Amazing advice. I'm two years and 4 months into my 🔒 loc journey and I absolutely love the art of doing less. However I do re-twist because I want some uniformity, but not as often. As long as I keep my locs separated and my scalp clean and moisturized it really works for me. I would consider my locs semi free form. Long live the loc community! Thank you.

Your locs are beautiful! I haven't retwisted in 11 years....I don't care to see my scalp lol. I just make sure to take time to pull them apart from time to time so they don't grow together. Otherwise my routine is very low maintenance and I love it! I use a watermelon juice based shampoo (wash my hair every 3 months), for oil I use 'wild growth hair oil' and in between washes I refresh with a homemade tonic spray of water, fresh cloves and fresh rosemary.... that's it! Keep stress to a bare minimum, eat as healthy as your budget allows and love on yourself....all of our hair can flourish!

The loose hair before they started to loc up was crazy, but now babeee @27 months I can go 5 months or more without one and I’m so happy about it..

Nov. 8th 23 will be 1 month on my journey 😅 but these are things I'm trying to learn and decide if I want to do retwists ( palm rolling) watever or just let it be. I don't like the free form look or style so I do want to keep it neat and styled when it's ready.

Peace Empress great video . My persons are considering not re twisting as much . I’m a year in the loc journey. I too like doing my hair and feel forced to drive somewhere for someone else that I really don’t have a relationship with doing my hair . Nice lady but I’d rather be home listening to the teachings and feeling my own vibes and chill . I noticed the left side of my scalp the locs are thin and fragile so they’re telling me they want to grow on its own . Hetepu and many blessings of health and abundance sent your way . ❤

Once I learned that retwisting doesn't loc your hair I was like word I'm not spending time on that. Like you said: our hair will loc anyway.

I since the pandemic..I had to cut my long locs because I was messing with it to make it longer (added extensions but crocheting)and my roots was beginning to thin per my stylist..I panicked and told her to cut off some length off but I ended up cutting the rest short into a bob..during that time of reset..I decided I didn’t want to retwist my locs often and opted not to use products…with research I made flaxseed gel and light retwist once every three weeks. I make my own oil mix and call it a day.
My locs are thick and I’m happy with the way it looks.

I started out my loc journey 2 years ago and the 1 thing every stylist told me is that my hair type is too soft or I have (Good hair)
they would said it may not loc up if you keep retwisting into a new style - which I kept doing. I can definitely say starting out on a loc journey is difficult b/c thats when we are more conscious or focused on how our hair looks instead of leaving it be to loc on its own. I used to do every 2 week retwists, then turn it into a once a month and now a half a year. Getting a retwist every 2 weeks is like another bill, so thats when I started to do less and just let the hair do its own thing.
