  • A video of every MLB Hall of Fame player in order of election from Babe Ruth in 1936 to Mariano Rivera in 2019. Including rare footage of early-era players like Nap Lajoie, Chief Bender, Joe Tinker, Jesse Haines, High Pockets Kelly and many others!
    This only includes MLB players who played in the Major Leagues who were voted in by the BBWAA or the Veterans Committee. Video does not include people enshrined as managers (Joe Torre, Casey Stengel, Whitey Herzog, etc.) managers, contributors/executives (Candy Cummings, Pat Gillick) or those voted in by the Negro Leagues Committee (Satchel Paige, Monte Irvin, Josh Gibson).

    It's insane that even if your one of the best athletes in the world, you'll be mostly forgotten by everyone in 100 years.

      @UncleMikeNJ I like your two choices, Pete Rose was just as good. Forty some game hit streak, played seven different positions, I believe fifteen all star games the hit king of baseball. There are players that did worse than bet on baseball games, in the HOF. Whitey Ford, tyre Cobb, are a few. People in jail get released. The man has payed his dues.
      I know I’m not perfect, either is he, even if you don’t like him, you cannot deny he played hard to win. He gave everything he had. Yeah I’m a Pete Rose fan, from another state. He signed a ball for me a long time ago, him and Bench, I always wanted Bonds and MAC, nice talking to you,

    Glory of Their Times by Lawrence Ritter, 1966, tells the story of the early days of baseball 1890-1910 told by the players themselves, some just weeks before their deaths. Fascinating reading for historians of the sport or fans at large.

    If Rube Marquard were playing today, he'd win 30 games every season and have a lock on the Cy Young award every year until he retired. If High Pockets Kelly were alive today, he'd hit 65 HR per season and win the Triple Crown a dozen times. Etcetera.

    Care to explain why you don't have the Negro League Hall of Famers - Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, Buck Leonard, Judy Johnson, Cool Papa Bell, Oscar Charleston, etc.

    • @rcc6103
      @rcc6103  Год назад +1

      I do. This video includes only one type of inductee, Major League Baseball Hall of Fame players. At the time this video was made, Negro Leagues weren’t considered Major Leagues. So there are no Negro League players, Major League managers, execs, umpires or pioneers. Just Major League Baseball players. In the time since the video has been made, the Negro Leagues have rightly been classified as a Major League. If I made a video in the future of Major League Hall of Famers, they would be in there.

    I'm so blessed to have gotten to see many of these players play, some live. As a Phillies fan I got to see such greats as Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton pretty much their entire careers(Carlton's as a Phillie and not a Cardinal). But others who passed through Philadelphia either as players or opponents like Joe Morgan, Tony Perez, Jim Thome, Roy Halliday, Jim Kaat, Pedro Martinez(all as Phillies) and the likes of Greg Maddux, John Smoltz, Ozzie Smith, Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripkien, jr., among others. I also got a chance to see play many players who are not in the hall for various reasons although their careers speak otherwise like Pete Rose, Mark McGwire(saw him hit 3 HR's live one game), Rafael Palmiero. Man was a ride it was watching baseball in those days! Oh, and I think inducting Tinkers, Evers, and Chance together is both poetic and epic.

      @@rcc6103 Whitaker had a career WAR of 75.1, which is seventh all time for second basemen. The six men in front of him - Rogers Hornsby, Eddie Collins, Napoleon Lajoie, Joe Morgan, Rod Carew, and Charlie Gehringer - are all Hall of Famers. Many behind him, including Ryne Sandberg, Roberto Almoar, Craig Biggio, Nellie Fox, Joe Gordon, and Bobby Doerr are Hall of Famers. The average WAR for Hall of Fame second baseman is 69.4.
