Definitely considering semi freeform. I love the effortless look and one of the reasons I wanted locs was because of the low maintenance. I want a more natural, organic flow to my hair while still being somewhat cultivated. I'm not particularly into the styling so I'm really looking forward to going semi freeform. I'm about 3 weeks loc'd so I'm pumped
I did free form by accident and i love it. 😂 i tried to loc my hair myself didn’t know what i was doing and was super lazy about doing my hair but it ended up looking unique of course ppl think it’s a mess but it’s my mess. I just don’t like the clean straight line look 🤷🏾♀️
Words straight out of my mouth.. my elder sister has been bugging me to retwist, but i just don't have patience for that. Not to mention i do NOT like the clean look, it just doesn't fit my personality.
I'm so happy I found this video. I've been thinking about getting locs for YEARS. I just couldn't decide because all the people I could find with them online had so much maintenance involved. It felt like a bigger commitment than what I really wanted it to be. This video spoke to me on a spiritual level. I've literally never had that happen in all my time researching locs. You've made me fall deeper in love with my hair and this hair style. Thank you! 💛
Woowww this meant so much I’m so honored that the video resonated with you spiritually! Our creator has a great way of speaking through people to us but Im so glad you feel deeper in love with your natural. Love to hear it! ❤️
I started with 2strand and I'll be 1 year in February. I have fine 4c hair and Ive noticed over time I'm enjoying the fluffiness also, couldn't agree more it really is a spiritual thing. I only started them because of boredom and so much has changed I respect it more. Thank you for this!🙏
I can definitely relate with the natural hair drama. So glad I loc’d my hair. I have 210 microlocs. Tested the semi free form for 3 months then had to retwist and retie because I panicked when I saw new hair growing away from some locs which are growing on 4B hair. Love your channel.
I needed this video thank you!!! So peaceful. I do believe I’m going to start my locs tonight! I’m almost 40, tired of doing my hair, I’d rather have short hair but I’ve prayed for it to grow and for God to help me take better care of it and appreciate it bc it is my crown! What you said kind of rung the bell in my head…. I’ve thought about starting locs several times but to hear you say what you said about locs being effortless and you let go and let your hair do it’s own thing….my sign. Stop trying to keep your hair the way it was in the past. It’s a new beginning! Evolve on the outside as well as the inside! I’m excited!
Yeesssss thank you for your comment! One of the main reasons I locd my hair is because I was tired of doing it also, sometimes I feel our hair doesn’t want to be “forced” into certain styles anymore, it just wants to do its own thing. So glad the video resonated with you! It’s refreshing to have read your response and blessings to you on your loc journey! 🙏🏾❤️
Same here!! My hair has so much body when the roots aren’t twisted up, I decided to just stop retwisting and start loving my hair just the way it looks ❤️
i love my semi's!!! they are unique to me and only me, the roots are healthy and i don't put all that stress on my scalp from re twist every month. i just get my hair cultivated once a year and just separate them how i see fit rest of the way
I’ve been most definitely considering locs but the thing that stopping me is that I used to get my hair relaxed when I was younger, and I want them to be nice and full. I kinda want a lot also. Another reason why I haven’t gotten them yet is because where I’m at there’s not many people that does dreads and I don’t want to do them myself.
I'm sure there are probably more people in your area who do them, possibly not in beauty salons but maybe independent businesses I would certainly encourage you to continue your search.
Don’t like doing or getting my hair done.. so I have been on off of semi -free form but now I’m staying and when I do decide to retwist or whatever I’m doing my own to save some money
I personally always questioned dreads because of the type of maintenance. It doesn't seem manageable over long periods of time because of the twisting. A lot of people be thinning out.
My 5 yr old daughter has semi free form locs as well, and she loves them!. She really gets bothered when it's time for maintenance. I do my best not to bother her hair so much. I retwist about every 6 wks but I have to do the most to keep her new growth twisted because her texture is super kinky. This style suits her personality well. There is no right or wrong way to sport locs. I get spammed with retwist vids everyday on IG and I'm over it. 😒
Omg I love u❤️ I have started to call my locs lifelines & I also believe my hair is a representation of my spiritual being. I can’t stand when I go once a month because I don’t like the uniformed look. I just don’t enjoy separating my locs. I do believe that I should find a way to balance that feeling because as Of now I have 83 locs & I started out with high top locs. I am growing the rest of my hair back out tho but I love having lots of locs but not sister locs.
I love you too! ♥️ I love the idea of calling your locs lifelines because that is really true to many people with locs. I do believe a large part of the journey is finding that balance in between what you want and what your locs want 🤔
@@holisticflo so true. I’m 5 months in & I wanted the two strand twist method because of the beauty aspect of them. I do believe I can have the best of both worlds. I am however afraid of completely switching over because I am gaining so much spiritual wisdom that if I switch to the two strand method it will hinder my spiritual journey.
I think that's normal, especially with semi-Freeform. I started my locs with very crisp parts and now almost 2 years later, the love do what they want and i think they're better because of it
Your hair is beautiful😍 I have starter locs. What do you generally use to moisturize your hair? I’ve been using Water and Aloe Vera Juice. Sometimes I put some burdock root tea in my spray bottle and spray it all over especially my scalp.
@@bellebottoms4861 I really like it! My hair is already soft because I have fine textured hair. It does feel a-lot stronger since I’ve been using it. My hair breaks off easily and I have a scalp issue where it flares up and flake. It’s really been helping clear it up.
Thank you for your comment and compliment! I generally only use rose water. That’s the only product I currently use on my hair and it seems to do the trick. I have personally heard of using tea on your locs but sounds good! I may try it in the future
@@holisticflo No problem and that’s good! I was thinking about trying the rose water. But yes, Burdock is really good for you internally and externally.
I have a fro my hair is about to my nose.I want semi free forms . How do I get started , do I just get my hair twisted down to the roots and let the roots grow out from there?
I recommend starting with two-strand twists. The first 4-6 months, I recommend re-twisting when needed and have it spread out, then start growing out your locs near the roots and do light maintenance and separate the roots
I'm three weeks and a day with my semi freeform locs I got the comb coils Feb 25th of this year and my head was itching so bad I had to wash it thank God it was still locked 🔐 but I want to wait like a month in half to retwist again and see my growth from there any tips and advice
Hi congrats on starting your loc journey last month! I would just be aware of your roots tangling in the first few months. You just want to make sure your hair is separated at the root so it doesnt get matted up
That’s a great question. I work out regularly as well but my scalp has never been very dandruff-prone so the only product I use when it gets itchy is rose water and/or aloe on my scalp to soothe the itch. I definitely recomend @TPLocks channel he has some great tips for reducing dandruff. He doesnt have semi-freeform locs but his info still applies
Great question. The answer certainly differs from person to person. The only product I use on my scalp is rose water. I rarely ever suffer from itchy scalp or dandruff, but when I do, I spray my locs and scalp with rosewater from the brand Fashion Dreadz
Most likely not, after a few month of not retwisting, the hair starts to loc up by itself. The roots will probably get puffy, but eventually your hair will get used to it
