I saw quite a few outback bush camping trailers in Australia, they were engineering works of art, independent suspension, positive air pressure pumps, solar panels.
It should come with flat top fenders so you can use them as a table or work space. Round fenders go better on an asphalt type trailer not an off road trailer.
Why the hell would you take this out in weather that’s so cold you need heat, you did notice that everything on this is outdoors except the bed, right lol
We have owned and do often use one of these for the last two years. Is as wonderful and cool as it looks. Pulling it everywhere with a 2014 Ford Escape. Barely know it's back there. My Wife and I love RVing without being followed, everywhere, by a 'Double-wide Barn with an over-imagined toilet' .. behind us. The possibilities are endless !
I purchased a brand new 26 foot Forest River Wildwood travel trailer with a slideout for $15,500 back in 2015 - This thing should sell for $4,000 tops!
Be better off buying a nice 5x8 cargo trailer (like Homesteader Challenger or Interstate LoadRunner / Patriot, that you can some what walk around in) and only spend around $2500 to 3500. Then throw a bed, a foldable table, jug of fresh water, and bins of your stuff...off you go.
I built a 5 ft x 8 ft trailer for about 1,500.00. I am now thinking of adding a slide out for the bed. When the sheriffs came to my house, about the meth addicts next door, they commented on how much they liked my trailer. I pull it with a S10 with a V6. Very stable. I have spent many hours in it.
Cute! This is like a teardrop! I'd certainly make a screen to attach to that outdoor roof and give myself an extra room. I could also design something so I could use it in the rain. The price ain't bad for all the goodies and wiring included.
That’s quite a large one of those (physically) compared to the tiny off-road tear drop trailers. I think with one that size I’d prefer a bit more length to be added to accommodate a bathroom.
I agree this is probably the nicest one of these that I've seen. Very well designed. Personally a little too small for me. For 8 years I owned a great little 14' trailer which was a Fun Finder T139 but they don't make them anymore. Over the past few years it seems like anything between 14-24' have almost all been discontinued (at least when it comes to Fun Finder).
snackman There's still plenty of small travel trailers out there. I live in northern Indiana and seen new small units out for delivery all the time. Yes the model names and numbers change over the years. Check out KZ Sportsman, Rockwood Geo pro, Flagstaff E-Pro, Jayco Jay Flight SLX 7 145 RB. Coachman Viking 14SR.
Thor Industries (the largest RV manufacturer) now owns Cruiser RV who made your old fun finder RV. Looks like that brand now is focused only on larger RVs.
Thanks that makes a little more sense. I figure it cost them probably not a lot more to make the larger units but the profit margin has to be much greater once it's finished which is why I guessed they stopped focusing on the smaller units.
Thanks for the suggestions but 3 years ago I sold that little T139 and upgraded to a 2015 22' Fun Finder which is a perfect size for the wife and I. I sold the trailer within one day for what I was asking for it and I still had 3 other guys that wanted it.
These "over landing" type trailers are becoming increasingly popular. However, I wish U.S. manufacturers would incorporate more features seen in the Australian market, mainly because the Australian market is light-years ahead on R&D for off-road worthy trailers on a mass produced scale compared to the U.S. Big Truck Big RV - would you be able to review some Australian overland RV's? Trailers like the Conqueror UEV490, or Black Series HQ17 would be very cool for you to review because of their suspension setups, and each of those brands have a presence in the U.S. Heck, even a travel trailer or pop up from Kedron or MDC would be awesome to see you review. I'd love to hear your thoughts on frame/chassis used elsewhere in the world vs. Lippert. I'd also be excited to see you review trailering components like the Cruisemaster DO35 hitch on your buddy's R-pod.
You make a great point. The little RV trailers like this in the US do not compare at all very well with their counterparts in Australia. However, have you priced those items in comparison to this one? This one truly is bargain basement for the very basic of amenities compared to those. The Conqueror is almost $70k and the Black Series is $55k.
True, Australia is truely awesome when it come to off road trailers. Although they have a price tag to match. Interesting that you mention the conqueror which originates from South Africa
I bought a Sunray 109. It has a propane furnace, 5k BTU air conditioner, water heater, 2 burner propane range, outdoor shower, TV with DVD player, microwave and a 3 way fridge with freezer. It had been a lot of fun especially for 11k.
This is perfect for my wife and I. Its pretty much a hotel room on wheels. I would upgrade the mattress because I am sure it is one of those foam mats. All you need it a small potty tent/shower tent.
This thing is pretty sweet and all you need for a weekend excursion, which is what a lot of us do pre-retirement. I’m in my 40s & a huge trailer or RV is not practical. My Jeep will pull this easy.
Like how you call it a coach. Does look pretty neat. Surprised they didn't have a solar panel on roof for those batteries. Better batteries and tires than a 35 ft one. ha.
Now I have no opinions on the product but god you're so good at talking dude. All the other people who film RVs are so bad I close the video for their voice alone
You have got yo be kidding...15 grand? Is that in US dollars? 5 grand for what you are getting seems reasonable. Also, there is no disconnect between outdoors and the bed. Where would you put your shoes and outer clothes, especially if they are really dirty?
Cool little trailer for off road remote camping. The hard shell makes it a bit more secure than a tent. Last summer there were places in the north west where only hard sided camping was permitted because of a few overly curious bears. Great review! We have been eyeballing a Moby 1 a similar rig but even more spendy than this one with long lead times for a build. I'm glad to see a less expensive option out there. Thanks again for showing it to us!
Get a van on Craigslist, my dad got a 2002 dodge ram 3500 work/carpenter van for $250 we already took it camping, you can fit 5 people (has 2 front seats, thats it the other people used lawn chairs) with a lot of gear its worth the investment.
I'm gonna get one but most likely used, sold my 71 Econoline and got a mini van two times the gas mileage, got mini fixed up on inside but not nice to sleep in so gonna get a teardrop to go to the van events/runs
Interesting design. The back becomes a hard awning. But you're still screwed in bad weather with the outdoor kitchen. Hmmm, it's main advantage over the Aliner Ascape is the ground clearance. But you can't walk into it, or shower, or whatever else. Hmmm...
To me it looks like you could have had a hot water system and made an outdoor shower. Think of a pocket door on the outside that flips up and a curtain falls down. Even a significant water tank. In addition, they could have figured out a generator compartment.
Idea for design option, have the kitchen at the back set up to be accessible from inside for times of bad weather. The fridge can be turned with the back against the side wall. The storage underneath can have door access on both sides.
Design Azdale panels that fold down from the fold up hatch then a slide out from the bottom with two fold up azdale from bottom that lever latch lock together with buoy in frameless Windows and a door. With a fantastic fan!
I wouldn't give him $5,000 for this trailer! You would be tracking dirt into your bed every time you got in the trailer! Worthless! Rather camp in a tent
I'm getting the 12SRK version of this trailer for less than 13K. I'm getting a 3-way fridge, propane stove, grill, shower, water heater and 20,000 btu furnace. Also, an awning, roof mounted racks and solar panel, TV with DVD and the couch pulls out into a queen size bed. I could go on and on, but my point is - pay the extra $1,500 and get the 12SRK because you're getting about an additional 5k - 6k worth of accessories. The advantage of this RV is that I can pull it with my little Jeep Renegade into some very isolated areas (two-tracks) and I can boondock in comfort for weeks! I've looked at similar units for months and this is the best deal going right now.
The 13' Scamp is about the same price, is able to sleep and stand up 4 people inside plus has an indoor kitchen. All for about the same price and dry weight as this bed on wheels. This is cute for a couple I guess?
On the side of it, a wing should fan out and connect to the kitchen side so if its raining you dont have to get wet while youre going inside the trailer.
No stove and is there an outdoor shower ? I don't thing so if it did you could carry up by the batteries a compose toilet and install a induction stove top burner youd be set. cool vid.
One of the product lines I sell is Flagstaff. Couple things to add.. The EPro line is fully laminated with Azdel backing just like your Chaparral. It is equipped with torsion axles that carry a 10 year warranty and the mini fridge actually has a 600 watt inverter to run it if you are doing any dry camping. You should take a look at their other product lines. Their Superlite and Classic Superlite are some of the best built trailers on the market. (IMHO of course)
As a 3rd gen native from Flagstaff, I'm offended. Kidding. I like it, and the torsion axle is a great plus. The only thing I noted, that rear drain, you take that thing off-road, guess what is going to get destroyed. Tuck that up, or move it closer to the axle.
"Keep in mind those are mainly for looks. You are not really going to have any way to utilize off-road tires on a trailer." How about increased puncture resistance? What do you think will happen to a pair of standard trailer tires if you try towing this thing through Rocky back trails?
They should make them modular. Then design a center camper the other two attach to that has a kitchen and table with the rooms on the sides. Then use fold out azdale panels in the back to have a cartridge toilet and a cartridge shower. 😊

We had to ratchet tie down camper body... so we wasted 2 days fixing camper... But we did notice whom ever screwed floor to trailer frame over torqued screws as head of screws was like afew millimeters from trailer frame ... so we had to unnecessarily purchase drill.. drill bits... bolts.. plates... align trailer body to frame... and stay somewhere unplanned due to shoddy workmanship... (oh and while looking for a suitable location to bolt camper body down near kitchen found a bare wire under sink) then after that 3 days later the microware fell out... again due to shoddy workmanship... we plan to replace it with shelving too as we never used microware once... we felt we needed more storage... it kind of defied the purpose of being more organized... an upgrade from a tent almost felt the same as tent camping... still packing up into totes... cause why.. nothing really had a home... cause why no storage we installed a 25w solar panel on roof rack to help charge battery for fridge... it couldn't keep up with it... don't know if it was due to a faulty main battery power switch (this could be just wear and tear ... rest not excepted)... if you move wriggle red key it would start and stop invertor... supplied invertor is 700w... In my eyes this is a shoddy piece of workmanship by Rockwood
This is really neat, more adventure style. Just a thought, and I know they're not travel trailers, but have you ever seen or looked at something like the Patriot Camper trailer? A bit for the more outdoorsy type of person. Also, it would be nice to see something like a pop up truck bed camper. All the trailers are beautiful, but not always easy to get into tighter areas. Look forward to seeing for from your channel.
This would be perfect around the 5k range and that’s pushing it. They’re crazy asking 12-15k for this
I could even do 8-10 if that actually is a queen bed, but yea 12 plus is a bit much.
For that price and they didn't even have large solar panels installed on top, sheesh.
I saw quite a few outback bush camping trailers in Australia, they were engineering works of art, independent suspension, positive air pressure pumps, solar panels.
Daniel Ramsey yes they are, much thought goes into the design of those outback campers.
Yeah camper trailers are everywhere in Australia
$12K-$15K is more than I'd pay for this.
I'm inspired by this design to build my own for less.
Comparable units are up to 10K more expensive. This unit is a bargain compared to others I’ve seen.
@@jimknott183 Not worth it you could get bigger for cheaper
You can probably build your own for about 2-3k
Agreed.. 5-6k and I'd be interested
It should come with flat top fenders so you can use them as a table or work space. Round fenders go better on an asphalt type trailer not an off road trailer.
mixflip -- thanks, hadn't thought about flat top fenders. Useful even just to hold a speaker.
New trailers are CRAZY OVERPRICED.
it's a cool item but no way, that price is not justified
No propane = no heater. Might as well just throw a tent into the back of the pickup truck and save 12k lol. That's a big "no go" in Colorado haha.
Little Buddy heater should be enough to warm that sleeping area!
You’re a bitch
Yeah pretty sure it's a heat pump, might not be enough for mountain country tho.
Why the hell would you take this out in weather that’s so cold you need heat, you did notice that everything on this is outdoors except the bed, right lol
Bret Allen You got plenty to fire up in Colorado to keep you "warm"
Includes the toilet which is right behind that bush over there.
That's what the RV parks are for, a toilet and shower.
For $15000 I can buy used 4 x4 truck And still do a 6 x 12 cargo camper conversion trailer with Solar
My thoughts exactly 15 grand your wasting money buying this. No value what soever buying this
@@timslawnmaintenance not even 5K$ worth of materials

so we had to unnecessarily purchase drill.. drill bits... bolts.. plates... align trailer body to frame... and stay somewhere unplanned due to shoddy workmanship... (oh and while looking for a suitable location to bolt camper body down near kitchen found a bare wire under sink)
then after that 3 days later the microware fell out... again due to shoddy workmanship... we plan to replace it with shelving too
as we never used microware once... we felt we needed more storage... it kind of defied the purpose of being more organized... an upgrade from a tent
almost felt the same as tent camping... still packing up into totes... cause why.. nothing really had a home... cause why no storage
we installed a 25w solar panel on roof rack to help charge battery for fridge... it couldn't keep up with it... don't know if it was due to a faulty main battery power switch (this could be just wear and tear ... rest not excepted)... if you move wriggle red key it would start and stop invertor... supplied invertor is 700w...
