I do that each time I inspect. I have had the handles come completely put of the station when pulled without triggering the alarm. I have also had other pulls handles work but failed to trigger the switch. If you are inspecting a system correctly, thats how you do it. And more people than not test them the correct way than you think..
@@nics-systems-electric I was surprised to see a large fire alarm company at a hospital once and the tech was carrying a torch. So much for no open flame. I am surprised someone actually went down there though. A lot of techs won't check conventional heats in crawl spaces or attics, especially conventional ones.
Are strobes not required in Canada? I can remember back in the 1980s anytime a fire alarms system was updated they would add light plates to the bells or horns. Now they use strobes. My elementary school had a space age electronics light plates added. I wish I were there when they demolished the building but later I learned the system was replaced about ten years prior to a new school built and the old demolished
No definitely not it would be a terrible idea if the school did as it's wood frame combustible material with no sprinkler and it's not needed anyway as there is no atrium or open stairwells
I just thought, seeing two detectors in a room. Can 2 detectors have the same address and report the same location position? Or will they not communicate properly
I go to school in the district and get work experience and apprenticeship credits for school by working and I already worked with the guys for fun years ago so I just kept doing it and now get credit for it
@@nics-systems-electric that’s cool, im doing something similar but with a security system/ fire alarm company and i usually replace systems or install brand new ones
We didn’t use the solo one in this video just the solo smoke detector tester and for heats we used the homemade one which is just a little halogen lightbulb

FYI, the correct way to test those pull stations is actually pulling the handle. Then opening it to reset (removing the glass rod before of course)
People say that a lot I’m aware of that because it’s more realistic but nobody ever does that lol. maybe they should but probably will never happen

Pretty cool system!

My ears: ah shit here we go again
Nice guitar playing
Not a life safety device that was funny!! Cool video fun day! Stay safe!! ...
I like this system
Your good at smoke detectors
When You Test The Fire Alarm System Let Them Sound For A Minute Or Two
You're probably the first, and the last person to ever test those crawl space heats.
Well whoever the last guy was apparently used a lighter on some of them as the paint was burned right off them lol

@@The1025RChannel Yeah exactly we always use the solo heat tester where we can and in tight spots like crawlspaces Milwaukee cordless heat gun
😂🤣😂🤣 you should probably replace all the Edwards heat detectors they just keep activating accidentally
Only some permanently activate
very interesting
How long have u been doing this job been a long time fan and I’ve been curious
Over four years of being around with fire alarm testing more like two years of working every week

Yes they are required in certain spaces but the rules are a lot more relaxed for retrofit systems

There should be

When you guys re-did this system why didn’t you replace all the heats smokes?
Not sure why it was left conventional probably something to do with the budget for that section of the year

No
Some of those ceiling lights need some work. Geez.

You see any schools that have Adaptahorns? Which I take it are as popular in Canada is Simplex is in the US?
No just some for class change bells
