STUDIO ONE GANG CHECK IN!!!!!💯💯
💯 gang gang
Straight ass lol
Yo bro I got hella questions about studio one
@@abdulrahmanjafri8090I use Studio One 6.5 🔥 It's amazing 💯
When Luna first dropped I mentioned in the UAD forum that Luna sounded better… Wayne they clowned me in the comments. Mind you I was monitoring through my Apollo X16 and Dangerous converters… so I’m hearing it through top notch conversion. They continued to laugh at me and said there’s no difference… “it’s all one and zeros”
This confirms that I wasn’t wrong.
Crazy! Yes it´s all "ones and zeros" but if you put effects on and it sounds totally different it´s still only "ones and zeros". So that doesnt prove their point at all!
U need a hug?
First of all wayne, I want to give you much props you helped out alot with my studio. I was an avid steinberg Nuendo 4 32 bit user. People sleeping on Nuendo. It's still killing the game. I started using studio one 4 both of them are like driving cars. You can have a pinto show out. not because of the car. It's because of the driver. So, to put my two cents in. I like the sound of studio one & Luna. They both have a certain type of grit.
Luna is number one??? I think that’s so cool. We’re always arguing about Logic and Pro Tools so this is so funny to me!! I love Logic, and I think ima stick beside it after this video. I’m so glad you did this. 🙏🏽
You are spot on about the “sonic blueprint” bro . I was just having this talk in a session w this artist that says he records in GarageBand…
Each daw has an input blueprint seems like
I could hear the difference through the phone so I can imagine the difference in the studio. This is great to know. 💯💯💪🏽🙏🏽
Bro. well done! but one but I felt You missed Someone and miss some test points here, first that person is Cakewalk By Bandlab which I thought it should be included in the test, I did something Personally on Cakewalk and on My Reason DAW which I'll still love You to redo Your test to get more result and to convince People more about each DAW Tone Quality and their Workflows, here is it; record a vocal on each DAW and export their RAW, 2. Equalize each audio file with a small amount of dynamic, if possible first give same settings and or mix as the as each DAW responds then export each of them and play the audio file of each DAW and now listen for comparison, that's what I did for Reason and Cakewalk. thanks for sharing this video.
I use FL for making my beats and Ableton for recording. I tried to record in FL but the sound in Ableton is warmer. And the workflow in Ableton for recording feels better, like adding plugins
Use Protools for recording and mixing bro
Cubase nr1 for MIDI , Ableton for audio wave(best rack paralel efx) FOR ME!!
Good Video Fam!!!
Interesting..!! So if I played a recording could you tell me which DAW I was using..? ( I would probably hear difference in various interface preamps ).
Wavy you on point!!!!! I agree with your order of sound quality from each DAW,that is why I have been sticking with Logic Pro X over Pro tools to me,that is to me,it was easier to get a clearer quality sound on Logic over Pro tools for me,Pro tools is Still an Excellent DAW,but yeah wavy you right.Logic not beating Pro tools by much, but it's enough for some.
I use Pro tools. But from what I hear on this video, my opinion is, Luna is 1, Logic 2 and Pro tools 3! I have a question, how do you feel about using Heat in Pro tools? I like using Heat it gives some nice saturation to the mix.
I like Heat and I use it. I love its built-in and doesn't require any fuss.
A less dynamic frequency response might actually be better for dithering and lower bitrate versions as the way most people consume music is in a low resolution form I'm for what sounds the best in the most circumstances rather than what sounds better only with certain equipment/situations
Wavy, I noticed it and that means I'm not tripping.
FL Studio was the one that sounded thinner than the rest.
Logic sounded the better for me.
Pro Tools, Studio One and Luna sounded accurate.
Logic added some texture to the mids and highs that made sound slightly more polished to my ear.
Plus, we already know how great the stock Logic Pro VI's are.
Great vid man!
I agree, Pro Tools, Studio One and Luna very similar sounding. Logic just a little more professional in sound.
I have a question, maybe you can answer it or it can be a discussion?
1. How do you deal with a potential client who wants to come to your studio But they Want to use a certain DAW (Cubase or Logic) But Your main DAW is say "protools or ableton", and it's close to a deal breaker for them, how do you deal with that?
2. How do you "sell" A potential Client/artist to book your studio? Do you have to be a "salesman" for your studio or does the gear or track record You have speaks for itself?
3. Based on a clientele that will come to you is it wise to be the studio that can record everything Or to Niche down to " I only do country" or "I only do rap" or " I only do metal "?
4. Should a studio owner or recording engineer have the knowledge to record a "rap song" or a " rock song" If they never done it before to a potential client or just wing it?
Sorry for so many questions.
Heya, speaking from experience:
1. if a studio supports only one type of DAW, then it imposes limits on how the client interoperates with that studio and its workflow. If you work on one type of DAW as a composer, and the studio uses a different one, you’ll be forced into a stem-based workflow: you’ll have to export your audio as stems to give to the studio for import, and accept stems from them to use the results.
2. Yes: the gear you have, the plugins, etc, are all part of the features of your studio. Moreover, your experience and client list are the big selling points! So you have the gear, but do you know how to use it and where’s the proof?
3. A niche allows you to focus and excel but could become the box that defines you and your work. Be wary.
4. Familiarity with a genre helps, get some experience with working with “both kinds of music: Country AND Western!” But seriously, genre-bending and eking out the best from your performers is the mark of a good producer, as distinct from an engineer whose job it is to make the best recording of a performance as possible with the tools at their disposal. They are distinct skill sets.
Hope this helps, good luck with the journey!
new logic 10.8 game changer with that mastering setup
I have this argument with producers all the time. DAWs don't have color. I think what people are hearing (other than placebo) is each DAW has different audio settings out the box (like the sample and bit rate). Also, when importing audio there's different settings. Not to mention, what rate was the import record in? All these play a factor. What DOES sound different However, is the built-in effects each DAW has. For me Pro tools has one of the best out the box mixing tools. Yet personally, I don't even use pro tools and i used 3rd party mixing software.
Do a null test on this RUclips audio and you'll see it for yourself, believe the test and not anyone's opinion. Doing a null test on this video will null test the daws playback against each other and not their exports.
I'm studio one all-day!
How come I can't get no love for Mixcraft? The shit is dope bro!!!
the way I can describe luna is silky smooth and comfortable, fl studio is harsh and jumpy, logic is clean clear and smooth, studio one is good, pro tools is accurate.
Finally !! Somebody gets it. Idk y ppl keep saying daws doesn’t have a sound
Now here's the question. If you record the vocals in one DAW, then bounce them down and mix them in a different DAW, will the audio blue print change? Or is that only imprinted upon recording? I'm tempted to record vocals on something else and then bring them into FL to mix, just to see what happens.
I've noticed their is a difference
Studio One works super easily and the automations are just as easy to do, but it doesn't sound very good ... The moon doesn't seem out of the ordinary here. As a sound I would choose Pro Tools, it's super clean
Making radio pop tracks I'm used to the pro tools sound as that's what the top sellers use. I started with logic for years and thought pro tools was a huge step up in sound but it's really just different for example to my ears Luna sounds good for something mastered with more headroom like a film score but for smashing stuff for radio i need the tracks to go through pro tools at least once
I’ve always liked the Luna sound. Pro Tools and Studio One sound pretty close. Logic always sounds awesome, even their stock sounds. They all sound pretty good though, besides FL Studio. I'm listening on my Adam Audio's.
80% of billboard music is made on fl studio😂
@@ojvic7297 yeah, the beats are, but they are all mixed down in the other DAWS. People are making banging beats on cell phones and IPads.
@@ojvic7297 the beat, not the mix or master
Thank you for this video, I used to debate about this topic to my musician friends, most of them disagreed, for years I thought there was something wrong with my hearing. I've compared 6 DAWS I owned before, Pro tools, Cubase, Studio one, logic, Ableton and digital performer, although not as popular as the rest, I find DP to have the best sonic blueprint, logic comes 2nd, pro tools 3rd, it's a tie between Cubase & Studio One on the 4th and Ableton on the 5th
On your comparison, Logic wins for me
Excellent Thanks
Luna definitely sounded the best with this audio file . Bottom line you can get away with any of them but as far as quality of sound . Logic and Luna stood above the rest . Pro tools was 3rd .
What's a luna my bro?
@@jude771 ohh ok thank you
Studio 1 was my favorite in this comparaison, it sounds the cleanest, the others seem to have some amount of noise or saturation to them
Reaper all the way. But logic sounded the best IMO.
Yeah, I felt Logic sounded truly the best of all but Am kinda having feelings for Luna for its warm and saturated feels.
@@pro_influence I find Luna interesting as well. However, I don't have a thunderbolt compatible mac OR Apollo hardware. FL studio for producing and PT for recording vocals and mixing will remain my go to it appears.
@@commonsense5188 The Road will be opened to Your Blessings someday soon.
Wavy can you do the same thing with interfaces? I have Pro Tools and Reason, I’ll be getting Logic soon. Reason might be better than all of them. Oh the interfaces, Vault, Focusrite Clarett+ Apogee Symphony desk top, SSL. I don’t think there’s anything good as the Anubis though.
Studio one I'm rocking with !!!!
Can you do more videos with studio 1 beloved
What interface and mic are you using with Logic Pro?
I've heard the sound in all three daws and also heard finish product out in the real world and myself NO DAMN DIFFERENCE!!! Especially the average listening person listening on everyday ear bud's regular commercial headphones and audio devices.
The only difference between the DAW's specifically to the sound quality is when you import them to each DAW they have slightly vloume diference. In FL when you drop the file it' sounds a little bit louder compared to the rest, in other 4 they sound quite similler. So in FL because it's louder it gives a more high end frequency perception compared to Studio One, Pro tools, Logic Pro or Luna, which they have more warmer feeling due to the fact that they are less louder in this example. It can be other factors that can play a role like pan laws(only while mixing, panning stuffs), internal audio settings or console type simulations build in to the respective DAW. If you turn off all of the settings that makes a change and evenly match the volume of each audio file in any DAW, so they sound equally louder, then they have to sound exactly the same.
Danggg 🔥🔥🔥
And what about Reaper is also very good quality?
So could there be anything up under the hood that make them sound different? Like how they do with plugins. I’m thinking they might encode something under the hood that makes them sound different. I don’t know I’m just asking!
This is the way. There is no color in DAWs
I can tell the difference listening on my s20 plus phone speakers. To me luna and Harrison mix bus sound very similar ( I know that Harrison was not in the lineup. But, those who have used it know what I'm talking about. ) then logic. Studio One and Pro-tools sound very similar and they both sound very transparent. I use studio one and I like it but it tends to sound too transparent at times even when saturation is applied. I may just use studio one yo arrange and HARRISON MIXBUS to mix with.
For me; FL sounded thin, Studio One sounded cold. Logic and Pro Tools sounded similar, and Luna was the warmest.
Is it the input or output that changes the audio?
I did a test comparing Pro Tools and Luna, 1. No plugins 2. With Neve summing (Neve extension in Luna and UAD Neve Pre on every channel in Pro tools) 3. With Studer (Studer extension in Luna and UAD Studeron every channel in Pro tools). When phase inverted they all completely null, so if you are getting different results it only means that you are not doing the test properly.
Go make a youtube then we dont nee ypur shady input and test dont equal sound your ears do lol
@@Tristianwunder You obviously don't know me, or how much I know about the subject, but that's no reason to be an asshole. I don't feel the need to post on youtube my tests, my testimony is enough, but if (for you) it's not, I can do a video of my tests, if you are willing to pay for my time, as I am a professional who knows what he's doing (and how much my time is worth), which I suspect neither you nor the author of this video are.
Literally watching this as I was just thinking about paying $300 for FL when I already have Logic 😂 Thanks for making me reconsider.
The only difference between DAW’s when it comes to untreated sound of a wav file is In each's dither .. Pan law is usually different … A pcm wav file is a pcm wave file. Period. The daw doesn’t do extra unnecessary work to a wav file unless it’s Harrison mixbus adding Harrison emulated saturation under the hood. Harrison is for people who want that and don’t want to do the extra work or making decisions of adding saturation to everything … Null test
Yes it does very well, either the dithering or not, but have You done a personal test like this before? If yes You would know it does, but something is every DAW is good but also they have better work flow than each of them, like I mentioned in My previous conversations about a test I did with Reason And Cakewalk, I found it a bit difficult to achieve My desired mix while in Cakewalk it was just a little nub dialing to the destination, this is how everything is not until when You practice same thus in deferment DAW.
@@pro_influence I’ve tested pro tools, studio one and fl studio with the same file. No dither no processing. They nulled out against each other. The interface gives the pc zero’s and ones and the daw records them as is.
@@sickmessiah good to know this but also try this:record vocal or guitar in each of them and export each Wav but not using a recorded wav file, this can't give enough best results You want but when You record in each of the DAW and export each out, play each and listen to their deferences.
Pro tools all day
I like the end results in pro tools. I tried logic but I don't like the work flow same with studio one and fl is too muddy and beginner sounding for me. Just my opinion. I have to try Luna.
Are you going to share the recorded file?
The sound in Luna is Lush. Can’t really different the sound in other DAWs But let them work on making Luna work with other interfaces, I believe they will get more customers.
FL studio sounds warmer, luma sounds rounded and Studio one pro tools and logic sound similar and more natural like what u put is what u get..
Why would you leave Ableton Live out of this test?
OK. I've listened through each of the DAWS for the best sound quality and, I have to agree with you. Logic and luna have the best sound quality out of those 5.
What about Harrison mixbus?
What’s your favourite Daw Wavy ? And what do you prefer to use ?
Top 3
1. Logic
2. Luna
3. FL
I would like to hear an instrumental through each however
Wavy, I hear the differences. I agree with your list. I can equate these (although slightly exaggerated) to the sound of mp3 bitrates. To my ear, FL sounded thin like 64kbps. Studio One sounds closer but less than 128kbps. Pro Tools was 256kbps and Logic 320kbps. Luna sounded like a wav file Lol. With the Luna example, I could hear the character of the microphone the most. I say that even with RUclips's compression.
And what about Reaper is also very good quality?
So what that means? Luna it’s the best one?
@@barbarojaelimparable I think the "best" one is the one that fits you. I love the sound of Luna, but Pro Tools is "best" for me because of my workflow & needs.
But what is the learning curve on Luna?
I have Protools & Logic Pro X & FL in my studio and honestly I have to say protools in my opinion sounds better an has the smoothest work flow 🤷🏻♂️
bro your order is exactly how I felt. not just saying that. I got Adams t8vs. luna give the most warm feel, then logic, then protools, as fruity sounds trebley.
Why Cubase was not sent into the mix? Also, as a FL Studio user for over 15 years, I definitely agree that it has the worst sound engine out of all iv tried in the past but definitely the best for audio production.
Right.. I’ve used FL studio for 8 yrs.. then switched to Cubase, & found it sounded much more professional
Luna sounds the best I'm dealing buying that I've been using protools for mixing over a decade now feelings hurt a lil bit but facts are facts great video
Logic and studio 1 sound the best and filled. FL, dry.. Luna nice but sound flat but better than FL.
Protocols pops but it doesn't cover the vocals it sound warm and bubbly and bold🔥 still nice though.
I use mixcraft but ik logic actually you can hear the mix down as you twist those nobs.
Quick question
Everytime I see these test video and DAW debates I never see MIXCRAFT included.
So my question is mixcraft really that bad ?
I been using it for 20 years or so and I created some pretty impressive mixes on it.
But could my work be even better on protocols which I own but never use lol
I'm just so comfortable using mixcraft but I always wonder am I leaving quality on the table by not using protools
Everybody says it's the best DAW but my mixcraft mixes sound better then the protocols work if have heard from others.
So to shorten my question lol
Wavy..why not mixcraft ?
Am i trippin on did logic sound more bright/crisp?
Has Luna got Dolby Atmos?
Very good point of view, i have only one suggestion to make, if you can record in multiple Daw with their recording process type of recording not as an playback, i work as foley editor and adr for movies, ONLY in Protools, Protools stands for the best vocal recorder using its own process algorithm ONLY for sound design for Movies, and it's advantages of sync point shortcut using with tab to transient for foley's especially, Logic is the best like forever but noway for film edit... in my opinion and experiences that's the only different thing i can hear, but please add the Bitwig Daw in this crew, it's like the best Logic ever made for Windows pc :) Godd video, pleas if you can try the vocal recording as dialog with no extended recorder, but using the same mic signal directly recordin in ProTools and Apple as an dialogue take, not for muisc, or singing.... maybe you';ll hear what i hear :)
also started using Korg volca sample 2 for footsteps, that is so good combination because of the samplers hardware, with the same sound sample... it's like no way that is the same sound
Im a pro tools user for sure and my brother is a logic user thanks for the content wavy it just ended the debate between me and my brothers thanks #BeDope
For me logic is number one. It seems to sound warmer and have a wider frequency range.
FL studio in the second spot because it has more clarity.
And frankly, clarity is what I'm looking for when I'm recording.
#3 Luna
#4 PreSonus studio
#5 pro tools.
That's just me though. Peace.
And what makes the sound qualities different? And why didn't Reason make it?
I use FL and I have pro tools 🛠 but I’m unsure if I should switch‼️ what one do y’all think is better?
Fl is great for making beats, if you into recording and mixing, def get Pro tools too!
@@waynewav exactly. What I did since 1 year. Beats on FL (since 4y). And recording on Reaper or Protools.
Jaycen Joshua is still amazing by the sound of drums in FL
@@waynewav tysm
Do a null test with them all.
he'll never do it, he's talking emotionally. There are people who have done research on this in universities and they said that DAWS do NOT add any color and their Null Test proved it. Wayne is just talking like someone who doesn't want to be educated. He Clearly has an understanding of the creative aspect of music but 0 understanding about the science.
what about abelton 11 ?
Harrison Mixbus sounds good also Samplitude engine is mean wit it
Sorry, not saying there isn't a difference necessarily, but we're the settings the same in every daw? Was a null test ran?
You sound like a Sonar user
@@shan5445 good one man
Update please since it's been some changes to each one
Luna and Pro Tools sound the warmest to my ear. FL was lacking. Logic and Studio sound good. I believe its subjective because everyone's hearing is different and at different stages in life. Frequencies sound different to the young and old. Good vid though Wave!
What about maschine?
Logic sounded best to me. The most balance. Great vid 👍
It would be cool if you did work with fl studio since it seems like it’s the under dogg maybe wavy Wayne could find the secret sauce to working on the fl DAW
Luna's "TTake" me there was the least harsh followed by FL. I would give it to FL for the dynamics also being great on top of ridding the T harshness.
Logic has a warm sound to which means at has coloration. Ableton has a digital sound. Not to sure about Luna. Protools has a flat sound to it.
What about Cubase?
i agree, i worked 10 years in cubase, switchin to logic and the voice is far more forgrounded than in cubase. more brilliant but also not as much mysteriös :D
I NEED CUBASE PRO IN THIS TEST! I OWN IT! FL AND STUDIO ONE PRO! THIS IS CRAZY! STUDIO ONE SOUND LIKE TAPE IT SHAVE OFF .. BUT YOUR RIGHT THOUGH!
I mean most people say converters dont sound any different either and that it doesnt make a difference and its not a noticeable difference in sound. The more i do this i just notice that most people cant hear that well lol.
Studio 1 using the CTC mix fx
Why would u need polish to be added by a daw?
Gonna be REALLLLLLLLLL honest with y'all, there is a "best DAW" in terms of opinions, but no DAW in general is "better than the other", even if this video is based on the poster's opinions on these DAW's.
All DAW's work and function differently from others, and that's a good thing because each DAW can only suit a certain amount people based on not only their experience within audio production and experience with using a DAW they used to use, but also how well they can use the DAW they're about to use and how well it functions for them. So if they're having major trouble with using the DAW itself or a certain feature/function of it, then they have the help they need available to them.
All-in-all, we gotta make the DAW's work for us. Also, how does sound play into choosing a DAW? Curious question.
Why not test Reason and Harrison mixbus? They actually have a sound
REAPER GANG
When Cubase 12 comes out without the infamous Dongle everybody will realize Cubase sounds the best, they got to best stock plugins all around
Agreed.. Cubase is 👑
A demonstration of how futile this argument is … is the sound of DAW dependent on the quality of its stock plug-ins?
Just need a recording software for real musicians that make beats with real instruments. I have cubase 13 and it sucks big times. What daw can I get that is like a porta studio? I just want plug and play.
PT, LOGIC, FL, LUNA, Studio One, in my opinion
REAPER is the best to me! Lol But Logic goes hard.
To me i like Logic more cause it's warmer and texture You can Hear the details on Vocal i'm PC User and Studio one user but i like Logic more
if i hade chance to use like logic i will Remove Studio one and Start with Logic
..you should try cubase 12, to me it sounded crystal clear and more open than logic ,maybe its not better but sure different... and Im a 10 y logic user....logic sounds kinda saturated compared to cubase, don't know why...regards
what about reaper
Run that CLA-2 to get that warmer sound. Fl gang for Beats but I agree with Wavy
Fl sounds muffled slightly though
Logic sounded the best. Pro Tools sounded the second best, though I don’t like that corporation since it’s been sold by Digi Design.
. Fruity Loops didn’t sound that good. Luna and Studio One had cut the highs, making the vocal muddy. They will all sound the same if a person knows how to eq though, and have a good mic with pre amps. Wavy can fix the mix.
Lol its not muddy its warmth
I agree 100% wayne
He got it right!
Is it really that big of a deal ? Most of the hip hop beat industry wise are FL. They sound amazing after mix. I feel this is almost an argument for the hifi audio community. But interesting subject non the less. Studio One all day. Also what about ableton live ?
I go with Logic!
