You still have to buy a kit including special bags and pre-inoculated grain. It's not much of a stretch to go from that to buying dedicated substrate as well. She even mentioned in the video that toilet paper wasn't the best option, since it gives you fewer mushrooms.
@@MrAwawe fewer but it's more accessible... The perfect trade off if even with less you don't pay nearly what the mushrooms cost in supermarkets... Obviously you'll want to consider slightly expensive toilet paper for strength (not all toilet paper is the same strength wise and you'd probably benefit more with kitchen paper cut to toilet paper size as it's stronger but slightly cheaper for 4 TP sized rolls)

@@biancabrooks280 a type of bean used in cooking, its very similar to red beans. Here in the caribbean we use them alot especially in stews
I had to grow black beans in elementary school a couple of times. We used newspaper instead of toilet paper, though. They were very easy to grow.

My Italian friend blanched when he saw you were mixing cheese with mushrooms! Cheese is not to be mixed with fish or mushrooms! I just made myself a smoked haddock and cheddar pie served with potatoes and mushrooms and it was delicious. Italians don't know everything about food!

a way we always eat oyster mushrooms in our family (Italy) is with grilled or pan-seared mushrooms served with olive oil, garlic and salt. Really really simple but it makes for a tangy, sour with a sweet undertone antipasto, also great for aperitivo. Oyster mushrooms aren't tasty enough for risotto but they're great if you spice them up a little, use mushrooms with knowledge.
I've grown the magical variation of mushrooms. Never seen it done this way.

I put them outside where my wine caps are to hopefully perpetuate them together. The kit you’re using has always intrigued me and I’m glad you are showing us how it’s done. Thanks! I am going to grow mushrooms this year. It's one of the things I have added to my grow list as I got a dehydrator last year. Eat fresh but dehydrate for later and hope to always have great variety on hand. I put them in everything. And my husband and son love them too.

I believe it’s very appreciated in the gardening community.
What you left with is called Mushroom compost.
And can be used as a natural slow release fertiliser. As the mushrooms are great at breaking down what ever they are growing in and adding lots of beneficial nutrients.

We store wood shavings into sacks when i was a kid, and when it's rainy season, they grew oyster mushrooms! Mom loved them so much because it's so good with vegetable soups and other goods. One time i have tried using them for (button)mushroom soup and it turned out great! I'll try to grow small batches again now that i saw your video 🤤😌
