This channel exists to document unit counters within StarCraft 2. Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen from Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a coop commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units will independently use their abilities, in a basic way. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 esports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN. The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy!

I was quite surprised when their stuns didn't seem to do much. I guess it doesn't work on Massive units?
@@nhagan001 Stuns do work on them, it's just triple splash Yamato is quite powerful.

Good to know that a hard counter to the 14k tanks is 225000 in ghosts, knowing is half the battle

Take notes people to beat shock division you need 30 times their resources and a tanky (pun not intended) hero.
Raynors siege tanks muchbetter with prestige which adding +100% attack speed. In siege tank battles they kinda suck
Or air units that can shoot ground.
Technically, Shock Divisions can also shoot air.

This is the most useful Nova has ever been. She ate a decent amount of tank shots.

the first one was 250 000 resources vs around 14000 resources lmao, that was one of the most lop-sided fights I've ever seen in terms of resources.

Turns out, they are expendable.
Wow that last fight had me on the edge of my seat! So much back and forth lmao. It seems like Mengsk won. Resource wise, Nova and her Ghosts got roflstomped by Shock Division and the Prides steamrolled the Strike Goliaths.
With Mengsk's units though, you've got to take the experience into consideration as well, something that's a bit hard to measure.
What if we had Nova's ghosts vs Emperor's Shadow
with or without emp, or with preactivated supercloak that prevents drain all energy straight from the start
I think Nova ghosts would win. Emperor's Shadow abilities are energy based whereas Nova's ghost are on cooldown.
Here how I see the match going : Ghosts EMP the Shadows which trigger their invulnerability cloak. Since they don't have energy left, Shadows can only auto attack. 10 second when the cloak wore off, the Ghosts snipe them to near death (340 damage with the triple tap against 350hp for the Shadow). The match ends with a volley of auto attack from the Ghosts
Triple tap would probably kill the super perma cloaks, so even emp aside, the ES are at a disadvantage unless you have a ton.
As much as I love the Shadows, they'd definitely lose that fight.

First match: There were too many Ghosts for the Tanks to handle.
Second Match: Not sure if this shows how strong the Prides are, or how pathetic Goliaths are, no matter what iteration they are. Currently leaning towards the latter.
Third Match: Predicted that the Flame Troops would get slaughtered, but the Marauder fights were surprisingly even.
Fourth Match: I thought th Rocket Troopers would easily overwhelm the Banshees, forgetting that the Covert Banshees had that chaf-clear ability.
Those goliaths are amazing support against terran or protoss air. They are not a good as a backbone.
@@Headhunter1234256 Well, regardless, I'm sticking to my rule of never betting on Goliaths.
Oh they are actually pretty good against mech air, but PoA's triple Yamato is just that good😬!
(And It shoots fast enough that their stun can't cancel it, unlike normal yamato)

The start of that last fight was absolutely glorious.
Don't think I've seen that many units die that fast, without it being banelings.
I was like "Rocket Troopers win this easy" because I don't play Nova Banshees. Then 0.25 seconds in I was like "oh...."
The last battle is quite hope spot. Almost feel sorry for the guys.
It seems that rocket troopers have a chance after all, and one of them even says that he'd worse... and then banshee's AoE comes off cooldown, and that's the end.
those goli actually helped the POA with the stun

Only matchup I can think of where sc1 ghosts would do better than Nova’s ghosts.
btw Mengsk's ghosts have same ability but it works differently, and i tend to think, that ghosts are ultimate Mengsks weapon as Prouds of Augustgrads if he used them
Sc1 ghosts have 90 hp or something, would they even get close enough?
I didn't think the Prides of Augustgrad would beat the Strike Goliaths, especially not so easily.
Going in at rank 3 makes a huge difference. This gives the PoAs more than double the HP of a normal battlecruiser and they can fire their Yamato Guns their times in quick succession. The Strike Goliaths can survive one hit, not two. The battlecruisers also only fire as many shots as they need to destroy each target, and their shots deal AOE damage.
Not helping things is that the Strike Goliaths are marching in a way that means they cannot bring all their firepower to bear at once.
Mengsk would've won the brood wars if he just sent those PoA's at everyone.
I have never seen Nova (the unit) deleted so quickly by anything that wasn't Dehaka...
What kind of hellish Banshees were those
It's like a special ops coup in the Dominion, and Mengsk Imperial guards were sent to suppress it

Makes perfect sense when you think about it - named characters were always like 99% of SoK/Dominion power. And judging from how "effective" Mengsk troops were during WOL (especially Media Blitz), it's hard to put too much fate in them.
Mengsk is pretty powerful in Co-op, his conscripts make up their lack of health with overwhelming firepower and his elite units are about on par with Nova's.
Mengsk and Nova are my two favorite Co-op commanders, which makes sense given I am a terran main in ladder. Then again, Raynor and Swann are closer to vanilla gameplay...
@@Sunnysideanyway True - but note that I was talking about lore. Nova troops are special forces, while Mengsk forces are Elite Guard type - but since they failed to stop UED Expeditionary Fleet, Post-
Brood War Swarm in I and Raynor Riders in II, I don't consider them very "Elite" lore-vise.
And while Mengsk is one of the best commanders, I don't like to play with Mengsk. Since they usually just bombarding main objectives - and that's usually leaves not much fun for the other player LOL

I thought the banshees were going to throw that last one because 5 of them were stacked up and shooting single targets, but then their ability came off cooldown.
where do Rocket Troopers come from? Kinda looks like a cancelled WoL unit.
Kev west, marauder commandos, aegis guards, hammer securities, and dominion kill team marauders vs many normal marauders

Mengsk's elite units get more powerful as enemy units die around them so they are especially powerful in large fights.
3/4 this time
My predictions:
- Ghosts (the numerical and resource advantage looked to be in their favor, and the surround...)
- Goliaths (I should have listened to my gut to not trust goliaths, even souped up ones)
- Commandos (flame troopers didn't seem like they'd be impressive here aside from their numbers. Fodder maybe.)
- Banshees (the aoe I was expecting to make quick work but got very worried near the end)
Idea - matchup all the direct strike units of one commander vs another. Make the cost the same.
No small part of me enjoys that the highly worshipped Rocket troopers failed.... Justice.... ahhh~

I wonder how the third one would have gone if the aeigis guard had been in front of the soliders. They’re best used as shields, in my experience.
The soldiers is flame trooper, so it's just gonna charge up front anyway
They'd get stunned by hellbats and slowed by marauder commandos, and die without doing much damage
Nova's blink at beginning was just terrible; she basically became free frag for the tanks. It was possible to if, not preserve her, then at least make it harder for the tanks had she blinked FORWARD instead of backwards (more than once!).
Cannon fodder vs highly specialized units in comparable amounts. Fair.

@@mauricioalejandrowestermey1180 Mengsk's Royal Guard steal- I mean they have a coincidentally similar unit promotion mechanic from the Command and Conquer games where each unit needs certain XP to rank up in order to get more armor/attack upgrades and unlock new abilities. In normal play Mengsk's Pride of Augustgrads are incredibly expensive, take a ton of supply, and require a ton of XP to gain that triple Yamato.
The mineral imbalance in these is crazy.
Mengsk's Royal Guards have costs along the lines of 100m/750v to encourage Trooper spam.
Am i wrong or we have a FIRST Flawless Victory in whole series with Pride of Augustgrad's?!?

I mean it's just an upgraded version of snipe which has only worked versus bio units, what did you expect?
@@kwombok But they didn't. Yamato work on anything while snipe only on biological. They still have their ability, just can't use it. The only "unfair" part is that Ghost are not at all design to fight unshielded mech, but they still end up winning so who cares
