Later in its life, I realized it wasn't going to be going off road as much, so I swapped the tires down to 235/60R15. Dropped it 7/8" with no altering of suspension. Even that made it handle much nicer. The leaf springs and solid axles front and rear weren't ideal for handling, but the absurdly low weight and nice torque covered a multitude of sins.
Cool thing about this upgrade is it will probably get better gas mileage for sure won’t change. Those in line 6s are cool engines, my 91 YJ max torque and hp was around 2k rpm. Like a gas powered diesel. Had a mind splitting 120 hp and torque. Not much worse than a 85 Chevy 305 truck engine 😀
I am looking forward to this! The LQ4 is a lovely motor. Heavy, though - before it's too late, see if you can talk him into an aluminum 5.3 stroked to 383 inches!

Hp to weight on the nose of a Cherokee i personally would have looked for an L33 if the cam and intake were going to be swapped. I am swetaing the electronic stuff. Everything else I am good with. How will all the accessories work with this swap harness? Is it fairly staight forward? How much was your new harness.?
This is great! I have been on the fence for this swap for years. I really wanted to use a gen V/L83 just because they are so cheap now but there are no swap kits out there. I like the novak stuff but the headers are made by sanderson and are just repackaged from Novak....I wish someone could read me the part numbers off of those headers! 4L60Es make me nervous but I agree with the gearing for this project. Any more info on the accessory relocation kit from LS simple? Hopefully it is cheaper than the Holley kit! I am anxious to see if how much of the jeep harness will be left after the Terminator is installed. The factory jeep fuel pump with the old tried and true Corvette regulator combo seems to be the hot ticket with this project.I am going to be following this one close!
Only thing about the 4l80e is the gearing. I’ve had trucks with both 4l60e and 4l80e and I liked the gearing better in the 4l60e. In fact the 4l80e didn’t compliment the 6 liter gm at all. Never liked towing with it
I do like my 4l60e that is in my truck but seen too many break when it comes to over 600hp. I like overdrive at 60mph at 1500rmp's. You said that the 4l80e won't do this?
@@richardcoleman9645 not much at all on the top end. But the 60 has a much better 1st and 2nd gear relation for acceleration and towing than the 80s 1st and second. Now you're speaking my language!
I was just talking about the terminator x max last night. Can it control a sniper setup or only a multiport setup? I would have rather used a single standalone controller for my trans and engine rather than 2 separate ones that can't communicate.
I helped load it on the trailer to head out to you 🤣
Hopefully see more
It urks me seeing non mopar engines in mopar shells but its done by you so its acceptable. a 5.9 magnum can make decent power for reasonably cheap and should bolt in with factory V8 xj mounts
nothing wrong with brand loyalty, a 360 would've be a cool swap as well...
Comment for the algorithm 👍
Well I can always go for a ls swap video 😂
Add 20 years onto that inline 6 at 190hp it’s probably making 130 max
What wheels are those? They fit the vibe of a v8 perfectly already
Right after ls swapping my colorado I want to ls swap my xj too. Dam lets see how much this is going to cost me.
it'll be worth it, thats all that matters haha
I just got the 06 2500 Silverado lq4 6.0 engine to put in my 06 1500 Silverado. Got the 4l80e to go with it.
@@richardcoleman9645 built 4l60s can handle quite a bit. 4l80e overdrive at 60 will maybe 100-150 rpm higher than what you’d see with a 4l60e.
Is that all? Not 1000, just 150? Thats not much at all.
@@richardcoleman9645 not much at all on the top end. But the 60 has a much better 1st and 2nd gear relation for acceleration and towing than the 80s 1st and second. Taking off the 80 made the lq4 seem like a slug. The 80 also made more heat than you’d expect in a 3/4 ton truck when towing due to this
