Low volume in music mode on Cardo Packtalk, problem solved

    At some point when I should listen to a podcast the I was out riding. I noticed that I couldn't hear anything in music mode the volume was way to low. I always ride with earplugs in so the volume needs to be at maximum to be able to hear when riding. In radio mode the volume was high enough so I figured out that it probable was a software problem or maybe a setting that has ben changed during an update.
    On iPhone there is a setting to protect for high levels when using earphones and that funktion needs do be changed or switch off to be able to listen to music. In this video I will show you what's solved the problem for me.
    Remember that if you use earphones to your phone when your not out riding, you probably not use earplugs so be carful not have the volume to high under those circumstances.

    Great Job! Fixed the issue after several pro's at my motorcycle shop tired to help but couldn't.

    Thanks for putting this video on here about this. My Cardo app will randomly reset it's maximum music level lower and I can then barely hear it (phone is turned all the way up and so is the Packtalk). This is exactly how I go in and fix it each time.

      Thanks for your comment, I’m glad if the video can help you. I can understand that it can be good to automatically lower the volume to protect our ears, but why just on music and not the radio. We can listen to music on the radio to. 😂 if using ordinary earphones It can be a good thing. but in the helmet, in combination with ear protection I don’t think it’s necessary. The best would have been to have it in the bluetooth setting so we could have different settings for the cardo than for other bluetooth devices 👍

      Make sure you click "save" in the top right corner of the cardo app's settings. Kinda weird they make us save it but I guess it's beneficial. I noticed OP didn't mention that (Which is totally fine, just want to make sure everyone else knows that lol)

    I had this problem before but I had fixed it before on my android phone. It was frustrating having this problem in the beginning especially when ypu ride the bike often for commuting and you wanna enjoy some music amd not hear just the road noise 😂

      I found a lot of people on internet that have that problem but I found very few people that solved the problem. That’s a pretty common that people ask for help on different forums and try different solutions but people rarely go back into the forums and tell what solved their problem. Therefore almost all forum threads contain a lot of different suggestions on what may help but very few of them tells the final solutions. 🤔😊

      I totally agree, it’s so much easier to follow a video than to read the instructions. A video mostly explains both in word and in “pictures” so I dont understand the text I can see in the video and where the video doesn’t show the text is a good complement. For example it’s hard to describe where to find a certain bolt on the bike, a video can clearly point out where that bolt sits on the bike but the text is better to give information of torque specs an dimensions. The video can contain both written text, spoken word and pictures and video clips. But than again a video without spoken word and/or text is often really hard to follow. for a electrical scheme or a drawing printed paper is best because it’s easier to follow a line with a finger or with a pencil etc.

    My microphone was deemed malfunctioning after only a few months of use. I got a replacement. The other issue I'm having with our Cardo SpiritHD pair is that, when connected to the other rider, the units seem to be constantly in transmission mode so we can both hear each other's motorcycle engine the whole time.
    The music - which I play in the background - never plays at an adequate volume level (that's because the units are transmitting the whole time and the units think that we want to speak to each other). I haven't found a solution yet.

      Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like your unit is a bad example. The best would probably to return the whole unit and get a new one. You shouldn’t have to accept those type of problem. 👍

      @@JoonesAdventuresMC Thanks! I'm probably going to hard reset both units first and see whether that fixes it. Moreover, my friend hasn't updated his unit yet to the latest firmware and that's another possibility we need to eliminate before taking the units back for replacement. They used to work fine in the beginning though (with the original firmware) and that makes me think it's a software issue.

      @@C_R_O_M________ Yes you should test to update the firmware. My units worked with the original firmware. I had no problem the first year. Next year I had some problems with reconnecting between the units after updating the firmware the volume was low on music. But that’s probably normal after updating the firmware. But other than that they have worked fine. Long battery life time and possibility to use the unit while charging the unit with power banks 👍

      We are pleased with the overall performance of these units as well. They are value for money. The range seems to have increased a bit as well after I updated mine which tells me that Cardo tries to optimize the units continuously. Of course more range means more energy consumption but, as you do, I do keep a sizeable battery bank with me. In any case I love these first world problems and we should be grateful for these products and the value they add in our lives. Cheers.

    after trying to different brands, I sadly discovered from a few days of experimenting with each that the companies would not tell me even though I told them I had a dumb phone flip phone. They are not a stand alone communicator. You ..."MUST" have a smartphone, not a dumb phone. They will not work. Why would cardo and the other company think I would keep such an expensive piece of electronics if it did not work? They did not care when I told them. No apologies, nothing, for what I went through. And the rep who recommended the one to me for a dumb phone too. Nothing. Some companies just don't care and think you will keep their non functioning electronic in a drawer. NOT. No, I did not watch your video. I'm sure it's good. Just had to say what cardo and another company did to me and it's not a stand alone electronics communicator. 🙂

      Your right, I haven’t thought about that you need a smartphone. I haven’t tested my Cardo without a smartphone so I hadn’t reflected over that it shouldn’t work without my smartphone
      Isn’t it possible to pair two cardos without a phone?

      @@JoonesAdventuresMC I don't know. I only got one and cardo reps would tell me nothing. I thought they were in the business to make money not enemies. 😂 But, I only wanted one for myself, because I only ride by myself all my life. I wanted it to make and receive phone calls when I'm going to the store or coming home so I would not have to stop along the highway to answer. But, it does not work. It will make the last call you made on your dumb phone, but only the one you dialed manually. I won't dial any other numbers and and radio barely works and only goes one direction and then stops. It's not worth the aggravation even if it was free. I put them both through the test for about 2 days each trying everything and it was the same results. If I come visit you and rent a bike then I will get a cardo so we can talk and ride, ok?? Runa does not have one right? She has no need for one like noraly. If you ride alone what is the use.

    My issue is music is super loud but the actual singing is super quiet. Anyone have a fix for this?

      No never had that problem. How does that sound in a ordinary headset. The singing and the music should be mixed together 🤔 Is it the same in every songs you listen to or doe’s it differ between songs. Is it the same if you listen to radio or a music player.
      Maybe there’s some of the frequency in the sound that disappears in the speakers🤔 Is the speaker located in a good position to your ears. Do you have any type of hearing problems? Some time I think that different frequencies can be harder to hear, even if other frequencies can be perfectly heard depending on age or if you have worked in loud environments. Even different type of earplugs damping different frequencies more than other so even if I don’t think it will help you it can be a possibility that you should hear the singing better with earplugs in or testing different earplugs.🤔

    Hey, do your fellow riders experience that your mic sound is low? So low that they cannot hear you in their speakers? Is there any fix for this?

      No nothing I have noticed that the mic sound is low. I think you have a lever for microphone as well i the cardo app I also think there is a auto adjustment for the microphone for compensation of different “road noise”. You have probably already tried to change those settings. The placement of the microphone might affect the sound. But I don’t find it that important, I just place it in front of the mouth and have never needed to change the placement. I mostly ride alone now a day or with people without intercoms so it’s hard to know how good the microphone level is.
      I’m sorry not be able to help you with that for the moment at least, maybe in the future 😂
