I love my Garmin DEZL OTR 1000. I mounted mine at the top of the windshield. On the Rexing, the V1 Pro has GPS built in without adding anything.
💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 I'm interested you l like you +1(314)701-8983 textme over there that's my WhatsApp number baby
True it is a good option I actually had it briefly and then I returned it because my camera would keep switching positions since it was movable around all directions I guess the unit I had just wouldn’t hold it in place very well so I went to the one that only moves up and down in that state and place better for me
Never mount to top of windshield, has further to fall and break plus obstruction of view.always mount bottom of windshield near dash.
@@sodbuster518able I mount to the top center of the windshield. It’s been there three years, in three different kind of trucks. Technically, by the new guidance, safety equipment is supposed to be in the upper part of the windshield. It doesn’t obstruct because it is over the company outside facing camera and truck lane keep assist camera. My Garmin has never fallen.
Thanks for your video driver. My rand mcnally 720 took a crap after 8yrs. I've been searching for something better, I now found what I want thanks to your reviews.
Hey clutch. Just watched your video. Basically the same with the 700 but of course smaller scale. I don’t have icons for apps. Just displays in grid form. But this is my 1st garmin and can’t wait for next video to learn more tips. Already learned a lot from this video. Lol. Thanks
I'm looking forward to your FULL review. I'm almost half way on points. Trying to be patient.
Very funny yes that’s the hard part is waiting.
The 780 you can drag those icons as well..
That I did not know good to know thank you
I got the BlackVue 900 for both my car and truck. Best dashcam ever. I love BlackVue
I’ll look into that one. Thanks
@@ClutchTrucker it's expensive. The 900 is $700. My old dashcam I paid for $250-300. I think it was called 570 or something. It's on their website. It records for 5 minutes. No screen on the dashcam for distraction. Pull up on your phone to see video. Check it out, you might like it.
Anyways, my break is over. 695 miles to get home for my son's first Christmas. Hopefully donner pass on 80 will be cleared and I'm not in that storm tomorrow 😭
I wish u the best. Donner pass is no joke!
@@ClutchTrucker thank you. I'm use to it. 4 years local driving from Fairfield to Reno everyday. Now I started working with HFC in Iowa, so new truck, different handling in the snow. Merry Christmas and drive safe.
Know what u mean. I know Elk mountain on 80 very well.
Congrats 🎉 glad to see u finally got it know u have been waiting for awhile
I bought one the OTR 1000, I get it tomorrow, I can wait, and can’t wait to see your views on yours.
Good upgrade. I used a Garmin (for auto) in my semi years ago. Would not recommend it as no bridge heights shown. This 1000 is worlds better and much easier to actually see.
Very useful video for my next Garmin purchase. Regards from tiny Bulgaria.
New subscriber in the last week. I have only used Garmin, friends that have their own aircraft, only use Garmin. Only serious ones for me. Brother in-law had Rand McNally when he did cross border runs. Like you, he switched to Garmin at the end. Tomtom has a trucker GPS?? No information on that one.
Best wishes all, stay safe.
My buddy tried the Tom Tom trucker gps, and had nothing good to say about it
Simple and user friendly. Enjoy
Great review. Looking forward to your next review as you put it to use. I have a 785 and called Garmin about it’s choice of routes. Nothing can be done about the fact that it will run you on country roads instead of a 4 lane highway to get some places. Would be nice if you can drag the route to make it go on routes you choose.
You essentially can. It’s called “shaping “. I’ll go into it on the full review. Worked on my 780
Learn something new every day. I called Garmin and they didn’t know. Looking forward to your next video on this.
May seem dumb but I really like that rand McNally shows your eta date and time zone. That’s the one big zonk that keeps me away from Garmin if they would add eta date even I’d probably switch to it
We used our 1000 driving from San Jose, CA to Weatherford, TX. I wish it coult display the current time in the upper right hand corner of the map display.
Ivan put the current time in many of the buttons
Enjoy a lot your videos,I never had a garmin gps, thank you for the info
Nice navigation aid.
I like that you said navigation aid because you are absolutely correct it should not be the only thing you use we should still use our brains in our maps thanks for pointing that out great comment
WOW 😳 WOW 😳 LOVE THE GARMIN 1000 I HAVE THE 780
So far it’s pretty much everything I love about the 780 but bigger and easier to use and better features
You love Garmin GPS. PS ME TOO I HAVE the Nuvi camera dash camera is great.
Hard to have restraint in there😂
Thanks for the the unboxing. Definitely an upgrade to the 780 which I have and which I’ll probably upgrade to the 1000 now which I was skeptical to do .
So far I’m impressed
Congratulations enjoy I hope u like it
I used to buy windshields for my COEs by the dozen cause we went thru em like mad.. especially during Wyoming construction season!!!
From your unboxing the 1,000 comes with more and better mounts than the 780 only comes with the window - mount very small
Yeah I’m glad it has those options like I showed in the video if I weren’t using it sitting on a desk shelf I will try one of the other options because I found no suction cup mount no matter who makes it will stay on the window very well
I Like my Garmin OTR700 but this one is looks really awesome
Can’t beat the size!
I still have dzl780 and working just fine for the past 4 years and I keep it up to date of course
7 inches just enough for me and I use phone app to send address way better than type it
I don’t know about otr1000 if can do that but sure got some new futures
So the only thing that’s different between my 800dzl and the 1000 is the two inches. But software is the same I assume
Yes. The 700 uses different software. Not as many features
@@ClutchTrucker Would have been great if those different features/software would of been highlighted before I purchased the 700, which I now have to exchange. I literally looked everywhere to see if there was a difference but couldn't find any. I actually prefer the 7" size.
Looks awesome!
Awesome video just subscribed 👍
FYI if you can not find an address or intersection on your OTR this is what you do, go to google map on your phone find address or intersection, pin exactly where you want to be on the map if its on intersection, for address just leave it as is if all info is correct , tap share, you will be redirect to a bunch of app included the Garmin drive tap on Garmin drive tap Go the OTR 7000 8000 or 1000 will take you to the exact spot where you drop that pin
Great info I’ll have to try that thank you
@@ClutchTrucker you can also type the address directly into the Garmin drive app window which is so much easier, and top go, within seconds it will be on your navigation screen
780 also has the browser as well
Yes I think it does I was just pointing out that I would probably use it on the OTR 1000 because of the nice big screen as opposed to switching up my phone
Was trying to say squinting at my phone
Hi what’s different between Garmin Dezl Otr 1000 VS LGV 1000 thank u
Not sure what the LGV 1000 is
Is it possible to use the suction cup to put it on the dash?
Possibly. I just let it test on my dash shelf so I don’t have to worry about it falling
How do I log my 30min break? I Go To Off Duty For 30mins and add the note but it still does not recognize it.
Haven’t used the Garmin to do ELogs, so I’m sorry. I don’t have that answer for you
I'm trying to decide if I should get the garmin 785 version with the dash cam or the otr 800
I’ve said in previous videos that Garmin can’t seem to make a dash cam that lasts more than six months. I’ve had a combo unit before and it failed within six months. Go with the otr 800, then buy a Rexing dash cam from Amazon or Best Buy
Love the information. The 2 things I am currently looking for is a dash cam and a GPS. I would subscribe to this video if I wasn't subscribed already.
Like I said in the video Garman is good at GPS is but it’s terrible - cams I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with Garmin dash cams like I also said in the video try the Rexing at least it’s lasted and at least it’s a lot cheaper
Awesome video’s, but question on OTR 1000, I drive a flat bed truck , and I don’t need truck routes, can you use this one for just car routes too?
Yes, you can select truck/trailer, straight truck, bus, or car
Thank you very nice
I've often thought clear 3m Scotchgard film on the windshield would be helpful for chips?
I like that that idea. NASCAR windshields have a peel off layer. That would be nice
How about the DOT . is it legal to put it on windshield . Thank you
In my case with my big hood, all it does is block the view of my hood. So it just depends on your situation
Awesome video you sound like a kid in a candy store.
Well you know as adults our candy is tools and truck stuff right
Hey clutch just bought this awesome Dezl1000 thanks to your review! My question is, does the gps part need wifi to be able to work and route. I know it needs wifi to update, weather, web browse ,etc? Im only able to route if its connected to wifi. I do have an omnitracs from the company which does have wifi but need to obtain the wifi password from fleet manager.
Thanks
The OTR 1000 connects to your phone via Bluetooth that’s how it gets the traffic info and all of that the Wi-Fi on the unit itself is only needed for downloading updates or if you want to connect it to your phone via Wi-Fi hotspot so that you can use the web browser that’s included with the device. But like I say for a regular navigation the only thing you need to do is connected to the Garman Drive app on your phone and that way you’ll get current live traffic
@@ClutchTrucker clutch your awesome! Thanks for the info i was looking like a fool in the truck trying to figure it out! Wish they could make it more straight forward! Again thanks for your informative videos and your adventures! You and meatball stay safe out there and thanks for your response, cant wait to finally use this!
Rusty let's go!
Can you buy the otr 1000 at loves
Yrs
Yes
Just want to start off saying I really enjoyed your video since I started subscribing my question is I just started a new job driving a motor coach which of the Garman GPS that you have had would you recommend for this job. Say hi to Rusty
I probably want a smaller unit. I think you’d be very happy with the 780
Hey Clutch, I wanted a ask you a question about OTR spec. I could not find it anywhere online. Anyway, could you please check what’s RAM storage on the new DEZL. You can find it in the settings (memory). Please do not confuse it with storage/internal storage. My dezl 780 has 1gb, and that affects how quickly gps builds a route or looking for up ahead truckstops and stuff, on my dezl 780 it takes forever if the route is longer than 1k miles. Thank you
Memory shows as 1.9GB. Storage 20GB
I have found on either unit turning off trip tracking or trip history help save your internal memory and make things calculate a lot faster
@@ClutchTrucker thank you
@@ClutchTrucker Do you mean travel history toggle?
Have to disagree with your comment about garmins dashcams. Ive had the 44 (i think is the model) for well over a year now and its as good as ever.
Consider yourself lucky. It nay be in the placement on your vehicle.
This pgs have a Wi-Fi maps update in software do you know
Yes it updates over WiFi
@@ClutchTrucker thks have good day and happy new year's
Just got the OTR800. Thanks for the video really good. Can you pair the GPS, iPhone to the parrot 550 headset to work all together? I’ve tried and I have to keep disabling one to use the headset. Any help would be great! Keep up those great videos!!
Sorry I have a blue tiger, and I haven’t tried pairing to both. But I will now.
OK I just did it and it does work with my blue tiger although I had to kind of do it in a certain sequence to make it work. So you might try this with your blue parrot. When I tried to pair my blue tiger headset to the GPS when it was already paired to my phone the GPS rejected it or elite plus rejected it. So I had to turn off Bluetooth on my phone turn off Bluetooth on the GPS then turn Bluetooth on on the GPS connect my headset first of the GPS then turn Bluetooth back on on my phone and reconnected that way manually and then both stayed connected. Try that
@@ClutchTrucker thanks for much!!! I’ll try in a few hours. Also does the voice on your unit have a low volume with the volume turned all the way up?
Also in case you get questions about the 7” or 8” gps; I wouldn’t recommend the 7”. I opened the 7” and looked at the mounting stuff such as windshield mount along and the ones included with that unit are extremely cheap and they did not grip my windshield and would allow the gps to come loose. The 7” feels cheaper, in my opinion.
I looked at the 8 and it’s a completely different setup where as the 7 plugs directly into the unit, the 8” has the power connector plugging into the mounting square; similar to the 10”.
I would have loved to gone with the 10” but just couldn’t swing the extra $200. My wife is already complaining about the cost of the 8” at $599.
I have a few other questions do you mind me asking?
Yeah, I’ve already contacted Garmin. I’ll explain more when I do full review video this weekend
On the older one you could change the voice command name
Apparently that’s supposed to be coming up in a new update will see
Always love your videos Bro, but most of the times have a hard time to hear you, might want to invest in a Mic..
Thank´s for sharing!!! god bless!
Yeah. My mic on the iPhone seven isn’t the best. I’ll start saving up
Which Rexing dash cam are you using?
Hey Clutch, will it give low bridge warnings?
Yes. My old 780 always did
can we set up back up camera with this DEZL 1000?
Apparently yes, however I’ve heard the
I’ve heard the range is only 45 feet. Do it would probably only work on short box trucks, but I’m still looking into it
It was English and French.
Hmmm
Does it have a fuzz buster(radar)?
That would be an awesome feature but no it doesn’t
Big screen TV’s are everywhere.
Lol
This comment is not pertaining to this video sir. I posted recently about the hours of service compliance for omnitracs. I said that everything was working properly as it should but then I found out that it wasn't. Usually if I do a 2 Sleeper Berth it's before I've driven far. But now I found out that the second part 7 and 8 Hour split is not giving me back the time I used before the first break. It's only giving me back the time I didn't use at the end of the day which doesn't help me. I talked to my fleet owner and he's looking into it but it's a shame that these things can't get done right. Maybe it'll work if they install the Tab 4 Sleeper Berth split option. Because mine doesn't have it.
Sorry to hear that yes I’ve been hearing from lots of providers that it is not working properly even sound like you who thought it initially was it’s just sad that these companies are making money off of drivers and fleets and they can’t even get a correct
@@ClutchTrucker update on my omnitracks. After speaking with my fleet owner I believe it got fixed. Had to shut down after only driving less than 4hrs yesterday. Dropped my load off and stayed off duty, not SB, for over two hrs then drove 30 min to pu. Was there for 4hrs in SB and had to stay until I reset in order to make appointment time next day. After 7hrs, which was @ midnight got what I had left back plus what I drove. Was able to take off and easily make the appointment time 8hrs away. Thanks for all your help. Still don't know if Adverse driving is correct but will keep you up to date on that.
Awsome CT
Nice🤙
Truck navi without dachcam lol 😆 No thanks.I keep my dezl 785.
A long route,hahhaha
How to update the Internet explorer?
The app tends to keep it updated
@@ClutchTrucker I use the Internet Explorer and I get messages to update but there is no Playstore option even for RUclips same thing. It is almost like a tablet but cut short to a Garmin policy; appreciate the follow up.
My question is for anyone, is it too big where it blocks your view? We run 2018-2020 Freight liner Cascadias and im on the fence between the 800 or the 1000 cause of potential size problems. Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks
I have a huge tall hood on this Coronado, but I could see it maybe being an issue with a cascadia . I’ve owned two. If I were still in a cascadia, I’d probably go for the 800. Plus it’s $200. Cheaper
@@ClutchTrucker ok great, thats exactly what i was worried about. I think the 800 will be what i go with. Thanks for your input!
I don't see how the hell you guys drive with these huge ass GPS looking tablets on your window
Mines at the bottom of my window. All it does is block my view of my hood. Lol
@@ClutchTrucker seems like a major distraction that big tablet 🤷😂🤣 see I put my seat air almost all the way to the ground you probably sit straight up erect but the seed air maxed out lol
35 days. NOTHING but problems with this gps
Send it back
@@ClutchTrucker I contacted them. They want me to send mine back and then wait on them to send me one back. A refurbished one. I didn’t pay $800 for a refurbished one, it’s 35 days old
Stand your ground! Make them send you a new one
@@ClutchTrucker I tried. She said no. Unless I send them $699 and then when I ship mine back, they will refund me that back, whenever
Hmmmm. It’s your call then. Sometimes a refurbished unit can be better, because they got all of the kinks out. Sorry you’re having so much trouble
Am I the only one that still has a MANUAL GPS called a ROAD ATLAS?? Mines from 2007!!!!
I use both. Never rely on any one thing. A GPS is merely a tool, just like your map
I was going to look at some car parts the other day and asked the guy for directions and he said "what? Don't you have GPS?"" I said I'm old school.. which he laughed at..
