Outstanding video. Question Can I fit the new Nikon 180-600mm lens> Is it possible to lock this case down to the rear of a vehicle and pad lock the case, how secure do you think it would be? Thank You
Thanks Jorge! It would definitely fit laying down horizontally. You can pad lock the case with a separate lock, and probably secure it to a vehicle as well.
Dude! Just a few days ago I upgraded to a big boy Canon XA 60 video camera from my old Canon T6i and literally yesterday I went into a random thrift store and found a Pelican 1400 for $30, insane deal!
Thats such an incredible detailed good Video, even tho its already a bit older :D These "organizers" on the bottom, can you also edit them, that an entire keyboard or mishpult would fit in there, and only fill the edges with accessories?
Thanks! If you're talking about the case dividers, they're completely configureable, whether you use the velcro, TrekPak or pick-and-pluck foam. Some are easier to adjust on the fly more than others, specifically the velcro.
@@andrewsaraceni do you have a recommendation where to get any of these lid organisers from Germany? I can only buy a few from Etsy which take up to 2 month to be delivered 🤔😂
@@Moterit A-MoDe does ship globally I believe. e.g. Even their Amazon US orders come fulfilled from Hong Kong, though it might take 2-3 weeks to get it.
That increased width might make the 1650 NOT fit into the gate-side gauge for carry-on luggage, but we almost never see a gate agent actually require a piece to be gauged. If you get on board and the 1650 won't fit overhead, then you might be required to gate check it, but that's easier and safer than checking it in and probably won't result in an extra charge. Of course, the added weight of the case and the extra gear it can accommodate might make the whole thing so heavy you can't lift it into the overhead bin. My view regarding carry-on luggage has always been simple: if you can't carry it, it's not carry-on. Of course, certain disabilities override this concept.
Correct. In my experience, the best way to get a slightly too big carry-on bag into the cabin is to do simply carry it onto the plane without doing anything to draw attention.
@@andrewsaraceni cool ill check those out! was also looking at the 1615. thanks again - im leveling up my gear and every time i search for a topic yours come up and are the most clear and useful!
1510 is very much fit most but sometimes not all kit. 1560 is very much fit it all in but with the caveat that you can't take it onboard air airplanes. The question should be to buy multiple 1510 cases or buy one 1560 case. You can always buy one 1510 then get more later I suppose.
One of the best reviews and detailed explanation of uses I have seen on the web! So a new subscriber!
I appreciate it Tim, and thanks for the sub!
Awesome description mate thank you, really helped me work stuff out.
No problem, glad to hear this was helpful to you!
Gotta give you credit - you are one of a very few youtubers who actually gave the model number and make - full credit
Thanks! Always important to include the small details.
AWESOME VIDEO!!! Thank you. Thank you. I just got the 1510 and thank you for confirming that this was the best option for the traveling photographer.
No problem, Leroy! Glad to hear it helped (and congrats on the purchase).

Thank you so much for all the info. Now I can make a decision..1560 it is, me so happy.
No problem! Can't go wrong with a 1560.

That's a great find!
question about the 1510, are the padded dividers customizable?
Yes, you can move, configure them, etc. in almost any setup you can think of.
Great review…I just purchased a used/like new 1510 (w/ foam) from B&H Photo for $149.99.
Thanks, and congrats on the purchase!

Lots of good points - it's definitely a roll of the dice to try to pass the 1560 off as carry-on (I assume you meant that, vs. the 1650).
Correct. In my experience, the best way to get a slightly too big carry-on bag into the cabin is to do simply carry it onto the plane without doing anything to draw attention.
17 lbs is crazy - is there a lighter version of the 1560?
Not exactly - a 1556 or 1557 might get you close though, minus a couple inches. Or a 1510/1535 is still a great option for less weight.

I have the 1510. I Love it!
Thanks James! The 1510 is a great choice, for sure.
think you could fit a Sony 400 in the 1560?
Since the interior of the case is roughly 20"x15", and the 400mm f/2.8 is just a little over 14" length-wise, I think it should fit fine.
Can you fit a Sony 600mm in the 1510?
It should fit the long way with about an inch or two to spare.
I have over 30 pelicans in various sizes, but no air cases alot of my cases have skb divider kits
Yeah I generally prefer the non-Air models as well. Interesting, I'll have to check out some of SKB's dividers at some point.
Thank you!

A lot of it really depends on your use case. If you travel a lot, the 1510 is a major convenience, but if not the 1560 might be the better buy...
THANKS!!
No problem!
Good review but I nearly lost all faith the moment you mentioned a master lock
Thanks! Guessing you had a bad experience with one before?
@@andrewsaraceni just they are inherently bad, check out any video from the lock picking lawyer
Save some money and get cases from harbor freight
Not a bad option if you prefer pick and pluck foam. Otherwise, the "savings" - i.e. lack of divider/lid options - probably doesn't make sense.
that option with diy trekpak sounds perfect
HF does not have a 1560 sized case, only the 1510 equivalent.
Pelicans cost money!
That they do. 💸
