So, basically what was said was to hire people based off of their sex, religion, ethnicity, sexuality, and race instead of their qualifications? That's... that's some very dangerous rhetoric they're spewing
This is about “Feelings” and not about “Equality” for all. The Standards should the same for all. We should have the best people in the jobs, based on high standards.
If Marxists are competent at anything, it's coming up with clever euphemisms that make their ideas sound moderate & allow them to obfuscate & avoid honest discussion. Let's cut thru the BS on DEI: The "diversity" and "inclusion" parts are mostly red herrings meant to make gullible people think DEI is broadly agreeable to any reasonable person. These 2 meaningless buzzwords also enable DEI advocates to use smears such as "anti-diversity" to dismiss critics without addressing their arguments. The real point of contention is "equity." Again, this word is chosen because uninformed people may think it is similar to "equality" as they're phonetically alike. However, the two concepts are actually mutually exclusive, as equity calls for equal OUTCOMES at the group level and explicitly tries to justify discrimination against individuals in pursuit of those outcomes. It's telling that the pro-DEI brigade would rather smear & obfuscate than defend their belief in discrimination & inequality
My family fled countries that used words like “equity”. Sad to see communism leave the fringes of society and be welcome by the mainstream via academia. This doesn’t end well. The USA is the last bastion of freedom. If it falls, the entire world will suffer.
DEI is when nobody is on the same team and you can't build on any past success. Because any success from yesterday is racist. So you have to build on failure instead. That is DEI.
None of this would be necessary if MANY did not refuse to hire based upon race, or hire and underpay based upon race. Can't have too many of not the right shade on my team don't 'cha kno.

To deny that discrimination during hiring exists is denying facts observed and reported. At school we are taught that all children in the group are to be chosen from, but as adults in america, despite qualification I can hire as I want, how I want, and who I want. It's sad.
If someone is better qualified for a job due to their related experience and that experience was gained over decades of work experience, that persons age is a factor of their identity. You and your ilk have not thought this through. Your implicit bias is clouding your judgment.
