Earth, Wind & Fire are one of the most dynamic and creative funk bands to come out of the seventies and also one of the most successful. The group was led by Maurice White and this new DVD & CD release captures them on stage in Japan in1990 during the last tour that Maurice made with the group following the release of the "Heritage" album. Spectacularly staged as ever, the concert features all their best loved songs.
The DVD is out now and includes the hits "Let's Groove", "September", "System Of Survival", "Fantasy", "After The Love Has Gone", "Shining Star", and more.

I must say that Earth and Fire were and still is one of my favourite bands. I am 71 years old and their music is just out of this world. I love the attire for this concert.
Thank God for Earth Wind and Fire. They're definitely the perfect definition of RnB. Thanks too to David Foster for this wonderful craft.

Being a new fact I just discovered, I'm surprised, but not surprised this song brought two Grammys. I used to think this song is kinda underrated..till I noticed the audience's reception whenever they brought up this song to perform.
This song is just special to me because it resonates with my spirit. It's even more special as it did the magic bringing the Grammys.
One of the best Bands in the world, but Maurice will be missed.
Back in the early 90's I was 16 and just graduated from music school ( that's the way we called it in Russia ) Western music was becoming freely accessible and thats when I got a hold of a tape of EWandF. I was in shock aftef first song played-this song. I couldn't believe that vocals such as these were possible, I didn't know who the singers were, I didn't know if they were white or black or Asian or aliens-i just fell in love with this band instantly. Then after coming to the States I bought everything these guys ever recorded. I have read about these musicians and got to know them, but the most important lesson that I learned was-true music that's created by true artist makes races and all differences disappear, and that's what let's your sole fly-the feeling of oneness. We are all one.

The U.S.A. won the Cold War....and, I could not imagine living in the U.S.S.R.....that would have been Hell on Earth. When growing in the U.S.A., I always felt very sorry and sad for the "Soviet people". That must have been like living in one big prison on Earth.

I started following EWF in High School in the early 1970's. Our Community would Charter a Bus to go see them in Concert on Long Island or in Manahattan. I have seen them LIVE more than any other group. Probably 10 or so times over the years. I have never been disappointed.
Their Energy brings people together.
The Reception they received in this Japan Concert is very telling.
Their appeal is INTERNATIONAL.

"After the Love Has Gone" is a 1979 hit single for Earth, Wind & Fire, written by David Foster, Jay Graydon, and Bill Champlin for the album I Am. It peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. (Wikipedia...) Earth, Wind & Fire member Verdine White revealed that "After the Love Has Gone" was one of their most difficult songs to record:
"The track was based on a vibe. We cut it about six, seven times, and Maurice just said, "No, it's not right yet. We'll come back and get it tomorrow. It's not right yet". And then one day we nailed it, and it was right. The way it felt. It sounded like Earth, Wind & Fire". Id.
I have this entire concert on DVD. All great.
I saw another video on RUclips today where David Foster praised and gave Maurice White so much credit for being one of music's greatest gifts. I was moved when I heard that!

I agree Maurice just tends to set the stage on fire and the guys just follow him and its like they get inside his head all of them become one mind pure talent we don't have this in the industry anymore
I had the privilege to see EWF live 4 times and even today, I have not been to a live show that comes anywhere near to the pure quality and musical ability of these guys. the slow groove at the start of this as Maurice works his magic on the crowd is as good as it ever gets !
