These moments and engagements make me proud to pay taxes with which to support our military personnel in combat. Never should they have to beg, plead and scream for ammunition or food like the Russians have been. Never should they have to worry about getting the support they require when things hit the fan. Our responses to attacks should always be fierce, overwhelming and unforgiving such as this engagement was.

You know how Ivans are with their fetish for shiny things. Bling is bling - doesn't matter if it's given for actual valor, simply surviving, or raping women, murdering children and stealing toilet seats. It is not the deed that matters, but the degree of one's obedience in carrying it out that determines how much bling a Russian soldier is eligible to. The more immoral and reprehensible the order, the higher the award to those who carry it out unflinchingly.
For senior officers, simply growing old will suffice - regularly awarded medals and the accompanying bragging rights are another way of securing their political loyalty along with the informal right to dip one's fingers into the military coffers.
The good news is that as long as they keep fighting like they currently are, NATO countries have little to worry about.

I believe the US command asked the Russian command if it was them to which they half truthfully said "no" thought knowing it was Wagner mercenaries.
The Wagner mercenaries believed they were attacking and taking ground from ISIS. Wagner and US command was not in direct contact.
That's why they were completely bewildered and had no idea what was going on/where fire was coming from.

Allied countries seem to use Yankee or Yank endearingly. Hostile countries are maybe using it as a derogatory term. But thats a bit silly because we obviously like it. We named a baseball team the Yankees. The term comes from British soldiers during the revolutionary war. It was undoubtably derogatory when first used in 1775. But because it painted American colonists as wild, insubordinate and crazy, we liked it.

  • @Robertz1986

On a side note, Americans have been called Yankees by many countries since the 1700s at least. It was obvious that the Chinese would not only use our technologies for mass production, but that they’d also build up their military. 2:35 is a javelin anti-tank system, I think, Ms. The round goes up and then straight down on top of a tank, hitting it where the least armour is. Not sure, I was a basic rifleman in the USMC, so that system was part of weapons company.

I think the device at 2:35 is something with a zoom lense it's being used as a telescope to see things which are far away. I'll bet it has infrared as well so it could highlight vehicle engines. I'm really not sure and I'm guessing; but it has to be something like this.
I imagine it will also tell how far away something is. It's important to know if something is 1000 meters away or if it's 3000. I bet it has a laser and it can gauge distance. The man will communicate this to the artillery and to the helicopters and they will fire on the spot which the device suggests.

Yankee is a British term for Americans. It is a derogatory term and most British people I know believe it is the same as what they would call a wanker today. Must be a weird British thing. Anyhow, we embrace those who like to call us names and gladly accept the term because it is so much more fun to see the shock in our enemies' eyes when we do.

Call us Yankees, call us Devil Dogs, but don't try to fight us. Or do and learn why we like to be called names, it makes us laugh when people give us the excuse to fight back when shot at or attacked somehow. Haha

What isn’t said in this video is that the US was well aware that the Russians and Syrians were on their way to that oil field and repeatedly attempted negotiations with the [supposed] mercenary Russian leadership to get them to stop. _The US military waited until the Russian-Syrian group began the bombardment_ before calling again to try to find out if the Russian military was behind the mercenaries and to once again tell them to desist. So, even though those in charge of Syrian televised news channels called the attack “outrageous,” the facts show that they stupidly went ahead to grab that refinery. *Evil, dishonest, DEAD.*

Many countries call Americans yankees because in the American civil war the north were called yankees (who won the war). the south were called rebels (who lost the war) so In actuality calling all Americans yankees is actually an insult to the southern part of our country.

@Atheos B. Sapien I guess it like calling someone from England a brit ina way

    • @elecjack1
      @elecjack1 Год назад +8

It long predates the Civil War. The British referred to the colonists as yankees and it was meant as an insult back then. The British still call Americans yanks or yankees but it has since become more of a friendly banter similar to Americans calling them limeys (which also used to be meant as an insult). The confederates used the term yankees for the union most likely as an attempt to separate themselves even further from the north as their goal was seceding from the union as it was a separation of mindset dating back since the founding states were still colonies between the north and the south and it was never resolved and only got worse leading to the Civil War.
I don't think the Russian Wagner group cared whether those in the U.S. military they were referring to as yankees were from the north or the south nor is the Civil War likely taught much outside of the U.S. other than basic mentioning. So, to any country who uses the term yankees outside of the U.S. in reference to them, it referred to any American from the U.S. based on the original usage of the term by the British.
The only reason for someone from the south to be insulted by the term being used on them is that the Civil War lives in their minds more so than the Revolutionary War in which case they should rethink that. In the Revolutionary War, all the colonies were yankees and all of those who fought were seen as rebels to the British.
