"I'm willing to take the risks to get myself back up here. But don't deny us access."
Truer words have not been spoken.
Nobody is denying access as near as I can tell from what he posted as you can still walk if you want to work, but spending money and manhours to destroy the access that is already there is unacceptable.
Morning. Some of us old guys have been fighting access issues through the BCWF for decades. The push to shut down the backcountry to all recreational use has absolutely been ramping up in the last few years. If one plays the time honored game of "follow the money" one can see some patterns developing. Stay well and let's keep fighting this for our kids' sake.
Agreed.
Yes! It’s the same bunch that caused all castle, Crowsnest and southern Alberta trails to be lost to us!
The best defense is a good offence. Consider lobbying for new trails to be opened up (if you aren't already), rather than only fighting a rear guard.
Shove it up their ass. Start making side by side overland rigs. They can never stop you.
AMEN!!!
I showed my 80 year old dad who was born in paonia co. In his young adult life he worked on a cattle ranch mending fence. He would ride buckboard wagons mending fence for three weeks at a time up in the mountains. When he saw the scenery. His words were AWESOME it takes my breath away. God created all this for us to enjoy. It's amazing.
Thanks again for exploring for us who can't at this time.
I may never make it to Canada to see this beautiful place , but I signed and donated. I hope they leave it open for all of y'all to enjoy and maybe one day I can make the trip there to see it. Good luck to y'all and God Bless !
Shaun gets the shots. I'm heading to that area as quick as I can.
Signed the petition and saw the reason they gave for the closure. Honestly, I trust nothing that comes from a bureaucrats mouth. I hope that there is a way to keep this area open, they have taken far to much access from us already. Like many others, exploring the great outdoors is how I keep my sanity. Best if luck to all of our northern neighbors and here's hoping I am able to make it there soon.
Is that Mountain Mike? Another awesome video ... I signed the petition. We often say, as we see cars pass by on a highway below, "They have no idea what's right beside them." If it is environmentalist wanting to close it down, probably 99.9% don't even know where it is, and would never go there. We need this... why can't we go out and enjoy such places. We have to go there to know that it's there and needs to be preserved ... it should be preserved and left open so we can go and enjoy it. As long as we stick to the trail, it will be fine ... and if we are lucky, we get to see the Caribou.
Exactly how many people take the time to explore this area? I mean I see closing off access if too many people ruined the area but that is clearly not happening. Sad to see this happen all over our public lands here in Canada and the U.S.
Signed for myself and my GF did as well. That place looks more epic than any of the mountain-scapes I've ever laid my 4 wheels or 2 feet on. Great work here Shaun!
amazing work and content again Shaun, you and Mike just might be 2 of the last and luckiest people in that area. a few weeks ago i dug out some pics i took of my first trip to the Kootenays in 1980 , yup 41 yrs ago this past July and they were some beautiful sites and lakes and mountains and the best part was the people were so darn friendly, what awesome memories came flooding back to me, 20 yes old a new car ,money and 6 weeks off work, it just didn't get any better, the views you just shared today were far more beautiful than i saw back in 1980, then the roads were awash with logging trucks and mining equipment being moved to and from the area, but where you and mike were today took my breath away, never mind your incredible drone shots, your always on point with your editing also , the only reason they are truly closing those roads to public is not the environmentalist groups , its the mining companies that will go in there and find a vein of silver and just destroy the area, like one said its the money trail, it is getting harder to find places like this here in Canada and it sucks i hate to say, thx so much for sharing this today. ❤️ Petition signed
Huh? You say in one breath how great it was to have access when mining and logging companies were in the area. Now, you say BC is locking it up for mining companies.
It's like the forests in the US. The gummint is making all wild areas useless. They're locking us peons out of our lands.
Mike is absolutely right about this. I love the area and we need to keep places like this open. It's a shame to see places closed.
I'm not from the area but had a chance to explore up there last year in my LJ. Unbelievable scenery. It's a real shame that the access can be cut off. I signed the petition.
"I don't know how well this translates onto the camera right now..." --- well. It translates very well. What an incredible place.
Every single one of us is insanely jealous of your adventures, what an epic place! Thank you for bringing us along Shaun 👍
Kept expecting Gandalf and the boys to charge down the hills
Signed the petition. You guys should go back again this year to keep up the support.
Go back again to support this amazing place! Still one of my favorite videos of yours
You make some of the best 4x4 videos on RUclips. Thanks for all the work you put in to them and thanks for taking the time to help protect an area like this!
Thanks 👍
Actually I just shared it to my FB page. My son has mobility issues and area closures like this make it harder for him to enjoy camping. In the last year we bought a JKU and a rooftop tent and have been exploring like crazy men. We live just south of Bellingham in Sedro Woolley Washington and we have seen a few areas closed over the years.
That's a beautiful area in its own right. My in-laws lived there until they passed. Highway 20 across the top of Washington is a beautiful drive. We're over in the Idaho panhandle about 30 minutes south of Sandpoint.
That has always been my argument for leaving areas open for vehicle access, however some people could care less.
As someone trying to go on exploring trips like these in Colombia, I sympathize extremely with the feeling of trails getting closed. Here it's not just companies or government, it's simply people that have illegal crops (mostly potatoes and high-altitude crops) that don't want strangers going by their (illegal) business. It's so infuriating to find locked gates on public roads. Hope you guys manage to keep access to that gem of a landscape, it's so epic.
I couldn’t go skiing at my favorite backcountry mountain this year due to at first fire danger…..with 5 feet of snow on the ground. Then they closed the entire forest to assess if it was safe for hikers after a fire touched a small corner of the forest from the summer before. It was closed for 7 months to say yes the green areas didn’t get burned. The push to close the forests and mountains for all recreation disguised as safety is definitely increasing and gaining steam.
Agenda 2030, the UN , and our leaders are who we can thank for this crap . It's public land not their's but they are continually doing whatever they want as if it were their land not ours. We need to get rid of the people who think it is their right to steal from us. Whether it is our rights , our access to public land or our being able to own or do things. Their taking these away is theft and it needs to be stopped at any cost .
@@ICE69ROG It's not enough for environmentalist groups to limit access to motorized vehicles. It started with restricted access, but now they don't want us there at all. These so-called environmental groups have lots of money, and they are buying up larges pieces of private land in the western portions of Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Washington. Once they own the land, they're taking back (rescinding) the public access trials that connect with state/federally owned land ... essentially denying access by breaking up the trails. Where it will end is anyone's guess.
@@actionsportster7686 that is against the the law and the constitution . We are guaranteed access to public lands , it's called right of way I believe. Whether it is federal land or state land it does not matter, it is public land. The government holds it in trust for us, it is our land. Legally nobody can block our access to it. It doesn't matter if they own everything for miles around it , they have to allow a " right of way " so that we can access the public land . I for one am tired of their bullshit it and if need be we need to force them to allow us our "right of way".
You lit a Beacon in a lot of Souls with this one!
Drove right on by the entrance to this paradise this past June, had no idea……. Thank-You for sharing your Story with us. The Dirty and Dangerous crew are an amazing band of stewards for our beautiful PUBLIC backcountry! Strength in numbers.
One of your best vids! That area is truly a treasure. Sign the petition!
As I get older and less able to carry a backpack I see that trails like this are the only ways people with mobility issues can get to enjoy backcountry areas.
Most "environmentalist" don't care about preserving these beautiful places it's about control. We are losing trails and access to public lands 😢. If they cared they would protect access to these places. Thank you for sharing this I love it!
We explored some awesome abandoned mines in the Silver Cup area!
Very cool. I've been checking out some of your adventures.
Did you find gold?
Frank follows the story till now! 🤯
Sharon probably got him to watch.
@@TheStoryTillNow By the way, I lived in Alaska for 37 years, neither the Alaska pipeline or traffic on the Haul road or any other road in Alaska interfered with caribou migration routes or interfered with the caribou at all. The bureaucrats are just using the caribou as an excuse to close the area. Ask them to prove to you how keeping that road open interferes with the caribou in any way, they can look at the Alaska studies...
Good luck guys, that place looks amazing! Here in Colorado my county Summit has closed about 80% of my four wheel trails we once enjoyed. Most surrounding areas are doing the same. The trails that are still open are over used and crowded on weekends. I don't go wheeling nearly as much, now I MTB to get away and enjoy the mountains. Every year more and more MTB trails open but I have never seen or heard of a new four wheel trail opening. It makes me and my family sad because of all the places we will never get to see again. Just like you guys our roads are from the mining days and just because they put a gate up doesn't mean the road will disappear. Let us enjoy OUR lands!
Signed. You know it’s serious when Shaun posts the name of a trail he’s running!
Well, if they remove the road the name won't matter. I figure it's worth a shot to try and help.
Great video!!! Shared it to the group to get more petition signatures!
Absolutely your best video to date... I hope your access remains open for you and others to admire and enjoy for years to come.
I just signed to petition hopefully you guys can inspire people to keep this open for future generations. People we never want to protect the environment if they can't get out and experience it themselves. These environmentalists groups fail to realize that the people that care about these kinds of places are the ones that get out there and enjoy them.
It isn't about that. I lived in Germany back when the wall fell and communism was at it's lowest point in Europe. The socialist/communist party in Germany lost a lot of ground support. So they decided to change their tactics. They went Green party. They admitted they could get exactly what they wanted by going environmentalist. And people fell for it. So irritating.
Thank You! That must be the Most Beautiful place I’ve ever seen!! I Pray 🙏🏻 they do not close it….
The views on this trip were INCREDIBLE!! Thank you for sharing your adventure. As always, great video!!
Well done. "To get out and get my sanity" hits home. Thanks for sharing and love your content! Watching your adventures played a huge role in my decision to purchase a jeep, outfit it, and start my own adventures locating old war era & carriage roads in VT!
With over 120k views, hopefully more people sign this petition. I just signed it. Wonderful video and thanks for bringing this knowledge to everyone.
On e again this is so amazing. I signed the petition in hopes that others will be able to enjoy these beautiful sites for years to come. Thanks for your dedication to the overland community’s. Happy Trials!
I signed the petition and you should too!! Why close this trails? If the trails are closed and nobody can see where they take you, nobody would care what happens to this areas, but if you know what's behing there you'll learn to protect the land. The government doesn't need to "protect" us against everything, life has risks and not taking a risk in life is the biggest risk of them all. Shawn you and the other folks are doing an awesome job sharing your country with us and I am very thankful that at the very least I get to see it on my screen.
I may live in a different country, but I feel your pain of being denied this beauty. I signed your petition. ❤️
This could be the best video you have ever made. Great Work!
Wow, thanks!
Huge fan of your work! Mike's sentiments at the end struck a chord with me, couldn't have better conveyed the feeling of being out there.
I spent my youth hiking in the Cascade Mountains of the Pacific Northwest with my grandparents. Your video brought me to tears with the stunning beauty that I haven't experienced in decades. Hopefully the road stays open so that I might be able to visit that glorious spectacle and see it with my own eyes. Thank you.
Awesome video!! Thanks for bringing awareness to this possible closure, hopefully we can keep access open!!
Signed and shared from California. We need to keep places like this open for all.
I wondered when this video was coming, Alberta is even worse just down a normal road in the mountains you will pass dozens of signs and blocked off roads
Love watching your videos and this is probably one of my favourite so far! Can't wait to come back to BC to explore more of those amazing trails!
Petition is signed and donated to!!
I don't spend much time on RUclips, but I'm glad I committed to watching your videos recently. Thanks for sharing this one. The info you gathered to add to the adventure really built the story and created an invested feel while watching. The scene at 9:15 was emotional. I hope to get out to your area eventually and explore this terrain.
I live in the northwest corner of Missouri and I never knew there were places like that. I know that I will never get to see such beautiful places like this. So thank you for your time and work filming and editing so I can see one of the most beautiful places on earth! Thank you so much!!
Signed and commented! I may never get to drive this beautiful trail in my lifetime, but places of this beauty should be left for all to enjoy... especially if the roads are already there!!! Some of the most Epic footage Ive seen, thanks for taking us along!!! Hope I could help even just a little. Cheers from Colorado!
Places like this are my refuge... My place of sanity... My grounds for centering... My detox from urban and societal decay... They are where we find and challenge ourselves... Our connection to what once was... Our most poignant reminders of the true daily struggle for survival that mankind faced for most of our history... A frame of reference for the meaninglessness of much of our turmoil. Untouched, rugged places like this mean nothing if they can't be experienced by mankind. How can we hope to stay in touch with what makes us human when we remove access to these wild places that shaped us into the species that we are?
Signed and donated! I also shared this to every FB Jeep, 4x4, and over land group that I belong to. Thank you for sharing this. Fingers crossed.
The drone shot at 4:58 is top 2 or 3 things I have ever seen on RUclips (or anywhere for that matter). I teared up right with Sean at the 9:48 mark or so. No words…
Best overlanding youtube channel by far. Keep up the great work. Signed the petition!
Shaun I'm speechless on the views... simply amazing !!! Tell me you tracked your route, this is a place I would come from Alberta to go see in a heart beat!! I guess another question would be how do we know if the petition worked? Thanks for the great videos bud !!! This is one of my top ones you've done!!
Amazing video as always. I have signed and shared this aswell thank you for not only the video. But helping to fight this 👍👍
This is the first time I didn't want a video to end. It's so beautiful up there and I'll never get to see it in person so I hope you go back someday and take us along with you again. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video.
SPEAK UP OR SHUT UP!!!
This has to be my favourite episode yet. You are so lucky to be one of a handful of people that have actually gotten a chance to experience this piece of Canadian paradise! I really hope the petition slows the roll on the shut down.
At 9:23 minutes in , those mountains in the distance. I’m sorry, but you can’t tell me that science is behind this. When my time on earth is through, I hope heaven looks like those mountains. Spectacular video Shawn.
Awesome vid Shaun. Signed the petition, let's hope we can keep places like this open!
I have to comment that your videos are so relaxing and fulfilling. I am in California where the forests are closed due to fire danger; but I rely on them to recharge and get my work done. Your videos are a big help in letting me experience the wonder of the mountains and forests, and help me refill my tanks.
You narrate the videos so professionally... I would love to be there to experience all that beautiful scenery.
Wow, thank you!
Outstanding Views!! Thanks for taking me along on your adventure!! Kept up the Outstanding Video's!!
Fantastic video. Absolutely stunning scenery. Thank you for showing it to the world.
My God! What beautiful country, gorgeous Canadian Rockies; and with a challenging shelf road(s) it two to get you there!
I am all for protecting the environment, but to close these mountains to the “human soul”, that would be a travesty !
Thank you for your dedication in film to bring us all the AWESOME VIDEOS. GREAT STORY WORK. YOU HAVE THE ABSOLUTE BEST CHANNEL ON RUclips as far as 4x4s etc... goes. ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO YOU DROPPING A NEW VIDEO SO WE CAN COME ALONG ON THE ADVENTURE. AGAIN YOUR WORK IS MUCH APPRECIATED.
Incredible scenery, awesome instrumentals(music) A1.video quality, great 4x4 content, is what makes this channel one of the TRULY BEST OF IT'S KIND! keep up the good work bro!!!
It's too beautiful of an area to close the road and keep people from seeing it again.
Wow, that place is EPIC, you had a solid day of exploring as well being sunny and everything...
Spectacular scenery! Wow!
We have the same issues here in Australia - closure of areas to ‘protect’ them.
That place is AWESOME and amazing.
Thanks for sharing it takes my breath away from video.
I can't imagine actually being there
I watched this video in total amazement! Wow!! The footage of these mountains are majestic! Breathtaking!
And as usual, the Bacon looked great ! 👍🥓
I’m not sure if I sign the petition that it will help since I’m a US citizen. However, just a thought from the country to the south of you. Blocked and unmaintained forest roads cause delays in reaching lightning strike fires allowing the fires to get a real foothold. The loss of beautiful timberland does not benefit anyone. Wishing your firefighters safety. Hoping the smoke isn’t to bad where you live.
I was just in Kaslo looking for things to do...if I'd known this place was so close I definitely would have checked it out. Great video, thanks for filming your adventures.
The views and the music were incredible. This nothing like being out exploring with a buddy. Unbelievable they are going to take away access
very beautiful moutains!!!!! I am wholeheartedly with you to keep this road open, hello from France ,👏👍🙌
Man BC is epic. And an overland channel that respects, loves, and honors nature. I so appreciate that. It's so important we keep these places open, yet treat them with deep respect and appreciation. We need to slow down and treat mother nature right so we're not locked out of these places. It's happening in the US at an alarming rate, what with the popularity of overlanding and van life.
P.S. man my one Achilles heel in off road driving.....shelf roads. My vertigo kicks in hard-core. Ugh lol.
Excellent drone work. Those mountaintops look amazing. Brave trip..right on.
Dude I love your videos so much !! Don’t ever stop
Thanks for this AWESOME video. I was choked up witnessing, through your camera work, the awe-inspiring vistas of mountains I didn't know existed there. I always imagined they were there, but your exploration and drone camera work moved me beyond words. So thank you, again. The beauty was visible even through a camera and i can only imagine what it's like to be there in person. Keep up the good work. I will sign and cross my fingers, so that even if I don't make it there, explorers like yourselves can return.
Wow! Truly epic scenery! Ashame they want to take it away! Great video yet again!
The video was one of the best I've ever watched, great job on drone footage and editing!
Absolutely incredible views. BC is breathtaking. Definitely added to my bucket list. Thanks, Sean.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The beauty of that video put tears in my eyes I'm glad they're still land out there free and wild to explore do what you can to keep it open and safe
I live in the UK.
I have tears in my eyes and my heart aches.
Just how beautiful this place is, I have no words to describe. If there was a way to live here or just to exist it would surely be worth the hardship. What would you give to pass your days in such a wonderful place that is surely so close to heaven that you feel you could stand on a mountain peak and reach out a hand to touch it.
It's a comfort knowing that despite all of man's machinations and devices, he will never be able to change the bones of the earth and these places will exist and grow old long after we have turned to dust and blown away on the wind.
We're constantly fighting the same thing here in the US. Government is totally out of control when it comes to overreach of our public lands. Keep up the good fight.
So happy this didn’t close as scheduled. Love this place
Someone needs to make a gold mine claim up there and argue it that way. Denying access to prospecting is a big no no. It’s considered essential travel.
There are claims up there already.
Signed the petition. I hope access to this area can be preserved.
Vos vidéos 4x4 sont une merveille! Un régal à chaque visionnage, bravo!
My pop has a gold claim here on the Island. It would be a super shitty thing if we were denied access to an area we pay a lot of money to have. Mineral claims are not free, they are paid for by the people who seek those minerals.. IF we pay or have paid to access those minerals, then the government has no rights in removing our access to them.
Wow !!! Stunning. Beautifully shot video, absolutely stunning road, drive and area.
As a Wildlife Crime Ranger in the UK with family in BC, I agree with you completely, don't remove access to this area by destroying something that been there so long with lots of history too. By responsible use as you did there no reason to shut this area off. I really hope you are successful at keeping this open. Such beauty should be shared. 👍Paul. UK
What a beautiful trail, it’s very sad they are trying to close this. Great video as always, I loved the epic choir music in this!
Glad you enjoyed it
I have signed and shared this petition.
Stunningly beautiful ❤️
UNREAL work guys, those drone shots! You went above and beyond on this and I pray they don't close the road!!! Went to Mt. Robinson back in the 70's and fell in love with BC. In these times of unrest we could use some time up there to cleanse the soul. I hate cities...
Man i get your struggle. I live in north Italy, we have awesome mountains with awesome trails, and all of them are closed for motorized vehicles.
That sucks.
Yes, it does, a motorized vehicle allows the disabled to enjoy life also.
So walk.
I mean the place is just stunningly beautiful, signed the petition as well
An amazing part of the world. Really appreciate you bringing some more eyes to this issue and fighting the good fight!
This place is a hidden jewel! I signed the petition and hope to get over there one day to enjoy those amazing views and fresh air!
What a wonderful episode mate! You did it again, thanks for sharing and please keep the good work
What an introductory vid to a new channel for me! I don’t think I’ve seen so well a put together piece! Very effective i signed the petition! I’m an old off-roader from way back.. 😊 thank you guy!
Thanks Bill!
Thanks to your video, I signed the petition. I may not live in BC, but I believe in having access for all public lands for many generations to explore and cherish. Thank you for this awesome video!
The scenery is absolutely stunning.
Man this place looks incredible!! I really need to go check this out on my dual sport !!
