved the "photo effects", my old D3300 had a designated dial just for those effects. Pls let me know, thx
Thanks for the review! What camera are you using to record yourself in this video?
Nevermind! I heard you say you're using the Z5 to film yourself
@@shalomsherah yes, you’re correct. I was using the Z5 mainly to film myself :)
Thank you so much for watching ! I appreciate it 😊
Best for street. Z5 mk2 should using base body of z30.
Está Z30 parece un gran complemento para la Z5!!!!!
¡Todavía amo y uso mi Z30 junto con mi Z5 y Z6II! Gracias por ver el vídeo.
Thank you so much for this detailed review. I just learned about this camera today and am considering buying it. You may have just sold it to me, Bro. 😂 Thanks again.
You’re very very welcome!! Thank you so much for watching!
@@TLDAcademy z30 because of the usb C, convenient fast charging over micro usb.
@@donkeybizle ANOTHER solid reason 😮💨
How is it in night time video? Can you upload a sample for night or city life video quality?
@@digitalimpulse that would be a good idea!! If I can get my hands on another Z30, I’ll be sure to do just that. Thanks for the watch!
Hi the 14 - 24 looks big and heavy 1000g - did it balance ok on the Z30, did it feel front heavy
Hey! Thanks for the watch!
The weight was definitely noticeable. Not ideal for one handed shooting, and I would make sure to use both hands when using it.
Gotta note, the deep grip on the Z30 did make it more comfortable to hold vs using the 14-24 on the Nikon Zfc 😅
Thanks again for the watch!
Does it have a skin smoothing option?
Does the Nikon Z30 work with live streaming in public like outside??
Hey! Thanks so much for watching.
Just to clarify, you're asking if you can livestream STRAIGHT from the Z 30? Yes, but you need to properly set it up. I have done this before with my Z 5 and I want to release a video about it soon...but here it is in a nut shell:
Z 30 > HDMI OUT > Capture Card > OTG Cable > Android Phone > RTMP Server App > Push to Live stream Service. I hope this information helps!
It seem their is no shutter curtain when You change lenses? Is this not a problem? Dust?
I’ve been using mirrorless full time since 2021…and I’m mainly a prime use and constantly switching lenses during weddings, etc.
I haven’t had ANY problems with dust. I’ll maybe clean my cameras every other 6 months…but other than that, I’ve never had to stop shooting because I need to clean dust that came in from changing lenses.
One thing super worst is it easily overheat when shooting 4k even in air-con room and quite bad stabilizer and spanner tight zoom lens
Very true. Unfortunately I don’t have the luxury of an air-conditioned room. My room gets to like 92-94 degrees in my office when I stream with the doors closed. I just found when that LCD was flipped out, I had no overheating issues.
But I see what you’re saying. That’s for the watch anyways :)
Why would you choose this over sony zv 10. Im really in confuse to choose between both. Which one to buy 😔😔
Thanks ❤️🙏
What camera did you use to film this video?
well you liked it but whats the answer lol
Is z30 for beginner astrophotography?
Good feedback. Thanks for the insight!
Valeu!
Wow!! Thank you so much for your generosity. I appreciate you watching the video!
But Nikon z30 have big issue about over heating
Tbh, I was quite inconvenienced by the over-heating while live streaming with it. I did kinda solve it by keep the LCD screen open, but still. It does have that problem. Thanks for watching the video!
Z30 or A6100 for street photography in 2023 ??????
Z 30 no doubt! EASY
@@TLDAcademy and between z30 and a6400 ?
@@JantaSaree-gl1uq Z 30 still. As a Nikon user with Nikon glass, there is no incentive for me to use another brand. If I was buying a camera for the first time, choosing between the Z 30 and the a6400, I would still choose Nikon as the Menu systems aren't as confusing as Nikon and the Z 30 is much more comfortable to hold.
At this poing, you go either way, on paper, they have their trade offs but you really need to just try it for yourself!
Anyone else catch that a6 4:36?
Canon R50 v Nikon Z30?
The Canon R50 is a much better offering from Canon compared to their past 'content creator cameras'. If you have Canon cameras/lenses already, then just stick with the R50. If you're buying a camera for the first time, I would suggest the Z30 as they compare pretty similarly in terms of quality. I prefer the ergonomics and usability of the Nikon vs the Canon.
Thanks for the watch!
@@TLDAcademy thanks for the prompt reply! 😊
Should I go with the 16-50 mm and 50-250 mm kit lenses in that case?
