  • Shinrin-Yoku or forest bathing is the practice of spending time in the forest for better health, happiness and a sense of calm. A pillar of Japanese culture for decades, Shinrin-Yoku is a way to reconnect with nature, from walking mindfully in the woods, to a break in your local park, to walking barefoot on your lawn.
Forest Medicine expert, Dr Qing Li's research has proven that spending time around trees (even filling your home with house plants and vaporising essential tree oils) can reduce blood pressure, lower stress, boost energy, boost immune system and even help you to lose weight. In this video, filmed in Blackwood Forest, Dr Li introduces forest bathing, why it originated in Japan, and explains why you need to get out into the forest today.
Along with his years of ground-breaking research, anecdotes on the life-changing power of trees, Dr Li provides the practical ways for you to try forest bathing for yourself in his book Shinrin-Yoku: The Art and Science of Forest Bathing.

I went to Vermont spent five days immersing myself in the forest and was able to completely stop taking blood pressure medication now I know why... I'm actually heading back right now to spend another five this guy is dead on great work and I hope he enjoys his retirement

i'm reading studies about this topic every day and everything Dr Qing Li says is proven. It is actually proven that even 5min in a forest are already beneficial. Already by thinking about visiting the forest later, one relaxes. But it was not possible to find huge differences between doing anything "special" (like he might promote in his book) comparing to just sitting or walking or even doing an activity one has no interest into at all in the forest - one will still have the health benefits.

Conclusion: people need to stop chopping and burning down forests, and planting much more trees, and wandering through them. A very tall order indeed.

Imagine... allowing and empowering forests to regenerate will expand the capacity for humanity to regenerate - individually and collectively. May we all more clearly see and more deeply feel our vital connection with Earth - in time to thrive together. Thank you Dr. Qing Li for helping guide us back to nature... I hear the forest calling... time for a bath!

Ok. So tl;dr since I stumbled across this trendy thing. Get into nature, focus on life in the moment and in nature, slow down, and do what people have realized they needed to do for thousands of years. Tree hugging, holding, fondling not necessary. That’s it. That’s all it is.

There is a Scandinavian place in Portland Oregon named Nordic Northwest which has forest bathing sessions on its land. It is wonderful when people learn positive customs from other cultures.

There is an upward rush of energy rising in every tree-trunk, which can be used to draw negative energy from your system, and is the reason for "Tree-Hugging."
It works equally well if you lean your back against a tree, and is less conspicuous ...
I live amongst trees, some of which arose naturally, where underground water seeps down the mountain, and others, fruit and nut trees, planted by the previous owner. Those I have to water.
Every Monday morning I divert the two water courses which cross my land, and create a pool of spring water around the base of each tree, and this brings me even closer to the trees and the environment in general, since I am a part of the process. The water comes from the tops of the Sierra Nevada -- so you could say my oranges are full of snow !
Thank you for putting a name to something that connects me to the numinous.

@ 2:10 : "For example Shinrin-Yoku can reduce blood pressure" , etc. The subtitles read "senior" instead of "Shinrin -Yoku" in which the syllables are run together.

GOD strictly forbids occultism and spiritism! Please don't worship nature, worship our CREATOR! Accept JESUS CHRIST as your Lord and Savior today!!! Please read the Bible, listen to real theologians like Dr. John Ankerberg, Dr. David Reagan and their guests - also on end times events.
