The "inside job" line demonstrated that the character could absolutely kill if you can figure out how to segue classic things this type of character says into an otherwise unrelated conversation.
Sounds like how someone would explain their "Alien Abduction" from in front of their mobile home on the 7 O'clock news with a 70's monte carlo on cinder blocks without tires on it "parked" in their driveway.
