My head canon is that he's been theory crafting protoss for the last 2 years. Of the three races it's the most playable through his injuries. And he is the sort of guy who might want to prove he can win with the historically least champion rich race.
I hope he's back next year. Some part of me wonders if he's almost a bit intimidated by his own reputation and doesn't want to go back if he isn't very very confident, since naturally everyone's gonna be all like 'holy shit Flash is back!' when he does re-enter. But what if he tries out and doesn't even qualify, or bombs out in the first round, lol.
@uxie6177 i think so. I think he its taking time first to let the controversy settle but also make sure he is in shape. If he tries and gets a RO24 or even RO16 exit it'll be very embarrassing for him and might tarnish his goat legacy
Beating Soulkey who just went 5-1 vs. Mini in finals I suspect he's feeling pretty confident and just preparing another random run or to win a few ASLs as protoss since historically results favor zerg/terran? Could be wrong but I think Flash just has the mindset of a conqueror, what do I want and how will I take it with the fear of his reputation taking a hit pretty low. He also did bomb out as random if I remember right, but he stuck to the plan which to me makes him even more of a goat. Seems like he's just creating interesting experiences for himself and his fans with his play since just beating everyone and winning everything as Terran started to bore him a bit.

Without taking away from the brilliance of Flash, it feels like SoulKey wasn't fully invested in this game. Certain decisions for static defense and better overlord defense are quite obvious for a player of his caliber and could have been implemented, but were not, which eventually left him behind. Still an absoluely great game! It's always such a pleasure to watch 2 legendary players dish it out.
Easy there, this game was not played recently, it was played earlier this year when Soulkey was still busy playing LOL and he did not know it was Flash and was just chilling on the ladder. Put it into a tournament he's gonna 4-0 Flash.

Flash was just iut of the military, chilling on the ladder, playing his off-race, etc. Could also make the same argument that if it was a tournament Flash would 4-0 because he would prepare. Because making an evo chamber, and a spore colony, and 2 drones costs like 350 minerals. 4 hydras is better. And also shoots downwards if they go mass zealots
Despite getting away with the risky Nexus first build, this is still an impressive victory by a rusty and off race Flash. Perhaps he is making good progress on returning to form?
I feel if the overlord drop flanking attack happened sooner and he was more deceisive with the execution the game could have gone on quite a bit longer. It seemed like he was hesitating what to do there which gave Flash all the time he needed to drop those storm perfectly.
which usually is not easy to do as protoss , u don't know what zergs can do sometimes , specially at lower level toss when u need to know if mutas or hydra bust is coming to your expansion

Flash's counter is his wrist injury. He is playing other races to overcome it. He started it with an old Goliath rush, but that got countered recently. Therefore he is developing into a Protoss Executor.
You know Soulkey was swearing . Dude got supply blocked 3 times and thus his army did not have a chance against flash . The drop attempts just show Soulkey realizing what he needs to try ,well done.
Play Protoss against Zerg, storm them. Play Zerg against Terran, swarm them. Play Terran against Protoss, emp them. scbw is one giant rock paper scissors.

Those storms at 13:20 clutched it out for Flash. Really well-done.
I think he was already really far ahead from the drop in the main not doing anything and soulkey was basically all-in. Those were nice storms though.
