Not accidental. Niantic hates their player base lol. Evident in all the little mistakes and timing of certain things. Not only did they lie about the format of Mega Rays return but they're putting an expensive $4.99 box with remote raid passes as if they're usable for Elite Raids. Niantic loves slapping us in the face. It sucks.
I still think there's an issue with Pokémon aggression and timing of attacks/jumps in the "bug" version. Wonder if they've calmed down in the post-"bug" release.
I think the other main difference is visibly seeing a pokeball land within a nice/great/excellent circle, and nothing happens, which has happened so many times for me, absolutely nothing gets registered.
I think this was caused by the collision box being back from where the pokemon appeared to be, visually. So it looks like you hit but the Pokeball keeps going for a little bit.
Thank you Sir! As someone with a similar obsession with excellent throws I'm very thankful this is being restored. Additionally, as a film student and former RUclipsr I am very glad that your archive has not been made irrelevant. If it's not already in your archive, maybe you can grab a fixed catch recording for Yveltal before it switches out!
I got a fixed Yveltal throw (actually 10 of them). It looks basically the same as the broken one, probably because the throw has so much leeway, so I haven't bothered to publish another video.
Excellent video. Do you have on your channel a video on how you conduct your research? I know it is a silly question, but I wonder if you have like, a minimum number of pokemon you have in your sample, or if you test on different phones, Android vs iPhone, etc.
I don't yet but that's a good idea. Usually I won't make a video with less than 4 examples, but I'll look for and use up to 10 if I can. The videos use footage from my Pixel 6 Android phone, but I play occasionally on a Pixel 3a and iPhone SE and subjectively it feels quite similar so I think the guides are transferrable. I should probably test that more rigorously at some point.
Thank you for this! Brings some relief... I have never seen this mentioned anywhere, but all phone screens do not have the same length / width ratio, and some phones make it much harder to land excellents (and even reach some Pokémon like Sawk, Scatterbug, etc.) For instance, my current iPhone 11 makes it much more difficult than my previous iPhone 8 (standard versions). The problem is that the app cuts the game display left & right, instead of filling in with a black stripe or else top & bottom... Result: less area visible on the game map, and more difficult throws!
meanwhile some of us like me playing for eight and stuck on level 49 years still do not understand why some throws are excellent and some nothing no it not just practice I literally only ever get them as afluke. Plus yes I watched a lot of videos but none of them make any differenc to my rate or explain where to hit the circle just what percentage of circle it should etc be so I am still struggling to get 999 excellent imagine what this did to my catching last week 😂 Just found this channel but so far all you showed was where you released and that does not help my brain will look see if you have other stuff.
The ball needs to land inside the colorful circle. As long as you're definitely inside this circle it will count. Practice this on larger and closer Pokemon first, like Slowpoke, Furfrou, Ponyta, etc.
It is so satisfying to watch your channel grow and so relieved your archive is intact! Thanks for all your tireless work on the exact info the community needs!
More and more I feel I live in a simulation lol. Before your video of the bug appeared, that week I was contemplating starting videos on how to Excellent throw Pokemon 😂
Sorry for asking it here, but is there an app that could help with practicing excellent throws? Obviously, just going out and throwing as many balls as possible helps a lot, but something that would track my progress, showing results or anything that'd help understanding the mechanic would be great.
There's no app that I know about for practicing. I've thought about creating one, but recreating the exact mechanics in the game in a new app would be very tricky. The code for the throwing minigame is obfuscated so it's not easy to reverse engineer. Another option is to just have an app based on the release points that I find experimentally for this channel, but I feel like it wouldn't be really engaging and I question how useful it would really be outside the context of the actual game.
@@TheExcellentPokedex Hey! Thanks for your insights. I've been thinking of a different concept though. An overlay app, like Calcy IV, which runs when you play pogo, recognizes when you're about to catch a wild pokemon, or you press a button to show up and it'd show previous throw paths, maybe an average path, and statistics on the particular mon, like how many nice, great, excellent throws I've made and a total, and maybe some other numbers derived from that, like an accuracy score. But looks like I'm only daydreaming here. I like this concept though. Seems useful. Maybe it's I who have to make it happen 😂
Hey, it's me! And my typos... If only I was better at one-handed typing. I've noticed the feel has been better today. I was starting to think I was getting used to the change. Hopefully it's just back to normal and I can catch Zubats again and play with one hand.
OF COURSE they fix it right AFTER community day.
I'm sure it was an "accidental" bug right. Right?

Actually, it seemed like things had improved for community day, at least for me.
Could be worse, they could have left this in until after Go Fest 😅
bro… you are such an important part of the community 💪
Thank you :D
This is the content we need. No fluff, just solid advice that improves our gameplay 💪🏾
Thanks 🤘
But who’s gonna give me back all my remote raid passes?

frrrrr recognized this, too
Same here!

@@TheExcellentPokedex could you talk more about this? Or have you already? It's like there's a force-field around the pokemons :-/

Yes, I intend to make a video about the effect of phone aspect ratio at some point. It's an interesting topic.
@@TheExcellentPokedex Great to hear! Thanks in advance! I just subscribed to your channel the other day ;-)
You're doing God's work
Thank you :D
Woohoo, excellent news! Looking forward to getting that update pushed out to me. Thanks for your work keeping us appraised through all this.

You're welcome and thanks for your kind words. :)
Mine was fixed after asset download a few days ago
Nice. Archive saved! It would be nice if there is an app that can screen overlay the excelent throw points while playing pokemon go.
That would be cool. Hard to do a general one since the throwing will vary a little bit on every device.
Ummm. This channel is amazing. Subscribed. Thank you for your work.
Thanks so much. :)
I see your release points are on the left of the screen; can i just reverse that if i throw on the right? And thanks for all your great information.
Yes, you should be able to reverse it. I really need to teach myself to throw the opposite way so I can test this though!
More and more I feel I live in a simulation lol. Before your video of the bug appeared, that week I was contemplating starting videos on how to Excellent throw Pokemon 😂
My humble advice is don't do it. It's too much work, lol. XD
@@TheExcellentPokedex Good point, with my ADHD I'd get burnt out pretty quickly 😆

bad day for Nia - when highly gifted ppl entered earth 😂😂😂 🥳✌️👽
haha
I lost 2 Yveltals because of this bug...thankfully, no shinies, though, and I did catch one.
Fixed? 😂😂 Hell it crashed all the freaking time, if I get lucky it holds for 2 min, or it does even get longer then the loading sceen.. 💪💪
👍
Installed after community day...
Yeah, rude right?
For me is not fixed, sometimes works and then it breaks again... not sure if im the only one on iphone having this issue but just stoping doing raids.
Excellent! Thanks for the good news!

I thought I was going insane with how difficult zubat has been to catch, glad to know I'm not the only one lmao
Yay!
Interesting, I was wondering if it was just me that noticed a difference.
It’s wild how hard the bug made excellents, after the fix it feels so easy
I noticed last night yup
This man is so goated. Ty for your service
Thanks for watching. :)
Thanks, for bringing the good news!
We’re so back.
Thanks dude!
