    Fun fact, the flags in 2:26 are real pirate flags. Just look up the Wikipedia page for Jolly Rogers to see how they officially looked.

    Sometimes during the 1600s to 1700s “Recruitment” for the English Royal Navy was voluntary (although not always example: press gangs) “Pressed into service Shanghai’d all different names for essentially kidnapping any able bodied sailor or land man between the ages of 18-56. And after Americas Independence from Britain around 1798-1812 British ships would target American merchant vessels to press from their ships crew.

    Seasickness, Admiral Horatio Nelson, was plagued by it, so I would suggest wrong. Merchant ships owned by companies. Why people joined Royal Navy, they got paid, also prize money. There was a blurring of privateers and merchant men.
