The more I listen to Sal, the more it’s clear that if the roles were reversed,Embiid was off his game and yet the sixers won AND the Knicks two best players dropped 30 each, he’d be saying how the series is over and the sixers are better. Unreal hatred of the Knicks
Being healthy and reliable is what superstars should be. Embiid played only 39 regular season games, tweaked/reinjured his knee twice since his return and isn't playing and people are overrating his performance. Embiid is shooting 37% in the 3 playoff games (Heat, Knicks 2x) and has been a defensive liability. Embiid is getting his points from so many bogus foul calls on him. He led the NBA in most freethrow attempts per game. Breathe or look at him wrong and there is a whistle. The knick mvp was Hartenstein. He shot 7 for 8 and was the more efficient scorer. He got the big needed rebounds. He got 3 blocks and the huge block on Maxey last layup attempt. Sal fails to see the importance of Hart and Hartenstein. People gotta understand teamball, defense and roles. This isn't NBA Jam (2 vs 2). Don't have that mindset. I can tell Sal never watched the Lakers in the regular season before. There is a reason why the Lakers have #7 spot and have a 0.6 point differential. Knicks have a 4.6 point differential. Lets not forget that they have the better record, have the #2 spot and were missing Randle, OG and Robinson for so long. Casual fans don't understand teamball and DEFENSE.

Thibs should've kept Brunson on the bench as long as the 2nd unit was scoring at will. Bogy/Grimes were heating up and Thibs pulled Bogu and put Brunson in who started chucking up Bricks.

Sometimes Sal has his moments where he is on point, not here. This knick team has played like a team. Everyone one contributes. Brunson has 2 bad games but Everyone else picked up the slack. And they have momentum going into Philly. If Brunson does get back into a groove and Everyone is contributing like they are now it's a wrap for Philly.
Ok sure Brunson might have struggled, but its the play offs and everything steps up from a level of intensity. Nick Nurse is focused on taking JB out of the offense so It is not always gonna look pretty. But just for some perspective, look up how Jamal Murray has shot in his first 2 games. Just like JB. Both players are shooting terrible. Yet Sal says the Nuggets look like the much better team. Gotta love the narratives. Yes Murray hit the game winner but he shot aweful all night. When you hear people analyzing the game from such a low level perspective you realize they don’t understand the game or what they’re watching.
It’s not that Maxey is better than Brunson it’s that he has another star on the court with him so it helps to keep the Knicks honest on defense. Allowing Maxey to operate in his offensive sets as per usual.
Brunson doesn’t have Randle so the Sixers get to help on Brunson and force the Knicks other players who aren’t stars to beat them if they can.
You can’t look at the results of a playoff game and simply say who the best players of a series based on their stats.
If you knew basketball you would have expected this to happen before the playoffs started.
Now it’s on the Knicks and Brunson to figure out how to get Brunson in position to play his game.
The best team wins in the playoffs not the best player.
Let’s not forget the Knicks are missing their second best player Julius Randle which would mean the Knicks would have the second and third best player in this series.
